Hey, rabkadude, I met leafdog on the IM Moo bike loop today.  Said he knows ya.

yep... jeff lives about 30 minutes from me... he allows me to chase him and his other IM buddies from time to time...  I cant seem to catch him though...  must his funky helmet or the yellow paint... rofl.

Can anyone confirm if athena and clydes start in the same wave as their age group? I've read conflicting reports on this.

I'm trying to determine where in the line up I'd begin as a F25-29. As a back of packer, I'm naturally nervous about cutoffs with the bike. I assume they're strict at SORT.

As a Clyde I started in one of the last waves last year.

Was it a clyde-only wave, or were you intermixed within your age group?

I don't think they have cutoffs on at SOR...Looking at results from last year, a handful of bikesplits right at 4hrs. Finishing times has high as 8:34 overall.

I can only go based off what I saw at the HIM last year and how the sprint was run.

At the HIM, the only cutoff time there was (there was one, fyi) was for the swim.  I can't remember WHAT it was, but I think it was something like 1.5 hrs after the last wave went off.  There were no bike cutoffs...I would know, I was the carnival barker telling people where the dismount line was...and I was never told to tell someone they couldn't continue (and I had the hoarse voice and sore legs for days for standing out there for hours).

In the sprint, the Clydes went off in their own wave, next to last.  The Athena, on the other hand (I was one, so I have 1st hand knowledge) went with the first wave of non-elite females.  I'm not sure if it was done that way in the HIM, but it probably was.

I'm 85% certain that I was separate from my AG.

For what it's worth...I'll probably be right around a 4:20ish bike split. Hopefully less if my back complies...

Actually...I may be closer to 4 considering it's not nearly as hilly as the Kansas 70.3 course. Hrmm...maybe I'm not as screwed as I thought.

Are the roads full of "deceiving flats"?

This course is flat. Some inclines, I don't care what they say on the site there are no hills. Rode the whole course in the big ring a couple of weeks ago...The steepest 'hill' is leaving the park.

It's quite flat.  The only thing to worry about is at the start and slowing down before the dismount.

I'm really looking forward to driving this course the day before (assuming I have time). All the descriptions say rolling hills and enough to keep you honest...but it sounds like that's a bit off the mark from the race reports and feedback I've heard.

What's the terrain like? Lots of loose gravel? Smooth pavement? Lots of vibrations felt?

In all honest, the state of the roads are pretty much for crap.  This winter's damage has not been able to be completely repaired, not to mention the fact that the roads were the best to begin with.  Some aren't too bad, but some of them will leave you with your teeth vibrating.

Its the site for computrainers, you can upload various courses (and create courses) for your computrainer. Just got mine, haven't even put it together but there are over 200 free courses for computrainers.
