I just reply on what I find interesting and skip the rest).

You will no longer be a newbie when you can reconcile these opposing statements.

They're not contradictory.  What I do on my threads vs. what I do in other people's threads.

Ever wonder if Deb starts all these wonderful threads to get us all wound up so she can giggle away the afternoon before getting to go home from work?

If that's the case than clearly the "Newbie" has become the "Master"!

It seems appropriate to ask now and I can't stand it any longer... what's with the melon and melon presses?  I missed that thread.

It started way long ago (Aug or Sep '08 I think) with a challenge group called the Horny Melons ... and a {MELON PRESS} is a hug! (think about it ... )

You might have been around BT on your first go-round then ... I can't recall.

How to not be a newbie,

1,  Throw out the plan.

2, Sign up for an Iron Man.

3, Train for the Iron Man.  During this time you are a newbie and not a triathlete.

4, Compete in the Iron Man.

    - If you finish on the podium, your an Iron Man and a Triathlete, sign up for Kona.

    - If you finish under the cutoff, your an Iron Man and a Triathlete.

    - If you don't finish under the cutoff, go home defeated, and either start over with step 2, or find a new sport.

Either way you will no longer be a newbie.

Just looking for some clarification.  Are you saying you must do an Ironman length event to be no longer considered a newbie?

If so, I quit. Cry

Was wondering the same thing.  Maybe it's a ST mole who pokes over here just to make fun of us?   Surely there has to be some intentionality here, right?  I have met many folks who seem completely unaware of their surroundings, however, so you never know.

djastroman - 2012-04-10 3:18 PM I hate coming into the conversation late.  Stupid overly long office meeting about nothing.  I could have been wasting my time here coming up with witty retorts!  That is to say, if I could actually come up with anything witty.  Which....I....can't.

Dang I'm really late.. School sucks, but I have a question going back to page 1.

Goosedog - 2012-04-10 2:21 PM

Newbie, or not, is irrelevant.  Start placing top 3 OA in your competitive local races and top 3 AG in large regional races, then you're fast.  If you're not fast, you're slow.

"If you ain't first, you're last."  If you're last then you are slow... So how can you be top three and be fast and last?

I figured out what melon presses were immediately and who bestows them. But after all my reading here, I still don't know exactly what constitutes a piglet.

A piglet, whilst most commonly of the delectable-gentleman variety, is really any yummy cute warm living thing. So it's not really a gender, age, or even species-specific term. Some prefer "piglette" for human females (and some human females do NOT prefer this at all). But I assure you a piglet is a WONDERFUL thing!!!

Bike popping is sexy (well, depending on who's doing it)! It takes guts to drop a deuce on a multi thousand dollar bike, in public, while, of course, competing in triathlons..

If you're popping, then you're pooping and if you're pooping then you're stopping, cuz you can't run when you're pooping unless you're biking when you're pooping. But if you're pooping while you're biking and you're liking that you're pooping, well... then you should think of stopping, cuz no one will be liking to be looking while you're running after pooping while you're biking.

BUT you're a newbie if your posting turns to doodie talk and double talk, or when to walk and when to talk (and the state of being newbie and getting-hugs-from-giant-boobies!). You could KQ, you could BQ, but if you CAN DO... then it's not just blogging doodoo,  maybe others read your how-tos and they figure out some voodoo and it helps them on THEIR juju.

Then you STILL might be a newbie, but your postings are not doodie cuz they're helping other newbies and that's really what what's the duty...when a set of lads and lasses get off their plumping a$$es and learn to race their fastest and that pushes YOU to try to tri to be the fastest of the masses BUT you got them off their a$$es with your helpful master classes...

And you do it cuz it's classy and you do it cuz it's fun, then the newbie state will pass, then your newbie-ness is done, and we can melon press together, all the piglets hug as one.
