Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official ThreadPlainsman AU - 2010-11-12 1:05 PM umskigirl - 2010-11-12 11:58 AM Got in! This is my first IM. How soon should I be booking a place to stay? What's the most relaxing place that is still really close to the transition area?
I would suggest the Sunbird Condos which are right next door on the West side of the Boardwalk. Our family has owned a unit there for years. There are 1 and 2 bedroom units there and it is quiet but close to transition. One of the advantages will be the fact that it is gated, so there is no problem with parking. Would love to have a good group to stay there. The units can be rented by the sunbird office and also Royal American, which is based inside the Boardwalk. A couple of things I learned last week... 1. If you are willing to spend a little extra for the space, having an extra bedroom to lay out all the bags (T1, T2, Bike Special Needs, Run Special Needs, morning/Post-Race Clothes ) without worrying about tripping over them or leaving something out, really works well. Keeps you organized, yet all your important needs are out of the way of family space, etc. Some of us are anal retentive about organization... 2. Take a look at the vrbo.com website. You can look at private houses and condos all over PCB, most of which are close to the race site. Lots of options, including the Sunbird which Plainsman mentions above. |
