Champion 5522 Frisco, TX | Subject: RE: swbkrun with us!!! - Closed Kerrdog79 - 2011-01-03 11:22 AM Had a good swim last night 900 yards in about 28 minutes. I know turtle slow but it was my longest non stop swim. Hoping to work it into the Sunday mile over the next month or so. Congrats! I used the 0 to 1650 plan to push me to the mile... I found it difficult, but not overly so. It also let me work on keeping my speed up as I went longer distances.

I need to do this as well. I'll have to do my own. Only problem is my HRM isn't working. Ordered it directly from Timex and my GPA watch won't read mine but the watch will pick up other peoples HR's from their HRMs. Gah! I need to get it figured out stat. I have a bike fit scheduled for Wednesday! Anything I should know/do for this? So excited as my current bike (from 1987!) is not a good fit at all. Make sure that you warm up enough while on the trainer. You want to get a sweat working - Other than that, make sure that you are communicating well with the fitter - if something hurts or puts pressure in a funny spot, it will not get better with milage. You will most likely feel uncomfortable (as in awkward) while riding for awhile, but there should not be pain or lots of pressure on any part of the body. |

FWIW, I have had very good experience with runningwarehouse dot com, if you know what shoes you are looking for. Fast and free shipping and good prices. Edit: Upon reflection, I am not sure whether you know what you want (Saucony's) and are looking for a place to buy, or are looking for some different shoes that you would want to try out/fit/whatever. I was answering the former, not the latter. To the degree you were asking the latter, there are those in the MG who have much more insight into that decision-making process than I. X2 on the plan Andy links to. It was the plan I used to go from couch potato to a mile swim for first time ever. |

Wear the normal clothes you ride in so you can get fit to the right chamois height. 2. Don't let the bike fitter talk you into a super aggressive position if it isn't comfortable 3. Make sure they check your cleat position, not just the bike 4. Make them give you a fit sheet when you are done. |

Or, if I have 2 planned, it can screw with one of those if something comes up...like today. I need to get in the habit of getting out of bed and getting IT done. I get up early a few mornings a week... usually when I need to be somewhere right after the kids are off to school. Here's the truth about early mornings: THEY SUCK for the first 5 minutes. But once you're up and dressed it's all good. If you're a coffee drinker, make it the night before and put it on the timer so you can wake up to the smell or sound of coffee brewing. Also, if you work out first thing, you just get up and DO IT. When I wait until the kids have gone to school, I can waste all sorts of time and it really hampers my day. I much prefer to be done early. Just try to rise above yourself... Don't give in to the temptation to stay in bed!!! It's harder in the dark winters (our sunrise this morning was 7:57, so it's very dark until later!) but you just have to decide you'll do it and then do it!! Oh, and getting up early makes the days you don't have to get up early extra special!!! |

For IM training, I was up early every day, including the weekends to get it at all done and still have a sorta life. I admit since then I've slept to 5:30am often. All that changes tomorrow, starting a BASEC class that starts at 6am and is a 30 minute drive. You need to get disciplined on both ends...you know what they say "early to bed, early to rise...makes your IM less of a horrific surprise! PS I used to do the TERPS thing when I worked 80 hour weeks....so glad I'm not doing that now. I commend you. Edited by SSMinnow 2011-01-03 6:29 PM |

Expert 945 Auburn AL | Subject: RE: swbkrun with us!!! - Closed OK... I am motivated. During the summers it is easy to get up and get on the bike for a group ride, but I have just gotten lazy thinking that I can get it in around 8 oclock or so if I am at home. I would like to go ahead and get my run in so that I can hit the trainer or swim in the evenings. Could actually get up at 5:30 and be out and back by time to take Jones to school or whatever. Got to make this a good habit to get into. So (Andy) out the door in the morning for a 4 mile run. You guys can check up on me tomorrow. |
