Shoe Porn!!  Got these today!
Welcome to club Hoka! I love mine, even though I do think I look like I'm running in clown shoes

I've read good things about them, but keep thinking of these.

HAHAHA! Memory lane.

Nice score, Jo!

Hokas or Moons, either would be a step up (literally?!), the way I dress.

Too bad they're not available and cheap here, otherwise I would try them. I seem to fit into the GENERAL (lots of outliers of course) demographic that does really well with them--heavy (for my height), likes to run, could use a little bit of center-of-gravity foot landing help, and arthritic (not gonna say older).

I began using them because of the capsulitis issue in my foot. Wearing them it is not as affected compared with normal running shoes. As an added bonus I found that my legs don't get nearly as tired on long runs and running the next day I'm fresher than I would be.

Heh heh, I am supposed to be meeting a BTer to run next week. He wrote me a PM just to give me a heads up he has Hokas and that I can't make fun of him for them.

When I first saw them on someone I thought it was a joke. Do you guys remember those moon shoes in the 90's?

All poking fun aside, good that they seem to allow people to run without injury. Plus, they are better than five fingers...

I definitely feel like I stand out in them, but not having pain is worth the stares. Of course, more and more people know what they are, so lately I've gotten more questions about how I like them vs. what the hell are they questions.

Do they feel ... clunky when you run in them?

No, but they are not racing flats! The first time I ran in them I spent the first .5 mile wondering what I had done, felt like I was running on stilts. Then, I was used to it and they feel quite natural. You definitely don't feel the road to the extent you do in other shoes, but you do get "feedback". I just find them very comfortable. If I didn't have my little issue, I would save them for long runs and use my Brooks for shorter stuff, but since I do, I use them for all distances. If I don't I end up with discomfort in my foot. Once I finally heal, I will go to the Brooks for shorter stuff plan.

Salty, the Starbucks Lime Refreshers are super addictive.  I think there is crack in them.  Also, the VIA packs of it aren't as good.  Adding some extra lime slices helps, but there's something different in the store version.

Oooooh I was on the product testing team for those, so you can directly thank me. Yes, crack, that was my suggestion. Smile

I also agree about the VIA. But I feel that way about all of the VIA products. Then again, it's kind of what I would expect for an "instant" product. They are good for camping, or in a pinch. But not for the daily. IMOP

I need to get on trainer, but wanted to throw this out before I forgot to ask.

Has anyone had odd reactions to chlorine? I had my swim last night, and shortly after I got home my nose was running uncontrollably and I was sneezing like crazy. It was so bad I couldn't lean over my daughter's crib to put her to sleep without grabbing one of her shirts to plug my nose. When I went to bed I stuck tissue up my nose...and was still sneezing. I think I netted 2-3 hours sleep.

I know I have allergies, but they've been better the last week, and this reaction only started after swimming. It hasn't continued throughout today even though I've been outside for several hours. I also noticed the pool guy was just leaving as we checked in at the gym. Lots of times my nose is runny after a swim, but this was ridiculous...and the sneezing became painful.

I am back from my bike ride, glad I could get out there tonight.

I told my husband I was going to ride tonight and swim tomorrow morning and he laughed since I haven't managed to get out of bed with the 5 AM alarm all week.

Who is going to call my cell phone at 5 AM eastern time to tell me to get my a$$ out of bed to the pool before work tomorrow?

I don't have much to do for a couple of weeks so I signed up for a Red Cross lifeguarding course.   This afternoon was the pre-test and consisted of a 300 yard swim, a two minute treading water with legs only and a 20 yard swim and dive for a 10 lb weight  and return 20 yards with it.

Let's just say the teenagers were in awe of me.

For those of us who aren't sure if anything comes next, it behooves us to cram as much living in this one life time as possible.     This includes experiencing as much of all there is to experience.

Epicurean until what comes next.

Ok if you are that bored do you want to write my paper for me? The topic is "accounting profit is the best measure of success." You need to comment on this and explore other measures.

by the way I need a HD mark because the lecturer is my old boss and he will mark me hard

if that one doesn't spin your wheels I have at least 5 more that you can choose from that are due before the start of July.

Accounting is the redheaded step child of mathematics.  I won't touch that subject with a ten foot pole.   Please elaborate on the other five choices.

They are so so good.  Sadly, the Starbucks on my campus are only "proudly serving" not real stores, so the VIA packs are the best I can do at work.  It is definitely better than nothing.  And much better with a couple of lime slices tossed in.
