MDHillSlug - 2009-07-09 9:55 AM I got in a morning shakeout ride on my tri bike, almost 17 miles of unplanned riding. The rear shifting is better but still not quite right. I'm gonna have to live with it for Sunday since I won't have another chance for a test ride.

Go Argyle!

I'm having similar rear shifting issues with my tri bike. Hopefully its not too bad for your race this weekend! Goodluck!

There's one cog that it doesn't want to shift onto or wants to skip over. It's actually in a combo that I probably shouldn't be in anyway. My race route is supposed to be pretty flat so hopefully I won't be in the small chain ring using small cogs.

Got in a short ride yesterday evening.  Been sick, so nothing big.  Every little bit gets us closer to 100% though

Happy Friday!!!

I'm thinking Garmin Slipstream is looking very respectable since the start of the tour.  Stage wins are one thing but they have some action in the standings.....  Got ride # 4 of 9 planned in today.  I honestly cannot imagine how hard it would be to ride one of those TdF stages never mind mostly daily......for 21 stages..... :P

Nice riding everyone.  Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Third session done yesterday. 1h15minutes. I wanted to ride a bit longer but it started to rain so I turned back. Then I did a 20 minute run Good times.....

I'm new at clipless pedals. I'm doing pretty good, I don't forget to unclip and haven't fell YET LOL Yesterday I get to a very busy intersection and can't unclip my right foot (which is my 'good' side). It's stuck there and won't come out. I'm thinking that's it I'm going to fall!! I managed to undo my shoe and take it off (like I learned with my tri-club). Whew that was close LOL I think my HR was at 350!!! I had to pry the shoe off the pedal.... Luckely I have 2 sided pedals and rode to my LBS and they fixed it for me. That was a scary experience LOL

Hey team!  I managed to break my hand after I crashed my bike on Sunday!  I will not be able to ride a bike outdoors for 4-6 weeks.  I had been scheduled for my first triathlon on August 9th!  <img align='middle' src='https://beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/images/emoticons/frown.gif'>

I would like to know if I can still participate in the challenge using a stationary bike, trainer and/or spinning classes?  Can anyone answer this? If not, I will have to drop out of the challenge.

I hope everyone is doing well with their goals.  Keep riding Team Garmin Slipstream!

Linda

What a bummer Linda! Hope you heal quickly.  I teach spin and asked Cat about counting it and she said everything counts- spin, trainers and outdoor rides.  Be careful though!  Could you change your race to late August or September?

Cat also told me that everything counts, so I am hanging with the challenge.  So far, I have been riding the stationary bike.  I am planning to pick up a couple of spin classes this week.  I figure I just need help setting up the bike...and I don't want to look too much like a spectacle!!!  I am trying to find a race in Sept.

Close call, good job avoiding the spill! I fell a couple times in the first week with my clipless pedals when I first got them several years ago, always hurts the ego more than anything else!

So I took today off because my legs were starting to feel pretty crappy this morning and I was tired from a late night. The weather was so nice I had to do something outside after returning from the bike shop, so I took the dogs hiking/swimming at North Lake, not too far from here. They had a blast and it was so fun being outside just enjoying the afternoon.

Happy Monday Team Argyle!

After Kayaking, I went for a 7.5 mile MTB ride on Sunday.  This is the course for my X/C tri in October.

Finally, a great weekend in the Northeast and I was happy I got to take advantage of it.

how was your race?! and why did they cut it down to a du?

There was heavy rain overnight so by morning the river was high, fast, and dirty. They replaced the swim with the 1.9 mile run the registered duathletes would be doing.

As I was setting up transition I couldn't wrap my mind around doing a du and decided that all I cared about was maximizing the bike. I took run1 at a comfortable pace, didn't stress at all in T1, and then threw everything at the bike. My goal was 20mph. I was passing everything in site and wasn't passed at all until 12 miles in when 3 women got past me and I couldn't keep pace with them. I ended up missing 20mph by 13 second, probably lost it on the dismount and run over the timing mat.

My legs were totally trashed at this point and run2 was a real suffer fest and I was so glad when it was over.

The bike ride was SO much fun, everything else not so much. The whole race and race weekend suffered from logistical problems and I won't be repeating this race!
