SSMinnow - 2010-09-03 9:32 AM Hey Tracy--can you tell us exactly who is in the group photo???  Of course I recognize you, Kyla and the hot guy on the right, but who are the rest of the peeps?  and what is up with the size of the IM Canada lake? it looks tiny, a lot like Lake Placid.  Is that a good or bad thing with 2500+ people in it?

Hey Dineen--I am an equal opportunity swallower...been in Monona at least 6 times and make sure to ingest an additional 1/4 cup each time just to be fully prepared.

Today's last longer run (I feel like I have said that for a while) went pretty well.  I've totally confirmed I would rather run in 50F, rain and wind than 80F+ with high humidity....can't say the same for the bike though!

That lake is huge. It's a relatively small beach start, but lots of room out there to swim.
I'll help with Picture.....Matt(cadmus), steve and ryan, and kyla

WOW, you really took a chance throwing that comment into this group!!!

The photo is Matt (Cadmus), Steve, Kyla, Tracy and Ryan.  The lake photo is just showing the corner beach.  The swim course actually goes a mile straight out, about 700 yds boxed turn and then a mile straight back.  Best swim course design in my opinion.  Big beach for people to spread out on and go straight for a long time.

Tracy, those are great pics!  In the one pic subtitled "bike course", that mountain looks pretty intimidating.  Do you have to go up the mountain????  Holy Moly.

Suzy, how could you not recognize everyone in the photo?  And I agree with Tracy, putting that equal opportunity swallower line in there was just a little too easy for the guys in this group.

Trevor, what is up with your post padding?

John, where are the jorts photos, and NO FAIR using my snooki tube top comment in the MG.

And as for the swallowing comment, it went over my head which is not a hard thing to do ....in retrospect, it was a poor choice of words, but you get the idea..right??? swallowing...water...lakes....ugh!

And since no one jumped on this, I will....what's up with Tony saying he loves his wife so umprompted?? Make me suspicious that he has a brand new set of disc wheels somewhere that are about to be unveiled!  Beware Sam!

Who gets dropped on a long run? Or worse, whose (best??) friends drop someone else on a long run?? SERIOUSLY!!!!

OK, so it wasn't THAT bad, and I did firmly urge my gals to "go on ahead, I'm fine back here!" Did a 20-mile run today. My bestest girlfriend who is doing Portland with me had to do 16 (as she's racing a half on Monday), my bestest training buddy who is doing the Portland half had to do 12, so we arranged it all perfectly. A and I started, picked up H at 2 miles, ran her 12, I finish up with 16 with A, and then do 4 solo at the end. Both girls were running a little faster than I tend to for longer runs early on, but it wasn't horrible (10-15 seconds faster), so I hung with them. At the turn-around (8 for A and me) they went into horse-back-to-the-barn mode and I was NOT going to go any faster knowing I still had 12 more to go. So they got more and more ahead, and I gave them the go-ahead to head on. Poor me, didn't bring my tunes and was all alone. A waited for me at H's drop-off, we topped off our waters (it was HOT, pushing 80) and headed back. Dropped off A and headed out for my 4 and it SUCKED. I was so over it. I was hot. I was sooooo thirsty even though I kept drinking. I literally stopped at 17.34 miles to give myself a huge pep-talk about keeping on, keep going, finish it up, etc. It was brutal hot (noon, more than 80 degrees). I was literally in tears at the end of the run.

But now it's over. I'm home, I'm showered. Still don't want to eat (chugged a CM and Gatorade when I was done). And I'm still friends with my gals. One of 'em is coming over later for margaritas and pizza, so it's all good. It was just a bit funny and ironic for me to have my gals do what Dave did... but at least they were sensitive to it and kept talking to me when I was behind them and did have the "moral dilemma" of whether or not to take off.

I found myself longing for Matt, Tracy, Steve, Ryan, Doug, and Chris on those Cougar Mtn. hills!!! They didn't drop me!! True training friends!!

Happy Long Weekend to all!!!

Oh, Kyla, you got it done and that is what counts.  Believe it or not, I think those 8+ miles all alone and without tunes or your running partners will help you so much at Portland.  Not wanting to get into a debate about music, but I have found that for me, running without music and all alone is very freeing.

I can listen to the sound of my feet on the pavement, the rhythm of my breathing and I think it definitely helped me to focus during those last 6-7 miles of the marathon to stay focused and strong and not slow down or have wandering thoughts.  (I don't think music/headphones were allowed at my marathon)

Nice 20 miler!!!  Enjoy your margaritas and pizza.  They are well deserved.  And glad you are still best(est) of friends with your running partners!  Go Girls!

You guys are lucky to have training partners. Even though I am in a Tri club, they all live in another city and it is hard to coordinate any early morning workouts. On tap tomorrow, another 22 mile run, solo, then a LUAU with friends!!  Enjoy your weekends everybody!

WOW, leave for a few hours and become the class fool!  I'm stopping while I am ahead....but I did get a good laugh, Paul IS a VERY lucky man AND he thought it was funny too.

Kyla--you learned a great lesson today...you are so darn tough that you can handle a few peeps leaving you behind and you can finish those long runs without music, people or fluid.  You did an IM for COL and you kicked A$$ in the swim to boot.  Suck it up baby, you have a BQ to secure.  Reflect back on that feeling when the going gets tough the next time and I guarantee it will be better.

Sam/Tony--Tony normally doesn't say mushy stuff so I thought maybe there was something more behind it....is there????

SSMinnow - 2010-09-03 9:26 PM WOW, leave for a few hours and become the class fool!

Nope just a straight up mushy moment.  LOL  We won't let it happen again.  ;-)
