I am in.  Signed up for "Revenge on the River".  This will be my third IM.  First one (IMFL) went great.  IMLou 2008 was not good at all.  Never been in an ambulance until that day.  Definitely looking forward to 2009.

There were more than 56 BTers signed up though.  We had a really good finish percentage and I think we did much, much better than the overall race did for % finishers.

IMKY had a DNS/DNF rate of 33%.  I think the BT DNS/DNF rate was much less than this.  And there is a good reason for this.  I think  having a 'support group' to be able to cuss and discuss your issues and concerns is very helpful.  Sometimes it helps just to come and vent your frustations and it's helpful to see other people having some of the same issues and pressing thru.  "What one person can do, another can do." is a favorite mantra of mine and seeing other people's logs give me an idea of what is possible.  If I ever need to feel guilty for missing a workout, I'd go look at Amy's log.

I'd encourge everyone who is doing IMKY 2009 to engage on the IM board and use your logs.  The IMKY 2008 BTers became good friends over the course of the year and by the time we got to Louisville, it was like a reunion of old friends....even though most of us had never even met face to face.  Inspire other people as much as you can in their logs.  Eveyone like to be 'inspired' and most will reciprocate.

~Mike

I'm in again! I wish it was at the beginning of the season though! As for hotels we had friends in most of them and the only one that I heard complaints about was the Galt due to the business of it. So I would say all were good, its just depends if you want a kitchen or not.

Good luck to everyone and safe training

i stayed across the river and loved mine, maybe a 5 min walk to 4-5 good restaurants, but mine had a nice little kitchen area, stove, microwave, full size fridge and cabinets for stuff.

First day I went to the local grocery store to get stuff to much on and drink for my whole time there

Looking forward to following everyone's progress on BT leading up to IMKY09.  Plan to use this to inspire me to keep going through the winter.

Question:  What kind of activities (if any) besides transition watching go on during the day of the race in the start/finish area?  I'm wondering what kinds of things my wife and kids (4 and 5 then) might be able to do during the day.  I'm all ears if anyone has suggestions.

Thanks.

The La Grange festival is fun for kids.  My 6 year old niece came to watch me race and had a really good time there, plus we'll pass through there twice on the bike.  Before the race, my entire crew had a blast making cheering signs.

Like Abbie said, a lot of families go to the LaGrange frestival.  The Louisville Slugger plant is a few blocks west of finish line area and that is an interesting tour.  They also have tours at Chruchhill Downs.

Plenty of time to talk about game day....right now we need to be talking training plans and how to maintain your base thru the winter months.  :-)

Since I brought it up....my plan is to focus on running this winter and not just maintain but build my running base by training for a couple of 1/2 marys and maybe a full marathon too.  I will ride on Saturdays as long as it is not too cold and/or wet.   Pretty much no swimming till early spring.

So what is your 'winter plan' on the road to IMKY 2009?

The Galt House is race HQ and I highly reccomend it.  I really liked being right in the middle of things.  The expo is there, registration is there, bike tech is there, medical is there, massages are there and a whole like of fellow triathletes are there.  If you go to Disney World, get a Disney hotel is you want the whole Disney experience and if you do an IM, stay at race host hotel.  This statement is obviously my opinion and I could be wrong...but I don't think so.  :-)
