Champion 7163 Verona WI--Ironman Bike Country! | Subject: RE: SWBKRUN Mentor Group-Closed! KEEP ASKING QUESTIONS!!! DougRob - 2009-10-15 11:41 AM I am in the minority. I do not mind the TM at all. I listen to music on my ipod and work on my form, what little there is. My plan is to run 5-6 time a week in the off-season as nothing helps me get my weight down as much as running and I have lost a LOT of run fitness on my olympic plan. I also plan on doing a lot of CT riding in the evenings after I put the kids to bed. Right now it is in my office. I will move it to the Rec room over the garage so that I minimize bothering anyone. I also want to build an adjustible stand for my lap top so I can see the rider and the TV at the same time. While it isn't my first choice, I am with Doug. I put up a mirror, strap on my music (sorry coach) and go for it. Did nearly every long run all the way up to 26m on it for Boston for two straight years in the crappy WI winter. Good mental conditioning. I am having a little harder time doing mind numbing CT long rides....if I have a very specific workouts, threshold or Tempo it is much preferred. But over time, I am sure it won't be nearly as bad as it is right now. Tracy---really great photo. A must buy for sure. |

OMG - I can't tell you how many times I'd have to shoot myself in the head to run 26m on a treadmill! Probably just once, right? You would be suprised how you would embrace it when it was your only option and you had a big race coming up. The last two winters have been incredibly icy and snowy and risking running in that crap is not on my top 10. You start playing pacing games and the 3:45-4:00 just fly by....well, not really. Who remembers the video Tracy posted a while back about the squirrel climbing the wall? I'm looking for it.....I liked the music and was trying to remember if it was Soul Sister or not. |

I sounds like a lot of fun, but the funds just aren't there for a destination race right now. I'll be sure to fire up the grill and crack a couple brews to celebrate in spirit. |

Champion 9060 Charlottesville, Virginia | Subject: RE: SWBKRUN Mentor Group-Closed! KEEP ASKING QUESTIONS!!! Thanks you guys for the advice on the run today and especially Suzy for the foot taping. Taped the foot up ran 8 miles no problem on the treadmill. Well not no problems, I almost fell off the tread mill a few times when the grade changed, but no ankle problems. Makes me feel a whole lot better that I was able to get that run in. |
