dalessit - 2009-10-05 11:16 AM Virtual Tri #2?

When should we do this?  December?

new MG's start mid-december.  i say now or wait until the new one starts.

edit.  in light of the IM's and Marathons coming up, might be best to wait.   that way we can stack the deck against new peeps and destroy them!!!!

Only thing is Suzy you go from being the hunter to the hunted.  When I was on my road bike it was always sweet to pass folks riding a nice Tri-Bike.

Now I have people that want to pass me, because of my tri-bike.

I'm up for another one, though I have a sprint on Sunday and another Oct 17th.

I guess that would also force me back into the pool... the chlorine has been calling me, but the watch tells me that I've not enough time.

It seems that lots of us are talking about swimming so why not a group swim challenge.

Suzy, are the Zipps part of the deal?  If you talked about cross wind problems with Doug's Wedgie water bottle I can't imagine what a full disc would do.  But it is a very sweet ride (even if it is a Cervelo Wink)

I'm up for a virtual tri - but I really like the idea of the swim only - especially if I can't run.  Are we still talking 5K?  Can I wear my wetsuit in the pool? Wink

My Doug is such a sweetheart. I was on the phone with him in tears this morning about my leg.  I will feel so bad if I can't run B2B.  He has totally manned up and offered to run as well but that makes me feel worse.  If I only do the swim and he runs and bikes then he is doing way more work.  I tried to convince him to let me ride - saying if he could prepare for a marathon in 5 weeks then I can prepare for the bike.  We are going to wait and see what the PT says.  Doug said he is way more concerned about me being healthy to meet my goal of IMCA in 2 years over B2B.  He is wonderful but my heart still hurts.  Somehow an hour long swim with the current is not comprible to the full bike and then a marathon.  Hell, he might as well drop me and do it all himself.  Cry  Sorry for the rant.  I have quite a bit of self pitty at the moment.  I'll try to stay positive.  It may not be that bad.

fattyfatfat - 2009-10-05 11:20 AM Very sorry to hear this Matt.  Sounds like your uncle had an incredibly positive influence on you which is very cool.

Matt

I am really sorry to hear about your uncle,  but know that having someone that special in your life for any amount of time is a great gift.  I feel the same way about my dad who passed away 15 years ago.

Matt, I can't think of a better reason to DNF.  Aren't kids a hoot!
Sorry about your uncle - sounds like quite a guy.

I'd be up for a challenge - I need something to get me out the door - for any discipline.

Nah....as someone who is usually BOP out of the water, the free world is long gone!

Tracy--the Zipps are NOT part of the deal.  I have a hard enough staying aero in a cross wind.  I've been told I can get a set of race wheels, but not nearly that aggressive.  Paco is my expert on all things bike!  He will actually buy the frame set and then we can pick all the other goodies individually.  I think he is as excited to build it as I am to ride it.  A true bike geek if there ever was one.

I would be up for a second challenge, but can we have a good long time to get it done? I have a couple of running races  coming up and would like to use one of those.....we are all sticking together for next round right?

Did everyone notice that ever since Kim and I told Trevor to "MAN-UP" and sign up for Galveston he kind of disappeared? what do you think that means?

i can't wait to see what your coach is going to do to/for you.  this should be fun to watch.  its really amazing what i can do now compared to a few moths ago, not to say that i'm very good, just suck less.  and the crazy part is its not like i'm out training 400 hours a day.

and remember, i'm not linda where that was a normal workout. that was the hardest i've done.  ok for linda that would be somewhere in the 1:10 -1:15 i think, but you know what i mean.

How about a tiered swim challenge?  Divide up into teams again...

Race the following distances over 2-3 weeks:

100yd

400yd

825yd

1650yd

Average all times within the group and then do points for each distance- Fastest group = 1pt, slowest = 4pts - lowest total points wins...

Need to even up teams a little - we've had some people dissappear from the MG - like Holly and Shannon...
