Howdy - my name is Duane - married - father of 4 - 15, (almost) 6, (almost) 5 and (almost) 3.  My 6 year old has repeatedly told me she wants to run a race with me - but that may be March's challenge when it will be easier to be outside here in the midwest.  I am a prosecutor by trade and I am beginning my training for a half marathon on May 1 (Quincy - it's the Illini Marathon in Champaign - are you in?) so I will be running.  I have a plan, finally, just have to compute what the distance is to properly figure my goal.  I will be adding ST in the form of weights and or P90 X to round it out.  G'luck all.

Duane,

veeery tempting...I would do a race a weekend if I could get away with it...DH is probably working that weekend so I'd have to push the kids in the jogger...actually not a big deal to me but probably not allowed

Well there's a level of insanity dedication that I hadn't considered - 13.1 miles with a jogger....

Hyannis Half Marathon on February 28.  A nice 13.1 mile run around Cape Cod.  I get to pick out my summer house while running.  Love this race!   KOM will be there too!

^^^^That being said, I am running 10 miles today.  It should be warmer here today than it has been.  I'm thinking 20s and maybe even low 30s as opposed to teens.  It's a heat wave!

D001 - 2010-01-30 5:15 PM Hugs? I'm on Team Hugs? Yeah. I'm just not picturing me involved in a group hug kinda thing.... I think I know most of the team though. So most of you understand what I mean when I say I'm not really into the touch-feelie kinda thing. (Or maybe I am, but in a different way???? LOL) And for the few people who I *don't* know..... Well, my name is Dee, and I'm addicted to the Challenge forum. My goal is going to be 28 days of PF stretches. It's NOT that I love plantar fasciitis. But I'll love it when the PF is all gone. So I'm going to use this challenge in an attempt to stomp the PF into the ground.

Hi, my name is Sal.  I'm addicted to sleep.  However, if I'm not up early and out the door by 6:30, my commute becomes miserable, and I miss my morning workout.

February is all about getting on the trainer.  HIM coming up in June, and last year's 'bike' miles were pitiful.

Hope to be able to catch up on old episodes of The Office.

ETA: Oh, but running will be my Feb love...

Hugs? It's just a name. Coin a new team name that incorporates "hug" if you'd like. If Yanti shows up this will definitely be her team Anyway, I figured you could anchor the chatty team
What? Are you calling me an *anchor*???????????????

Judging by your swimming logs, this may not be too far off!

sounds like my kind of Du.

I have a 5K on Sat.  Was going to sign up for the 10, but was a little chicken since my running hasn't been strong lately and there are a lot of hills in this course.

I honestly have no clue.  there is a 5K, a half, and a full marathon, and a relay.  price goes up the first of every month.  According to the newsletter I just go - race is currently 1/2 full with registrants from 40 states, which is impressive.  I don't think they are going to get anyone from Alaska or Hawaii though.....

Not until March 6th, when I have an early St Pattys Day 4 mile run planned. It's still too frozen here to have outdoor races (for the semi-sane) in February! I'd love to be able to do a du this time of year! I miss riding outside...

Looks great.  I really should get around to doing the January team chart

Hello all!  Nice to see so many familiar faces names.  I, too, am addicted to challenges.  This will be 4 or 5 months in a row for me (Dee, would you be so kind as to add me to the chart above?).  For those I haven't "met" before, I'm Bill, I'm 43, I have 3 daughters ages 6, 9 and 12.  This will be my 3rd year of triathlons.  I completed a HIM last September and swore "NEVER AGAIN" only to sign up for another one 3 weeks later.  This year my calendar is 1 sprint (Memorial Day Weekend), 2 Oly's (June and early August) and 1 HIM (Syracuse Ironman 70.3 in September).  I'm strongly considering adding a half mary to my calendar in the Spring, since my running needs the most work.  And thus, running will be my "love" for this challenge.  I can't access the spreadsheet here at work, but will add my goals tonight.  Have a great month everyone!

I'm contemplating a 1/2 Marathon on March 21st.  I'm not sure if I'll have time to ramp up my run volume that quickly, but it would certainly be the motivation I need to get my butt out on the street for some long runs.  Decisions... Decisions...

And that is exactly how I got talked into my HIM last year.  mav said that to me and I foolishly registered.  Great experience but boy did I suffer.  Going back this year for some redemption!

Got my 10 miles run.  It wasn't pretty but I got it done.  Almost 600 ft of climbing and a wicked head wind the last few miles.  Foam rolled and ice bathed and just finished lunch.  Time for a nap!
