JHagerman - 2009-10-13 1:56 PM NO, I stole the idea from a shirt company called VengaVenga (I think that's the name).  I used a stock photo of a Cervelo P2 as that's what I have and then Googled 'Michigan' and found an image of the state.  I just copied the BT logo from the top left of the screen and resized it, then converted it to BW and adjusted the contrast.   My bike image is better than the VengaVenga one, much more clean.

I'd say do let's do th CafePress idea.  I've used a few shirt company's online, could go that route too... but with CafePress each person could get exactly what they wanted - even a thong!

You know John is in for the thong...

as long as you can add the no manscaping details.

For those that sent me their address, you should be expecting a padded white envelope later this week. Let me know when you get it. The wood is NC Sycamore and you they take standard pen cartridges. Just pull the top off. Enjoy.

dalessit - 2009-10-13 10:49 AM So are we a team?

Are you part of a team or club participating in the Lone Star Triathlon Fest? Texas is all about tailgating! We will host a team tailgating area inside Moody Gardens, near transition. This is your chance to have a gathering spot for your team and to cheer on athletes. Bring your tents, trailers, bbq, picnics and energy! Email [email protected] to secure your spot inside the park!

Heck yes!  Do we want a team shirt or should we get BT tri tops?  (Not a t-shirt with black magic marker on it either, John)

I was more interested in having a tent where family can hang out, Since John wears the pants, he can get his wife working the grill for post race food : )

Absolutely on the tent and food!  I see if I can find a good 12x12 awning style tent for us.  My daughter will probably be at the Moody Gardens thing for kids.  My wife will probably want to go hit the strand for some wandering around and shopping time.  I am sure that she would like some company.  We will have transportation for up to 4 people.

John, you know anyone with a trailer bbq pit?

OK, I got a problem...  I was cruising around Amazon the other day and they had the Garmin 305 for $140...  That's like $160 off the list price.  I know that it is the older model, but it will serve my purpose just fine.  However, my wife gets nutted up everytime I buy anything from like the first of October until Christmas every year - you know, why did you buy that with Christmas so close, stop buying yourself Christmas presents, yada-yada-yada...

So, anyway, I convice her to let me buy it to be from her to me for Christmas.  After I bought it, she adds, but you won't get to open it until Christmas...  Now I have to figure out how to make Christmas come early (like this Thursday...)  Anyone got any ideas?

Mine was a two month early birthday present and we had already worked out the deal.

I got it and used it.  On my birthday we put it back in the box and wrapped it so the kids could see what they got me.  Unfortunately all three of them recognized the 305 and called BS.

Damn you all, just when I had myself talked out of Lonestar you go and make it really sound fun!!!   Maybe I can ditch the hubby and fly solo - that would be cheaper right?   I would rather have a sports bra than a T-shirt to race in - but that's just me.  Don't exactly want to see some of the guys in sports bras.  I'll really have to think about this now.

Speaking of race outfits, wasn't it Barry who had the bet with a buddy about wearing a certain race outfit......what ever happened with that?  We want photos or it didn't happen.

Funny story,  if some of you remember there is a photo of me leaving T1 for the bike during my half with a guy in shorty black shorts, no top and a hydro pack on.  Well, he made another race appearance at the Dougs' olympic this weekend.  I saw him exitiing T1 with his bike and burst out laughing.  People around me were looking at me like I was nuts, it probably was rather rude, but I couldn't help myself.  Please men, don't race in shorty shorts.  It's not a good look, especially from the back on the bike.

Ahh, better yet:

It may be easiest, since we're looking at less than 20 shirts, to order them on your own.  You can go to CafePress or Custom Ink and design the shirt and upload/use the image and put it on whatever shirt, mug, thong that you want.

I that's the route the group wants to go, then email me and I'll send you the original .gif image that you can use for the shirt.  From there you can choose the shirt style and the color of the image.  If you want me to order them as 1 unit to see if we can get a price break, I will.

I love the image but think a more sarcastic tag line would be more appropriate for our group.  Someone might expect results from us or something........

Editted for after thought, if we are making our own shirts how about we personalize the saying?

I would rather have a sports bra than a T-shirt to race in - but that's just me.  Don't exactly want to see some of the guys in sports bras.

Ahh, I may have missed the 'race shirt' aspect of this.  I was thinking along the lines of a Podium Tee.  A shirt to wear around before and after the race.  Those are about $25... but race wear is a lot more expensive for a small order.  Tech tee's start around $20 for the shirt alone.

looking at the site, you can pretty much get whatever you want.  I would prefer what you are talking about Jermey just a t-shirt, they have the organic cotton ones for 28 bucks.

Though tracy feel free to get the sprots bra by all means...

DO IT!! SIGN UP! COME ON!
This will be my one destination race for the whole year.....and if you remember I gave it to myself for our 20th wedding anniversary.  Come up with a holiday and make it work.

I'm with Tracy on the outfit.  I will wear a t-shirt proudly, but not for the race.  I always wear a tri top with built in bra from start to finish!

Since I know I am officially done growing longer legs, I sadly put a bullet in the P4 due to minus 1'+ standover....just didn't make sense to me.   Fitter is coming over to set up the GURU Magis geometry tomorrow.  Fingers crossed.

Ramping up the miles for the 50k is going pretty good. I've logged 75 miles so far this month. They've been slow, and I'm being pretty cautious about it, but I'm getting closer to where I should be on the training plan. I've even found some trails to run... figured it would be a good idea to actually do some trail running before doing a 50k trail run

Roni- It's all about pacing!  I couldn't image trying to figure out what pacing would be for a 50k trail run.... Speaking of trail run.  We missed you last week!  Next time you are please give me more than an hours notice and we will hook up for sure !!!!  Just one bit of advice.... Please hit the trails soon.  It is very different running on trails than road.  Believe it or not your are working different muscle groups trail running.  Plus your ankles need stregthening-- HIT THE TRAILS!!!

Sorry about last week, Steve. I know I didn't give you much notice, and then I got your reply too late. We were only in Tacoma for 3 days, and had just got back from Butte, MT (seeing my daughter off to boot camp). It was a crazy couple of weeks with an even crazier travel schedule. Next time we're in the area I'll definitely give you more notice. We'd love to meet up with you!

You are way too right about the trail running. I quickly realized how different it is after going for my first trail run after signing up for the 50k Surprised Who signs up for a 50k trail run before doing any trail running?!?! Apparently, me. Embarassed I hike... I run, but I had never really mixed the two. I have found some trails to work in to my running here in Walla Walla, and I'm trying to increase the mileage on them gradually, because, as you mentioned, it works different muscles and my calves and ankles have a tendency to get a little cranky. One good thing is, from what I've heard, the trails for Woodside aren't very technical. However, there is about 4500' elevation gain, ouch!
