I lost 20 lbs last spring and was soo happy. Started eating like crap this spring and gained it all back. Uggg. Time to get serious again. Goal weightloss for month of June - 8lbs. I've been working out and losing weight for a while now, down 65 lb to 204. Today's weight was 205.2, though, so perhaps I should start there. Goal for end of June is 195. I, too, track my exercise elsewhere, though I think I'll explore the training log here as well to see if I will find it useful. Calluna, Nothing to be bashful about as we are all here for the same reason...whatever it may be. Lose weight, feel better, cuter clothes or run/bike/swim faster. The point is that you are here and we want to help each other so welcome. |

A little background: I turned 40 on May 10th. Back on Jan. 1 I vowed to change my life and hit 40 feeling fabulous and I did. I went from 168 to 132 (I'm 5'1") and I finally got into a size 6. Since then I've been struggling a bit to find my mojo and keep it. I haven't weighed myself for weeks but I know I'm up a bit as some of my new clothes are getting tiiiiight. I think Team Skinny will be great for me to help with accountability as I head into summer. I have trouble not being on a schedule and come Saturday morning, I am schedule free! My first triathlon is August 21st--I am so looking forward to starting serious training! The only other training I've done before is for half marathons and marathons so this will all be new. I will face the scale tomorrow and weigh in a day late and get with the Wednesday weigh ins next week and learn as I go--I have a lot to figure out on this site as far as training logs, etc. Two more days of school and then I'm free as a bird!!! ingleshteechur, Welcome to the team. Heck I weighed in on the weekend, ate like complete crap one day and felt horrible for it both physically and mentally, more physically then anything. I am wondering if eating that way triggered my metabolism again or something. Right after I went back into 1800 ish calories a day and lots of veg to keep me full. I am on a lower carb menu plan for myself 125-185g of carbs a day. anyways I was in shock yesterday and this morning. May end = 248 Jun 2 = 246 Down two more pounds. I can't wait to see myself under 240, I have not been there since college. Down 20 lbs from when I started now, my wife is down 11lbs. Very proud of her... still trying to convince her to come on here and use this site even though she is not into tri. Thanks everyone for insperation and accountability. Feeling GREAT today. Doesn't anyone read my advice...Geesh!!! If you stay within a pretty strict diet all week or maybe a few calories less then you actually need then your Leptin levels drop. Your metabolism slows and weight quits disappearing. 1 day a week bump up calories (not hugely) to refill glycogen and leptin levels. Then rehit your training the nest day...Instant weight loss (sort of). |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Ok, so damage was not as bad as I thought! 6/3: 133.5 That puts me up only 1.5 pounds. I had visions of seeing 145 on the scale. I still have my chubby girl mentality in my head and although 145 may not sound bad, on my 5'1" frame, 145 is chubby. My goal for the end of June is 128. I would love to break my 130 plateau. My short term goal is to make it through the end of the year party tomorrow night without eating sugary junk. I want to do a good workout early Saturday morning and past experience has taught me if I fill my body with crap the night before, I have a horrible food hangover the next morning. Another short term goal is to make /pack healthy food for a two day trip my youngest daughter and I are taking to the zoo/aquarium & then a waterpark. |

But I think I derived some of this from you and talking last week... I was doing the 1800-1900 calories a day and picking 2 days a week to bump up to 2200-2300. I don't think that work. I think the one day at like 2500 calories and more carb based intake that day did. I am listening now... ALL EARS... will see how this week goes as well. I like it, means I get to be bad on Saturdays for eating.. sort of... Still watching where it comes from and not consuming 1200 ish calories in one meal like I did. Welcome to all the new people I was a newbie last month. Excited to see how everyone is doing this month and open to ideas and tips... |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I am in. I need to get back on the wagon. After getting down to 195lbs at 5'11' in the fall of '08, I felt soooo good. That was a loss of about 40lbs over about a year. In '08 I started having pain behind my knee and then in my shoulder.... After almost 2 years of trying to find the problem with the legs, I finally was diagnosed with a bulged disk and herniated disk that is causing the pain. So, about 2 years later, I have gained back 20lbs. So, I am not fixed but I know now I am not injuring my muscles/tendons by exersizing and can at least work on methods to deal with the issue rather than having no idea. My goal is to be under 200lbs by the fall for my brothers wedding. I think it can be done but I need to watch my intake and get more calories burning. I started swimming 2 weeks ago but am starting at little swim fitness and can't do more than about 20 minutes per session. I also started the couch to 5k today to ease back into running. I just hope I can managed the disks so that I can keep at it. Not sure when I will get back on the bike. The bike was the main aggravator of the disks and caused the most pain. So for june, my goal will be 5lbs gone. Yesterday I was at 214lbs and want to be at 209lbs by EOM. Edited by trimore 2010-06-03 2:42 PM |
