I've been doing Jorge's bike plan and trying to run 3 times a week.  I plan on getting back in the pool after the 1st of the year.

Regarding lodging:  Has anyone ever stayed in the camping area? I haven't called yet but that sounds like fun to me!

My buddy has camped and we are planning on doing it again. He said it is pretty nice. Nuttin' fancy of course but...

The camping at Gunstock is great....You'll also be able to take the shuttle from there on Race Morning, very easy in/out of Ellacoya.

S'mores and music around the campfire each night, too.
Of course, you gotta like camping

you have to contact Gunstock directly, and book the sites through them. They have something like 500 sites, so you should be ok. I think it did fill up last year, though.

I'll buy a round as well. Nothing like an ice cold beer after a race.

If I get organized enough and I have the time, I'll brew 5 gallons of some summer wheat beer in time for the race. Thats roughly 24 champagne bottles worth of beer....or almost a 50 pack...I think that should cover everybody?

Hi all!  I just registered yesterday, and this is going to be my first HIM.  I've been going back and forth between being overly excited and terrified beyond belief.....currently terrified after reading through the thread.  Happy training and hope to meet up with some BT folks up there!

I'm sure between now and 8/23 I'll ask myself about 5 million times what on earth I've gotten myself into....but I could not be more excited!

I'm really glad I made my decision and registered the other day bc the race is now SOLD OUT!

How is everyone doing?? I am still mucking around on my own, training lots but with no particular structure. I have decided that a coach is too much $$$ (1/3 of a Cervelo!!!!) so I'm thinking of using one of the plans here on BT.

What are you guys doing about training plans?

using one of the plans here and an EN plan - sort of using both to give me some structure - making it to a coached bike class 2x per week and swim coach 1x per week....keep telling myself I will go to masters......

I registered for the 70.3 today!! This will be my first HIM, and I am quite excited, but nervous at the same time lol. Is anyone going to NH to ride the course at some point before the race?

Yay! I did not think there were spots left....good for you! I would love to go down to NH and ride the course before the race. Logistics of it might be tricky for me though.

What kind of training plan are you going to follow?? We are just about six months away.....gulp......

As far as training plans go, I have been loosely following an Olympic plan on here (minus the running because of IT band problems)

I am torn between "Beginner HIM" and "20 Week HIM" plans on here. I uploaded the Beginner plan last night, since initially I thought the 20 week had too much volume, but I reviewed it again this morning and it wasn't as bad as I thought. Whatever I do I need to figure it out soon!

I really have to get my butt in gear and check out the training plans.........to be honest I am afraid that I will NOT enjoy actually following a plan. I love to train but like to decide what to do each day based on a whim. But I know this is not going to serve me well in the end.

Seth, that's awesome!  I will definitely be heading up to NH to ride the course at least once.  I plan on making a long weekend sometime and camping at Ellacoya to swim, bike, run parts of the course.

I have uploaded the 20 week HIM plan and will follow that.  I backed in from race day until June 15th though due to a sprint in mid June (Hyannis).  I'll be training with a plan I made for base in April, speed for May and early June, and then immediately after the sprint start following the 20 week plan.

If we all use the 20-week plan maybe we can all nag each other and keep each other honest by following the plan together...
