mrbbrad - 2010-01-04 11:38 AM Anyone else annoyed by the push back on signing up to volunteer? It's now set for the 25th, excpet they have a special login section "if you have already signed up and need to fill out a subform for your job area". If volunteer registration is not open, how can there be people who already signed up? And, if there are already people who signed up why can others not sign up yet?

Anyway, to those racing, keep up the training!!!

I would not worry about it too much.  I volunteer as a Lifeguard in 08’ and was not contacted until two week out from the race.  Didn’t get very much info then as well.  I think they wait until who show up to really get into the details of the assignments.

Thank for volunteering!

I will be the guy ahead of gopennstate on the swim.  That’s Jenn with 2 N’s.

we're going sub 1 hour then jamesy.    i have goals.  and said goals require mucho cushion for my bike & run suckage.  I am staying in the combat zone and going for full draft effect.  Oh man i'm so excited about that whirlpool!!!

And I'm gonna grab onto Mike's hairy oink oinks.  Cool.  It's a plan   We'll make a human chain and blast right through that whirlpool!! We'll be the BT Peloton!!

i think i was 31 & 33.  i need to work on not taking my sweet time getting back in for loop 2.  i slow jogged, then sort of walked in once i got to the water, defogged my goggles, etc.  Total time waster.  Last year, i didn't care.  This year, I care.  I'm actually going to practice it that way when i swim it in training up there.  Get my shyte moving both out of and back into the water.  i wish you could run down the dock and dive off...that would be crazy!

I think i'm going to head up memorial day.

Just remember to hang a tow rope off your wetsuits for the stragglers.  I promise I'll drag equal time from all and not show any favoritism.  Fair is fair.

So the way I see it all those cookies and appletini`s have  gone to your toes(piggies) hahaha shame on you Jenn(with two N`s), they should be little shark fins not piggies. So I see you can still register for IMLP on active.com , so is someone getting uncle Bryan from AZ to join you.

Whatever. You boys just don't get it. Everybody knows pink nails make you look faster. French mani makes you harder to spot in the water, though, so maybe Jenn is just trying to avoid anyone grabbing onto her fabulously tended piggies.

Tasr I see that you have completed IMLP before and finished with a great time. What was your time on the bike? I am wondering how much time I should be spending on the bike during base to make sure my legs are strong for the climb back into LP? I participated in a training camp in LP this summer and that long climb was rough. It got to the point that I was talking out loud to myself (pretty funny). The funniest part about it was that someone was starting to ride up alongside of me which I didn't realize and caught me mid sentence. His encouraging words helped, but it was embarrassing.

Oh, I have also been in the gym working out my legs a couple of times a week to help develop more strength too.
Thanks

^^^ James (Tasr) is on the Computrainer right now.  Aside from an occasional bathroom break, he'll likely be on the CT to the wee hours of the morning when he passes out and his wife then changes the Saline IV Bags.  So he'll probably answer you tomorrow after he 'comes to'.  That boy old man is going to Kona.  I'd bet money on it.

I went 5:36 on the bike at LP.  IMO doing hills training is really going to help you.  Long low-medium 6-8% grade of 3-4 mile is a good workout for LP.  Throw is a couple of short 1/4-1/2 mile 10-13% grades would be a bonus.

And during these grueling winter months when I spend most of my T.I.T.S. on the drainer...any recommendations for good workouts?

I'm serious about working on my cycling skillz, since that's my weakest sport (next to swimming...ha).
