What a joke.

Only five out of 14 got in. The organizer said to quit trying and they'd sort it out later. They're not happy with active.com.

I registered for the Pi run at Georgia Tech.  It is on 4-13.  I suppose there will be the dorky few who insist on running it backwards.

I guess it's too late, but different browser?  I had some site not work with IE while they worked just fine with Chrome or Firefox.

My sister said she got a confirmation but husband didn't.. but they were charged 2x.
And on Twitter the marathon's account posted that some people had erroneously been charged 2x for 1 registration?!

OMG...

I'm taking an online OSHA class...  I would rather go to the dentist (well, almost).  They put up a slide then someone reads it out loud.  They turn off the "next" button until the narrator is done.  BUT, I can read the slide myself in 1/3 the time.  So am forced to follow along at their pace.  I could be done in half the time...

Blech!

Wow, what a train wreck.

I wonder how hard it would be to set up a replacement/competing service for Active.com?

I'm thinking that once you got past the secure transactions part, the rest is fairly simple and then you just need to figure out how much to charge an event for the service.  Probably the hardest part would be convincing race directors to trust and use you rather than the established Active.com

Reports of people charged 3 or 4 times now. Without ever getting a confirmation. Amazing. I don't understand how they didn't prepare for this. Rumor is that active didn't do anything to improve the site after it crashed, they just want to wait until enough people jumped ship that the site would work again, but it didn't happen, so they had to just take the whole thing down. That's third-party speculation, though. I'm sure the one dude they had working IT there was like `HOLY SH*T! What's this!?'

The 'KOTTER' in your sig reminded of the episode of 'Breaking Bad' I was watching last night.  Of all people, Horshack was the guy they chose to play the part of some rehab counselor and at one point he asks a question and suddenly everyone raises their hands.  Not as dramatically as Horshack would have done, but enough to make me snerk

I'm not concerned. I'll get in, fo that I have no doubt. But it's frustrating when you're trying to coordinate a team for an event and then THIS happens. Ugh.

We also bought some tea in Turkey about 4 years ago.  Still unopened.  I wanted to throw it out.  Again, "it doesn't go bad, so why throw it out".

How about - even if it DOESN'T go bad, we haven't opened it in 4 years, what makes you think we will open it in the NEXT 4 years?  Considering she has bought tea 100 times over since then instead of use it.

Not sure if this is a good idea, but I always clean when my husband/son are out of the house. I throw everything away. 95 % he doesn't notice. Once in a great while he asks about something, I give a very fuzzy remark.. I put it... ummm.. not sure.

I am learning how to get rid of things.  I am emptying my mother's house to sell.  Lots of stuff with strong attachment.  We are down to about 6 boxes and 3 items of furniture.  Some daughters and some nieces and nephews will get a package to dispose of as they wish.  I just can't dump it all.

Probably the hardest part would be convincing race directors to trust and use you rather than the established Active.com

That's why you create a special class of service that you"give away" the first time someone uses your site and then you charge $60 annually whether the person reups or not. You don't really grant an service from that special class, you just take the money. It'll be brilliant. That way you can charge cut rate deals with your race organizers. And you don't have to be any good or have a good system to register people, but since you're the only guy in town, you've got the organizers and the competitors locked in involuntarily...Then again, forget it...nobody would fall for that.
