Here's my unofficial check in as of today (since it's a short week).  I've run 5.34 miles and done 1 strength session so far.

How is everyone else doing?

I worked this whole weekend (yeah, I'm throwing myself a pity party) so I didn't manage any workouts Saturday or Sunday. Since Nov 1st I've done one each of yoga and running, 42 minutes and 13 miles, respectively. That leaves me with 11 hours 18 minutes of yoga and 107 miles of running.

I'm thinking now I shouldn't have said how much I have left, as it seems really daunting when put that way this early in the month.

Hi Team3!

I've got a new teammate for you!

TriChica (Mindy) has asked to join the challenge, and I've put her on your team. She should be here soon.

Hi all! I'm Mindy and I'm so glad I finally got to join a Challenge in time! I just started my tri season late this summer after dealing with a knee injury. Finished 2 sprints and 2 1/2 marathons in September and October... waaaay too much fun! I got so excited about it all that I signed up for the Florida 70.3 in Orlando in May. Kinda scared about that, but super excited, too.

I'm a sales rep and travel frequently, so it makes juggling training interesting. I'll be away 17 days this month alone, so....

My goals:
Run 40 miles
Swim 5 miles (I hope I can find a pool while I'm away. If not, Saturday morning it is!)
2 Spin classes at the gym
5 hours weight training
Stretch/Yoga at least 10 min every day
Lose 5 pounds

I'll be in Louisiana/ Misssissippi this week, so have a great week y'all! GO TURKEYS!!!!!!!

Hey just checking in!  Here is my week last week...

B: 27.89 Mi  1h 40m
R: 19.62 Mi  3h 10m

This is the first time I have run almost 20 miles....My plan for this week is 25mi.  Running is the weakest for me so I am focusing the whole off season on improving.  Any suggestions besides run more would be appreciated.

Just got another yoga session in this morning, so I'm at 1:24 total. Moving some of my scheduled runs around this week, as the weather this weekend is supposed to be nice, and I'm taking advantage of that.

Bryan, as far as improving running, that's what I'm concentrating on right now, too. Besides run lots (which I know you already know) I've found that slowing down a bit so I can pay enough attention to my form has helped. I stick to my plan, and really listen to my body. I recently got a new PR for my 5k, and the only things I'm really doing different are running more frequently and training slower.

Thanks...that has been my plan too.  I am gettin itchy for speed!

I am trying the slow approach and it is good to hear that it is working.  I have been using a HRM and keeping my HR @ 155bpm.  I am not sure that is correct but it feels like I can run forever there and that is where I stay.  I can not wait until the spring when I et to race to see if it trually has worked.

Did my hard run today, which turned out to be a pretty bad idea considering I'm just starting to get over a sick weekend. Anyway I managed to shave 45 seconds off my 10k route which I am happy about, but I didn't feel very good the whole run and almost stopped a couple of times with side stitches. I need to get 3 minutes off my time total, so only 2:15 left to go. 7:23 min/miles with a lot of time spent under 7:00, those pesky hill climbs are the hard part though.

Nice job on the run today!  Don't go too hard...don't want you to get sick again!

Maybe you'd be faster on a flat course.  That's the easy way to make your goal.

I think I could probably do it right now on a track, but the only gauge for improvement I have is my normal route so I'm going to try to stick to it. The thought of hills does makes it harder to get excited about going hard though.
