Well, it's like anything involving a tip. No, it's not mandatory but it's common courtesy. Think of it like getting your hair cut. Unless the person cutting your hair owns the salon, they aren't getting the full amount of money you are paying them.  

I usually have a baseline of 20% for anything in that type of  industry and adjust according to the level of service. 

And yeah, you can pay with the check and then give her the cash. I think that is just fine.

I go roughly 20% for my tip.  I pay by CC and just add it on.

Huh, now THAT is an interesting question. 

I worked at a PT office in college and this was not common. I guess a PT is a professional on a different level ya know? It would be like tipping your gyno lol

I say no. Although they totally dig chocolates, home baked items etc.

Just looked online re tipping RMT, and in Canada, it looks like if they work in a spa/salon, yes, professional office, no.  So same as PT.  Different licensing in Canada for RMT maybe?

ETA: in fact, they can't accept tips.

Yeah, what I was finding online is similar. If they work for themself then no but if they are at a "salon" then yes. I'm not quite sure with her. She is at the local community center (a really nice one) and there are 3 or 4 of them there. Not sure what the "ownership" setup is.

This stuff makes me crazy. I tip at restaurants, baristas, my hair dresser beyond that it gets into the realm of the unknown.
