I signed up the day before this years race.  I am unsure if I will do it tho.  I had the most dreadful race day this year.  Look at my Race report if you care to share my pain   Not my day.  I am thinking about it.  I need some healing time for now.

I ultimatly was able to register, but what a bizarre registraton process...  I started the registration right away, but the page refreshes were so slow I could not complete it in the allowed 15 minutes.

I was able to start again - at 1:15?!, but before I could advance to the payment screen, the system told me the race was full. My persistant clicking the submit button (at least a dozen times) resulted in the system finally advancing to the payment screen and the registration being accepted.  I swear it was 1:30 (EST) before it was finally accepted.

I'm sure I got in because others had the same problems I experienced, and I really feel bad for them. Well, this will be me first IM, I will train hard and not waste the spot I got!

I assume all those who volunteered received this email but wanted to post this portion of it for the others.

"Approximately 1400 entries were claimed Friday and Sunday morning and when we went on line in 45 seconds all slot were spoken for. On top of that, by day’s end, all community slots were sold out."

That's a bit crazy...they are basically saying that nearly 1500 spots were clicked for in 45 seconds?

This is from an email:

I cannot thank you enough for pulling off the best Ironman Florida event in history. Approximately 1400 entries were claimed Friday and Sunday morning and when we went on line in 45 seconds all slot were spoken for. On top of that, by day’s end, all community slots were sold out.

I'm in for IMFL 2013. This will be my first IM! My family and friends are booked at Shores of Panama.

My friend and I volunteered at Athlete Check-in on Thursday and had the luxury of bypassing the entire volunteer line on Sunday since we worked with the Team Lead that handles the entire check-in process (and Tent). Definitely a perk after seeing the volunteer line!!

In as well!

2nd IM.   Three of us that did IMTX together in 2011 tried but only two of us made it.  Hopefully the training here in Norway and racing in Europe for the summer will translate well.  At least there wont be any hills to worry about.

Plan is to race a Challenge half in the Canary Islands and a 70.3 here in Norway in the summer and get inspiration watching my wife race IM Austria in July!

Now I just have to get through the winter :-(

First Ironman for me.I am  from Texas. Have done 3 70.3's in the last 3 years, with olys and afew sprints. Currently in maintenance mode now. I plan first olympic in April and will do about 4- other then the Ironman. My question to y'all is , should I try to do a 70.3 this year?

My vote is yes on the 70.3.  You can learn a lot - use it as a high quality training day..see where your weaknesses are..see how to pace for long distance, practice nutrition in a longer race situation...just be sure it is properly placed in your schedule

I am in!  I volunteered at the finish and caught people from 6 to midnight with a 30-minute break before the dance party.  This will be my first IM and I am excited!!

My current plan is to begin Fink's Intermediate Base in January and loosely follow it for ten weeks, take a full week off and then begin again with the full 30 weeks.  For now, I ran a HM last weekend, and plan on a few holiday 5K's for fun.  Just bought my first tri bike and I'm in the market for a trainer.  Anyone know where I can get a good deal on a KK Fluid Road Machine?

REI has some Kurt Kinetic trainers on sale right now.  $70 off I believe.  Not sure if they are the exact model you are looking for, but worth a look, IMHO.

Excited to be a reader, and at times a contributor, of this forum.  Great insights to guide me on my first IM journey for 2013.  Thanks.

I'm in!  I was supposed to volunteer at a couple posts in 2012, but life happens and I was unable to make it down.  I was lucky enough to get in online though! Smile  We have a few people heading down from Michigan, so it should be a blast!

I took a 6 week break after doing my Sept. 70.3.  Started training with some spin classes and drills for swim form at the beginning of Nov.  Really excited to start the journey to my first IM.  Official training will start in late January.

Nice to meet everyone!

Chris

I plan to do Augusta in Sept. It is a similar course (read "flat") and the swim has been wet suit legal in the past. Many people who do IMFL use Augusta as a training day due to it being about 6 weeks before IMFL.

I'm in for IMFL #2 and IM #7. Cool to see a couple of BT'ers in the area. Most of my training will be done indoors for most of the year as my wife is in work-ups for a long long deployment to Afghanistan. Stay at home dad with 4 little one (8,7,5,1) should be interesting. Looking forward to training w all of you and listening to your stories.Good luck and stay healthy. Chris

Hi all! I'm in for 2013. Just completed IMFL this past year. Great race and great experience. I registered on Friday before the race. This will be my 2nd IM. I'm with a huge group of people from Orlando.

2013 will be my busiest year, I signed up for IMMT and IMFL, have not done 2 IM's in one year, so I'm a little nervous about that. Also doing Kinetic 1/2 and Raleigh 70.3, add in Shamrock and Rock-N-Roll VB half marathon and I have a full season ahead! Oh well, you never know until you try, so why not go for it. Jim
