Mama bear story...

Saturday DH, DS1 and I were at a church function that we do every month. DH and DS1 work on cars and I help do "service writing". A woman we'll call Cindy was working on the same crew with my guys but from what I understand she's on that crew so the "manager" can keep an eye on her work. Anyhoo, Cindy sees the 10k oval sticker on DS1's truck (which I bought for him after Bolder Boulder) and tells him that it's embarrasing to have that on there and he should have anything less than a HM.

Of course I didn't find out until later when we were home. He handled it well and talked about BolderBoulder and the fact that I'm doing Rock N Roll. Not sure that I'd have been as polite. 1) I hate it when runners/cyclists belittle other's accomplishments and  2) the mama bear factor. I told DS1 I'd have told her that 13.1 is my cool down. Grrrrrrrr.

What a beeeooooch. She should just be embarrassed that she's a B****. I'd tell her that.

Right? I just can't understand that mentality. I try so hard to encourage people into being active that discounting someone's accomplishment boggles my mind.

You can tell her to come on up to Seattle and I will race her in a 10K, since it's so easy I'm sure she'd be glad to do it.

I like it. Oh, and I guess when she first got there she made a general announcement to anyone who would listen that she might stink because she'd been running that morning. Um yeah, 1) shower 2) sounds like she just wants to brag about running.

Welcome back!

You have the Pearl Izumi tri shorts, right?  The In-R-Cool 8" Tri Short? Do you like them?  My recent pair of DeSoto 400 mile shorts don't fit like the old ones and I'm looking for other options.

(Other's feel free to chime in here!)

I've been using and loving these http://www.sierratradingpost.com/orca-226-lite-tri-shorts-upf-50-pl... believe they have a regular ( not lite for summertime) version too. The pad is not as thick as the 400s, so that may be a deal breaker for you.

I have these ones... http://www.pearlizumi.com/content/pearlizumi/united-states/en/home/products/women/ride/apparel/shorts/shorts-11211126.html

but they're more of a cycling short than a tri short - I don't think I'd want to run in them afterward, but they're great for longer rides and I used them for IMAZ last year and then just changed in T2 to running tights.

I like my PI sugar shorts, I wore those for my HIM, and they were great.  For my other races (all shorter) i've just worn some black Nike fitted running shorts, which are fairly short with zero pad.  No issues.

I'm seriously considering racing in just a swimsuit next year, probably just a plain black Tyr two piece that I swim in cause I hate having stuff across my belly.  Have any of you done that?  If so, how often did you train like that?

I really think I'd prefer it for racing, but being the woman who runs or rides in a bikini for training give me serious, serious pause.

I got a pair of PI bike shorts at the last REI clearance sale. I luf them. They are comfortable AND flattering. What a concept!

It's funny, I really like their cycling ones, but I really hate the PI tri shorts.  If anyone wants a pair, I'll send em your way.  Been worn for one ride...

I'd ask but them you'd know that I'm not thin :-(

What I don't like about the tri shorts that I love about the cycling shorts is the waist and leg band width.  The cycling shorts have a bit wider waist band and leg band and I think it's both more comfortable and more flattering.  The cycling shorts also have a lower rise in the waist, and that's more comfortable for me--stuff on my belly makes me hot and uncomfortable.

Absolutely!!!  I've also got a pair of PI tri shorts that I will use as a last resort because of the thinner waist and leg bands.  I don't think I could just race/train in a bathing suit, or with my midriff exposed - I'm just not in good enough shape for that, and I don't want to cause anyone to have to reach for the eye bleach.

Manatees, you might want to check out Dawn's race report.  She's no longer a tri virgin!

Way to finish strong with a PR on the run!

DH got a closer look at her stubborn streak.Tongue out

We went to The Spotted Dog in Springdale for dinner Sat night. Fantastic food! My son said it's the best meatballs he's ever had in his life (lol). I ordered salmon on a parmesan and wild mushroom risotto...and it is still making my mouth water!

We saw bison, bighorn sheep, deer, lizards, frogs, fish, chipmunks while we were out and about. As we were leaving, we stopped at the nature center which was VERY kid friendly.

Your pictures make me smile and your children are so adorable!  And I really want the salmon over risotto...

I have to do a little side brag here. The regional 10K championships were held on Saturday and while I am green with envy that I couldn't compete, my running partner took first in her AG!

I know the Pac NW 10K champion, personally. That's right, I know her!

TJ, so sorry you had to spend time with one of those types of folks. I have found that the more races I do, the more races and distances I want to try. I also found that as I typed more, I got more frustrated.

Speaking of bishes... Hope Solo and I are no longer an item. We went and saw her play Saturday night. I already knew this, somehow her beauty always reels be back in, but what a terrible attitude! And the way she ignored her fans when every other girl on the team gave the little kids autographs and high fives and stuff, ugh!

Kirsten, BTW, I got to see Christine Sinclair play. Wow! Hellof a player right there! Very cool.

That's funny. I sent it to DS1. I'm sure he'll appreciate it!

That was completely AWESOME!

It reminded me of this one.  Love me some Yuri :)

Salty, you know why this resonates with me;)

Ah schnap, you ARE Yuri! THE CHAMPION Smile I'll remember that for life.

I'm not quite as bad as Yuri, but, damn, I have the tendencies.

The first step is admitting the problem :)

Well, I could use a little of that competitive nature. There's gotta be a happy medium somewhere, eh?

I'd like to program my Garmin to say "Salty disapproves" when I go outta Z2.  Fo real.

Very cool.

I know, right!  Man she was a one woman show at the Olympics.  Seems to always have time for fans too.  Sorry to hear about you and Hope though, she sure is purty.

Hahaha totally.

Except wait, even the whole "Z" thing is out of my vocabulary Smile

But I could have an audio cue of you saying, "Hunt that b*tch down and eat her for breakfast."
