At my desk working hard when I ran across this little bit of information from last weekend.  Congrats, bro!

thanks, bro.  i wasn;t aware of this until phatknot posted it in the ga forum.  i though i registered for a/g.  so after harv and his daughter picked up their awards, i split.

funny, first race i register clyde which i don't do much and i placed 4th (again) out of 8 or so.  but if i registered a/g i would have taked second.

but now i'm leading the state series in the category and i'm planning on racing a couple more setup events.  so perhaps i'll continue to race clyde.  though as most here know, i don't really care for the category.  but its all good.

funnier than all of this though... my swim is getting so much better and my logs are accurate... i've been in the pool maybe three times over the past 6 weeks.  HA!

Would you have taked a grammar class on the way home too????

Yup...he is now officially a hillbilly

The new mentor program is about to start.  They always archive the old group when this happens.  We will eventually go live and be open for business so that new people can join if they want to.  It will require you to submit your bio again so the newbies will know who you are.

Wor Teep! this made me LOL. George's hillbilly comment was pretty good, too! Congratulations, John! I feel like the kid who thinks they are playing hide and seek, only to find out everyone went to a different playground. Thank goodness for Dan. edited to fix autocorrect!

SSMinnow - 2012-04-02 4:43 AM I'm in so long as Canada agrees to keep a muzzle on the guy above !

Is the muzzle for John or Trevor?

Canada is taking no responsibility for John.  He's all yours.

"Oh Canada" is TREV.  He seems to be the only one with a fighting chance to control Fatty.

Gotcha.  Some of going ons in this group still go over my head, but I'm catching on.

He can go faster.  I can go longer...

As in, he runs fast, but doesn't run for more then about 2 minutes straight.  I'm optimistic that I can keep up over such short distances.  It'll be like interval training.

He said if I get fast enough to challenge him, he will actually have to start working harder.  What a slacker!!

Just got bacl from the public pool here in SF. Very odd experience. Especially since I was the fastest one there. There were 2 pools side by side with two lanes each. Hours are very weird too. But happy to have 3K swimming done on vacation!

Oh good grief, don't get me started!!!!! So on Sunday we both were gonna run, and his SundayRunningBuddy was out of town, so he asked me to run with him. Why not. So first off, I am a total creature of habit. I grew up swimming up and down the same swimming pools. I like routines. Dave does meandering runs -- they drive me nuts, but I can handle it (was silently pissed when he chose and up-hill road into the wind, but I dealt -- I have issues with wind). We were just running nice and easy, but somewhere in the last 1.3 miles or so he just turns it on and takes off. I kept up my nice, easy pace and let him go, silently cursing him the whole time wondering why the hell I run with him. I mean, if he had said, "Let's crank it up the whole way home," I'd be down with that. But he just left. I almost turned around to go run another couple of miles on my own, but I played nice and just followed him home. WTF??!!

Really, my issue with running with my husband is that I'm competitive and I work hard. To me, I should be faster than he is. He runs 1-2x a week, is always nursing some injury, yada yada yada. So I'm a bit of a sore loser when/if/that he runs faster. Sunday I COULD have gone a lot faster, but then I just held back based on principle. Ha!!

The best was in Hawaii once when I went out for a long run and he decided to "tag along" for "just a little bit." He didn't pack any water or anything. I KNEW he would need water and I'd have to sacrifice some of mine. Sure enough... Grrrrr.

So yeah, running together probably isn't good for our marriage. But it's my problem and they are my issues and I know that. He seems to enjoy it all just fine!! Ha!!! I'm working on being a good sport!! Honest, I am!!

Well that run today hurt.  Seriously.  We were doing week 2 of C25K, so the running segments were only 90 seconds long.  I thought I'd be able to stay with him for those 90 seconds.  I've been running almost 2 years, and he's been stuck at week 2-3 of C25K for 6 months because he only runs every couple weeks.

First run segment, he takes off at a 6:30/mile pace.  Now, for perspective, I do speed work at about an 8:00/mile pace.  For a longer distance, I can hold about 8:45/mile if I am really working at it.

I couldn't even keep up for 90 seconds.  I didn't catch up until he was almost 30 seconds into his walk segment.

It was a hilly route too.  So he goes powering up hills faster then my 5k pace on flat ground.

Okay, I can swallow my pride for the good of my marriage.

But, I must admit that I am a little bitter.  Like I said, I've been doing this for almost 2 years.  I am very consistent.  I have always know that his natural athletic ability is greater then mine, but I didn't think he could leave me in the dust so easily.

He complains that he can't run longer distances, but I think if he just slowed down to a 8:00/mile pace, he'd have no problem.

In his defense, he did slow down and run at my "push myself as hard as I can to try to keep up" pace for the last few run intervals.

Yep, it was hard.

Oh, after today, I can SO relate to this.

PS: I changed all my metric pacing to imperial so you guys could all understand it.
