Happy news: last night it was warm enough to ride in regular (not lined) bike bibs and a short sleeved shirt! Ditto with running, shorts and short sleeves! I felt so gloriously naked! I think the extra-warm spell is temporary but I'll take it and love it love it love it whle it lasts!!! My lungs were a little 'WTF', though. At the race Saturday it was 44*F and last night when I ran it was 76*F. |

Asalzwed - 2013-04-11 12:26 AM TriAya - 2013-04-10 12:19 PM holy ish yes! This reminds me of my first bike. It said "rad" and "cool" on it. Asalzwed - 2013-04-11 12:13 AM ukweeble - 2013-04-10 10:21 AM is this a trap?Muskrat37 - 2013-04-10 5:40 AM Asalzwed - 2013-04-09 9:36 PM Muskrat37 - 2013-04-09 11:32 PM Ehhh so I'd generally agree. I couldn't live most places on the East Coast but NYC is an exception. I'm betting Boston will be great too. I've always been a huge fan of big cities though. The people here are fantastic, too. That part was very unexpected. Asalzwed - 2013-04-09 8:58 PM Gah...New York. I could live here. Yup. Really? I hate the East Coast. Ok - Hate is probably to strong of a word, but I could never live anywhere on the East Coast. Visit - sure...live, no way. (The Navy put me on the East coast for 4 years) I have met many an East Coast transplant that love it here, but when I lived there, I rarely met someone from the West coast that didn't want to go home. That IS surprising to hear. My guess is that it has a lot to do with the person they are conversing with! You are very likeable. I'm so excited for your race! ????? I was so right about the demented thing. She's not likeable, she's lovable Speaking of colorful tarts and traps ... Such untenably shytty days yesterday and day before -- last night I was at the mall at 9pm (I hate shopping) because our house computer blew up (it's also used as an office computer, so we have someone working on it full time and we needed it NOW). Just could NOT resist this little find, though ... It's got WOW, HO, E.T., a bat-like alien and skulls on it! It's me to a T! I remind you of something awesome you used to ride. YES! By the way, I love New York. I always have. I never found the people unfriendly--quite the opposite. Just not California-fake or prone to excess verbiage, unless you're in Brooklyn. I'm on it. Don't need asking twice. |

Pennsylvania | Subject: RE: Mad Mutant Manatee Mentors 4--CLOSED At the request of Janyne, I've decided to get around to posting some bike pics for the manatee bike album now that the weather is nicer and I can take them to pretty or interesting places for their photo shoots. Here is my good ol' roadie, all dolled up with fresh tangerine-colored bar tape, parked in front of a very old church in my area. Ah, not the best pic of the sign, sorry. It's a very historic site and there used to be a ginormous 300 year old white oak tree on the grounds called the Witness Tree which sadly died of disease in the past decade. The church grounds are beautiful and there is a spring that originates behind the church. I'll take Rico out next time I ride for his photo shoot! |

(The Navy put me on the East coast for 4 years) I have met many an East Coast transplant that love it here, but when I lived there, I rarely met someone from the West coast that didn't want to go home. Clearly you were hanging out with the wrong people! Seriously! Don't be hatin' - that's a broad statement to rule out an entire coast! It might also have something to do with the fact that it was 1993, I was a 21 year old "kid", I was in the Navy and I was STUCK in Virginia... LOL I experienced, first hand, a very overt racism I had never seen before. I traveled through the south and saw segregated towns. I traveled up the East Coast from Virginia into New York City and then to DC, Philadelphia, Cleveland etc and I found every Big City to be to rushed for my taste, the traffic was horrible (Especially NYC) , and I personally found the stereotypes of people in the big city to be pretty accurate. That doesn't mean that people were not polite when I spoke to them. I also thought that, compared to the West Coast, it was rather flat and brown (especially once you head East). Upstate New York and Connecticut I found to be beautiful in their own way, as were parts of Northern Virginia. This was just my experience, and because of it, I could never envision a world where I would actually live anywhere on the East Coast. Even the beautiful beaches of Florida. Great to visit, but I could never live there. I'll take the Green Mountains, Thousands of trees, and giant rivers of the west coast any day. My statement was made mostly tongue in cheek, and not meant to insult anyone. Now - visiting Manatees and experiencing the beauty and history that I know exist on the East coast... You are on! I would love to travel back to New York and DC as an adult. I would love to visit some of our national monuments that I didn't have the same appreciation for back then. In a perfect world, I would win the lottery and travel there to compete in triathlons, meet manatee's, and do a bunch of sightseeing. Road trip anyone? Oh, don't mind us - you how uptight us East Coasters are! And Virginia is certainly a whole 'nother world from where I am in Boston...but if you're coming east ever, you really need to add Boston to that list! It's such a great city, big enough to have tons to do but small enough that you could walk across it in a few hours seeing sights. But don't bother coming in winter - UGH. Boston is very high on the list. I'm thinking cool road trip when I finally get to do the Savageman Tri. |
