Geesh...it's just a game.....Love, your favorite.....2010 World Series Champion San Francisco Giants fan. ps....don't engage the instigator.... I agree with Kim mostly. If it is not Swim Bike Run or Hockey I can not be bothered. I could not even tell you what TCU stood for until I read the posts in this thread! College football hold no interest for me. More power to those of you that follow it. X2!!!!!!!!!! Good morning peeps, what's everyone up to? I moved my long run from yesterday to today due to rain. Guess what? It's raining even harder today and I have tons of stuff to do later today! Not looking forward to running in squishy socks after the first 10 minutes, but it could be worse...it's only 50F out there right now and not too windy. Hope when I get back, Suzy and Fatty are done "discussing". Everyone knows the best universities are out here on the left coast... duh. You have got to be kidding me.....I had to read pages upon pages of a certain team called the GIANTS and you're crabbing about one day of discussing College football? WI grads take all college sports very seriously..... HA! I was wondering which one of you would notice the tongue in cheek, but since Doug took me seriously, I thought, what the heck, I'll play along. Spring training is just around the corner, and then we can all talk about baseball again. Remember that sewer squirrel/rodent that John posted a video of (in his toilet) in the fall? Well, I looked like that this morning when I got home from my swim...er...I meant run. Ugh. Maybe I should have been smart like Linda and checked for that opening in the weather...it was really nice out when I took the dog for her walk soon after I got back! ARRRGGGHHHH! Have a great day everyone! |

I only know about how the Pats are doing bc my other half is a fan. If you want to talk about FIS skiing though...We had a break in the rain here after lunch and got in my long run. The warm air vs the snow is making for some crazy spooky fog. |

I've got TWIN this year to keep me motivated, but who's on deck after that???? Suzy...I might be in if I can receive flight clearance from the control tower..... I would say chances are 50- 50 right now, but I will be banking "Spousal Approval Units" every chance I get for the next couple of months to see if I can pull that one off. If not 2012....then for sure in 2013 after both my girls are off to college. GOD, am I really that OLD??? Oh, and fatty...you are still outta the will!! Elite 3395 Raleigh | Subject: RE: swbkrun with us!!! - Closed Thanks for the inquiries about my recovery. For the new MG people, this past year was not what I had hoped for as my run stunk EVERY race! I thought I was going out too hard on the bike as that is my strength. After taking it easy on the bike in Augusts holding to a 19 mph average, I still ended up walking about 10 miles of the half marathon. At my yearly physical I was diagnosed with bursitis of the left achillies tendon. My doc said take it easy and take ibuprofen. Instead I went to a PT recommended by Tracy here. Turns out I half a 1/2" leg length discrepency that I was unaware of. I knew I had flat feet as I tend to make suction cup sounds when I get out of the pool. Anyway these things combined so that I was running to minimize pain which caused the bursitis not to mention tight hamstrings! So I have stretched to do every day as well as exercises every day with the sets alternating every other day. I bought a stability ball and a bosu ball. Watching me on these things must be comical, but I NEED to do it to fix my issues and come back to racing. This is why I am out of Rev3 in May. Not allowed to race hard until later in the year. I am approaching a 9 minute mile again, but the last time I ran (2 days ago) left me very uncomfortable. I was not doing my exercises as we were on vacation at Great Wolf Lodge at the time. So there is my story. Besides learning a lot about my body's imbalances, I have learned th HTFU is not a useful tool. I have learned that I was not pushing the bike too hard. And, I learned I can get some good advice here. Thanks for cecking in on me peeps. Stay safe! Doug |

Chatham Ontario | Subject: RE: swbkrun with us!!! - Closed Very Cool Doug, I suffer from my hip tightening up on my left side and it shortens my left leg by about a 1/2" I have to watch and catch this soon enough myself so that I don't injure myself as well. It happened more when I was heavier. Glad your mananging it and understanding it and sharing the info. Edited by Techdiver 2011-01-02 5:54 PM |

I can't see doing the same one twice, half the fun is the different races, I think. I'd like to do Canada, but Jeff already did it, so that may not be high on his list. What a beautiful locale, though. Texas......4 months and counting!!!!!!!!!!! |

It happened more when I was heavier. Glad your mananging it and understanding it and sharing the info. Doug, et al. I am about the most tight / inflexible person I know. I started doing hot yoga (99deg room, 60% rel humidity) a couple of weeks ago to start working on my flexibility. So far, it seems to be helping a bit as I am getting closer to touching my toes each week. I do feel a bit awkward in there with people putting there palms on the ground and and my finger tips are still 3-4 inches from my toes. Patience is a virtue that I wish I had more of. |

Veteran 200 | Subject: RE: swbkrun with us!!! - Closed OK so I had my 1st run of the year, a quick 1.7 mile run at about an 8:30 pace, no I am trying to stay in my "Heart rate zones" but my avg heart rate for the run was 170 and my max was 183. according to this site and my watch my zone two max is 153. I dint feel exerted at all and felt I could have ran forever. Does anybody have a better way to get my max heart rate and get more accurate intervals. My HRM said my max was 193. Thanks |
