NYpost said that police have a suspect in custody, he is a Saudi National injured in the explosion.

Not a reputable news source.
On Deadspin, posted that Boston PD said that's not accurate, that no one is in custody.

Fox News is reporting there's a suspect in custody.  Just because the source isn't PC doesn't make it wrong.

I know you're joking but it's still too early for this bud.  We're all just posting different news bits we're seeing from around the web.  There will be a time to hash out the who what, when, and why, but now's not the time.

I'd wait until it's confirmed by the police.. as in, you see one of them saying it.

Until then, I'd simply assume that Fox is parroting what the NYPost (a tabloid) reported.  Pretty much no "news" agency vets their reports anymore, they just blast what others are saying so they aren't the ones not saying it, then they just "correct" themselves later.

Times like this, the early stages get confusing because most of the time, the media gets it wrong.

Very true.

Thankfully, it's now come to light that the event at the JFK Library was a fire incident and had nothing to do with an explosive device going off.

This is all so very sad.  As I've said before, I'm having a really tough time wrapping my brain around today's events.

I barely come on to BT anymore, but when I saw what had happen, I had to see how the community was.  Are the fellow BTers ok?

My heart goes out to the victims.  I have so much anger toward who ever did this.  You prepare for a race, and for many of us, running brings us an inner peace that nothing else does, and to have an act like this perpetrated at the finish line is just so hard to comprehend.

I was texting a buddy congratulating him on finishing, and then I saw the news.  It took a while to get ahold of him again, which made me panic, but he and his wife are okay.  He was a block from the explosion he said.  We have trained a lot together and he got me into triathlons.  As I have thought about it, this type of thing really puts life into perspective.  I hope that the families who are impacted remain strong.  May we all take time today to be reflective of our lives, and what is important. Hope all the BTers present are okay.

Here at Boston. Left the finish shortly before the explosions. City was locked down...no restaurants or other establishments would let ppl in. Hanging out in the lobby of the hotel I'm at, having a bite and drinks. Even airport was not operating. Our phone services shut off (or overwhelmed).

Sad... Bomb squad all around the city and we can see the ambulances going into the ER.

Sick, sick ppl out there.

I don't find it funny but it does a good job of summing up my emotions.   I like the juxtaposition of Hell contrasted with the relative minor annoyance of pausing a watch contrasted with the horror of what actually happened.  I don't think it was meant to be funny.

For me, bombing Boston is like bombing Disneyland.  Not all terrorist acts conjure the same emotion in me.  I am not sure if it is because I am a runner and I know what Boston means to a runner.  I mean it is like a car bomb going off on a church parking lot on Christmas day.

I feel sick, so sick.  I don't even really know anyone there, just some people I see at races from time to time.  I feel ill.

I understand your emotion, I share many of the same emotions. I feel violated. And I'm not even a principal - I wasn't there.

I just pray the media gets this right...their freight train is running. Instead of asking 'who did this', they're asking 'what nationality was the person(s) that did this'?  BTW, not just limited to the media, the Dept of Homeland Security head asked the same pressing question. Sad, but seem to be a lot of people / institutions looking to hang this on someone's neck - not as an individual, but as a class.

While I agree that the speculation train has left the terminal, it is also true that this may not be the work of an individual, and certainly some groups have defined themselves ......Muslim extremists and White supremists come quickly to mind.  To call either group only by "extremist or supremist",  and leave out their "class", would be innacurate.

While it is absolutely imperative in any investigation to be open to the possibility of any eventuality, it is prudent to look at groups or classes who have been previously responsible for similar incidents.  It doesn't carry emotion.....at least it shouldn't.

Toll as of this morning...3 dead and over 140 injured...though not all seriously which if there is any bright side to this, at least it wasn't worse....

http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/story/2013/04/16/boston-marathon-bombings-tuesday.html

The Canadian Consulate in Boston has set up a special hotline so that you can check in on family/friends and there status.  Over 2000 Canadians were in the race this year.

The Boston Marathon though American..is a truly international event.  I hope they catch those who are responsible soon....it won't just be American anger...but an international anger...how do you make sense of this?  And Why?  Its just so pointless....

Sad, but seem to be a lot of people / institutions looking to hang this on someone's neck - not as an individual, but as a class

What do you mean by "look at groups or classes?" I would expect or hope that the people investigating the incident would go where the evidence takes them, as opposed to looking at a particular group of people and seeing if the evidence leads to the group or member of the group.

Little song by Rogers and Hammerstein.  For those that know me, this is sung by Liverpool faithful at the beginning of every match and hold DEEP meaning after things like Hillsborough.  Liverpool FC is owned by NESV, who also owns the Red Sox so I thought it was appropriate.

When you walk through a storm
Keep your chin up high
And don't be afraid of the dark.
... At the end of the storm
Is a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark.

Walk on through the wind,
Walk on through the rain,
Tho' your dreams be tossed and blown.
Walk on, walk on
With hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone,
You'll never walk alone.

I find it rather odd that after Sandy Hook all gun owners are considered the bad guy because we all know that if it weren't for guns no violence would ever happen, but after a terrorist bombing, the people who are known world wide for this kind of attack cannot even be mentioned without being considered racist.
