enders_shadow - 2012-11-13 12:32 PM Forgive me, Downers, for I have sinned... I ate a caramel apple blondie and drank a pumpkin chai tea. It was good. It was most definitely not on my diet. And it had nothing to do with my trip. (Sadly, I think it was a reward for making it through the last two weeks, which have been work hell. I know. Not a good reason.) Worst part is, my legs aren't even working well enough to run off some penance. Maybe if I give them some yoga/roll tonight again, they'll work tomorrow. (And then I hop on a plane Thursday morning and hope to heck I can live on Lara Bars and almonds.)

Well at least it was something yummy  Don't stress over it or throw the rest of the day away....get back on track, no biggie.

What she said. Just continue on. Live on Lara Bars, Almonds and LOTS of water!

Congrats to all those that are losing!  Really great stuff!

I'm not ha ha.  My own fault.  I was doing grand and feeling really motivated and then for no reason I seemed to bounce up 4 pounds.  ??  It never makes sense and then I just got fed up and lazy.  I haven't been doing the challenges because honestly - I just want to get to the starting line for this race feeling somewhat good knowing it won't be a stellar performance.  It's too far to travel to not do the run.  Sunday I was walking in the park and was so busy looking at the pretty leaves I tripped on a tree trunk and went over on my ankle.  Doh!  Fortunately it's fine but a bit of a scare because that would SUCK going all the way there and not be able to run.  So the plan is to get through the week, have a nice weekend away and run the Philly half and then it's ON.

Keep up the good work everyone!

walked for 45 minutes today.  walked with purpose so I am counting this as movement.

I am recanting the primal diet.  I talked to a friend of mine who just became an Ironman at IMFL, and lost 50 lbs this year, prior to peak training and she told me that changing her diet to vegan really made a big difference.  She suggested Engine 2 book.  I went to Barnes and Noble today and invested in myself! Time to get reading.  I've been vegetarian on and off but never tried full on vegan.  No matter what, I am controlling my portions and being mindful so even if this isn't the way to go, at least I am being mindful of what I am eating.

First time back in the gym to lift in a very long time.  It felt good to lift......but I may not be saying that tomorrow.

Today, I did what I had time to do after 20 minutes of my lunch/PT time being brutalized by training. I was only able to wedge in 15 minutes on a LifeFitness exercise bike for a total of 5.9 miles. I had it set to "random" on level 10. Maintained 115+ RPM for the entire 15 minutes. Then I went straight to the LifeFitness treadmill for 15 minutes. I had that set to random, as well, set to level 8. Max incline was 6.4%. Pace was such that I only did 1.36 miles.

Weighed in today also. 234... 6 pounds down!

I don't have a clue on how it got there.

Tomorrow is a new day..woo hoo.

I've read parts of Engine 2 as well as "Thrive" by Brendan Brazier and "Finding Ultra" by Rich Roll.  Both are Vegan and are endurance athletes.  I've also read "Eat to Live" by DR Fuhrman who is changing the lives of his patients by converting them to Vegan.  Just be warned that when you mention "vegan" to people the first thing they will bring up is that you will not get enough protein....when is the last time anyone went to the DR for a "protein deficiency"?   You may need to put more thought into balancing the way you eat depending on training levels, but it can be done.  Looking forward to hearing about your results!

Congrats on your "random workouts" and being DOWN 6 POUNDS!!!!!!

Thanks!!

I like the random setting on the machines.  The sub I'm on is currently in a shipyard... running on the yard is not idea.  My bike is still mammories skyward, so I can't just hop on and go (not to mention, I don't have it when I'm at work).  Using the machines is about my only option.
Using the random setting, I can get a widely varied workout in.  Forcing myself to maintain a given cadence, in my mind, adds to the challenge.

I need to clean up my eating just a bit more.  Thinking of getting the whole family on a modified paleo diet, just to make things easier on me (and to give some benefits to the family, as well).  That will bring the weight down some.  Because I don't think I would feel so great or look so great if I went further, my goal is to bottom out at 225lbs.  I'll call it 10 to go.  Getting there shouldn't be too horribly hard; it's maintaining that will seem difficult.

(BTW, still waiting on the repent photos.  Wink  )

Great job on the workouts.  When you're tempted to chow down, just remember the work you put into working out.  You don't want to offset that.

Yes, Jim.....I know I owe a pic

Was not feeling great yesterday and came home made myself a "green juice"...spinach, cucumber, cilantro, cabbage, and celery with a bit of ginger....felt much better.  Have noticed my cravings are starting to get under control and I'm less hungry.

My uncle told me to take 500 Mg of Monolaurin, seems to have made me healthy, along with my green juice I got it at the health food store.

I just looked that up. I am going to get some to have on hand in case (or when) the crud comes around again. I had ruptured tendons from a particular class of antibiotics and I really don't want to have to take them unless it is absolutely necessary. Thanks.

I'm an impatient guy. :-)

For a guy who dislikes the texture and flavor of most any green food, you "green juice" sounds horrible. LOL

The more mileage I add tomy runs, the more insatiable my appetite gets. Fortunately, some guys at work have been bringing in a lot of smoked venison... LOVE that stuff, and I don't feel guilty eating a lot because it has a really low saturated fat content!
