We set off on our little over 1km swim to the next beach....about 100m from the shore where we're all regrouping was a fishing line going pretty deep into the ocean from a fisherman on the beach. It was clear/white - everyone good warning each other as it was head height - decapitation!!! We all tugged on it and one girl managed to get it wrapped around her earring and broke the line. Well the fisherman concerned went off his rocker! Completely nutso - swearing at us all saying us swimmers are a menace and he paid his licence to fish etc (actually think it's illegal where he was fishing but hey). He'd clearly been on the booze and his over weight 50 something wife in her white bikini joined in the fray. I mean seriously this guy wanted to take on 60 swimmers! He said we are a menace like those bloody cyclists - oh dear that resulted in all of us laughing which upset him more - because most of those swimmers are cyclists! Along comes coach Johnny and goes up to the man, very close indeed - now Johnny in his speedos is a sight, huge chest, 6 ft 4 and a heavyweight boxer in his spare time! All was well we left anyway and Sarah collected the fishing line and gave it to the man. It was just surreal had to share. And I thought I had crazy experiences! I want to live where you live and swim where you swim... I hope your husband doesn't get mad at that! He can't get mad at stuff he doesn't know about Chad!!! He might notice when I crawl into bed in my streaking outfit! LMAO. |

My mother did that with my step sister (whom has been in our family since she was 2.) My sister took her in for her senior year in high school where she proceeded to excel and then went to college and earned her Bachelors degree. Glad you are there for your niece who is very beautiful, and sounds very smart and talented. It will all work out in the long run. |

Veteran 2441 Western Australia | Subject: RE: Mad Manatee Mentors, Part 2! CLOSED Ok going looking for new bike shoes tomorrow to see if it solves the burning feet and numb toes (a lovely expensive way to solve the problem). Does anyone have suggestions? I have read many people saying that they add different inner soles into their bike shoes. I have very high arches and find in general shoes I need to add inner soles for support is this something that I need to possibly look at for my bike shoes? |

Stiffer soles are supposed to be better for cycling (thus the carbon soled models) I have insert for my cycling shoes (of course I do!). They are the kind that you stand on a machine and it molds it to you. Here's the link. From your description, it sounds like you need shoes that are not quite so tight and you may need to have them change your cleat placement. With the problem starting at 45 minutes into the ride (is that right?), I would not think that it's a pedal (SPD versus SPD-L versus Speedplay, etc.) selection issue at all but a shoe issue. |

There may also be a fit issue going on. I have custom inserts for my bike shoes but I have whack feet. Whatever you do, don't use running inserts. As J said ... STIFF soles. Running inserts (even if they "feel" hard) are meant to absorb shock, not transfer power. |

Not to mention I'm not prepared to feed four extra people!!!!!!! I have found that alarm clocks at 5:00 am, combined with me wandering about the house in jammers, muttering about pool time/cranking out 3 hours on the trainer in the living room is incentive for people to find other arrangements. I don't gaurantee success with this tactic, but it is fun none the less. |

(Except that the only guest we ever have is my mom, and I never want her to leave. I love my mommy.) |

This race I will have my Aunt's name written on the back of my race number. As well, in my race belt will be a small card with names or initials or usernames (you can see I've thought this through) of people that I will be thinking about/praying for. I have one taker at this point going on the list. If you would like your name on it, please let me know. |

The therapist doesn't think I tore anything; she thinks it is more likely a strain or the pinched nerve in my lower back causing problems. We're working on strengthening my hips and core, though, so that it's less of a problem. She did recommend not signing up for anything in the Fall until I know what's going on. |
