Okay, I'll caveat all of the following with....AS LONG AS I AM BACK FROM IRAQ IN TIME....

I am totally in for a training weekend...Labor Day weekend sounds perfect to me since I will likely be out of town a LOT in the two months after that but should be back from Iraq before then.  Of course, since I'm local I can do any weekend as long as I'm in town...and as long as my coach OK's all the workouts.

And if anyone needs to save some $$$ and doesn't mind driving an hour to get to the workouts, I have a guest room that would be open.  I also have a pull-out sofa.  And a hot tub.  Just sayin'.   I would also be willing to host a party or whatnot at the end if y'all were interested in something like that.

Anyway, as long as I'm home my house is open.  I'm a short hour drive from PCB so I would likely be commuting back and forth anyway.  I also have two vehicles...my honda has a roof rack and my truck can fit several bikes.

phatknot - 2010-05-27 12:22 AM  i like the training camp idea. i also want to update. i tried two other tech shirt printers and struck out. i am now trying to get running caps in fluorescent pink/yellow. anybody have ideas on that?

The best visors out there are really headsweats...no idea how much to do a custom order...but I LOVE these hats!  Here's the page...I didn't have time to put all the info in for a custom order...but I clicked through a few and to get an embroidered design there was a min of 36...which I think we would easily have....and 3-4 week turnaround.  The domestic embroidery (which is the only one you can do with a min of 36...the rest would be a min of 100) seems to be the most expensive by their chart, but I think their hats are worth it!

Headsweats Custom Order Page

Anyone want to be the POC and submit for a quote?

Edited to add....I put in a quote for some hats with the AF logo on them.  I imagine it would be about the same price as what we'd want so I'll let y'all know what they come up with!  Of course, I went for the race hat (for AF purposes) and I bet the visor would be cheaper....

I love Headsweat hats...let's do it.

Who wants to be in charge? I can arrange/coordinate  stuff but suck at design.

Anyone good at design ideas?

I need my knee scoped and my guy says ~3 weeks to get scheduled for scope then 4-6 weeks for recovery which makes it really 7-9 weeks additional time off and start training in August, not sure if that will work for an IM.

Waiting to talk to surgery scheduler who was in meeting when I was there and is off Friday. Also my good friend Sue 'socks' here on BT is ortho and will chat with her.

I am looking at options as if I'm getting it done now with hopes of doing IMFL sooner is key.

I emailed the Heatsweat folks to get a quote. I'll let you know what they say.

I wonder if they can do hot pink?

I think if we go with other shirts the guy who has done them the last two years has a good contact and quality is top notch but we'd have to go with maybe bright yellow as the shirt color as wicking shirt choices are limited.

What kind of logo do we want on the hat? I already heard back from them within 5 minutes..impressive!

Or what do we want the hat to say?

Idea folks for those of you that are creative...let's hear it or see it if you are so inclined.

Sorry about your knee KathyG!  I hope it heals quickly and you get back on plan!!

Training camps are always a good idea, I wish I could participate but not sure at this point what time I would have available in Sept!

I'd love to do a training camp, but it's kind of far and expensive for me.

regarding the t-shirts, I just ordered cycling jerseys from Champion Systems.  The can put ANYTHING on clothing.  In any color.  The t-shirts seem a little expensive at $40, but the clothing is very high quality, and like I said they can do anything desigh and color wise.

Technical T shirt: http://champ-sys.com/custom/custom-casual/custom-technical-performance-short-sleeve-top.html

1st jersey proof
This is the 1st jersey design proof from Champ-sys.   I sent them the picture and they just put it on the jersey.  Like I said they can do anything.  Bright pink as well I suppose.

Actually I have a picture that we might want to use.  I'll see if I can find it, if folks can get over $40 for a jersey quality T-shirt.

IMFL tent

It's not as dramatic as I remembered.  But we can use any picture or solid color with any graphics we come up with.

So what do you guys think is hot pink, or a custom picture woth $40 on a tech T-shirt?

Hmmm....Keep it simple...BT emblem and www.beginnertriathlete.com or something like that?

Sorry about your knee.  What happened?  Maybe IMFL isn't in the cards this year?  A scope can take longer to recover from than you think sometimes...depends on how much they do.  I took my recovery super slow...I ran IMAZ 10 months after my knee surgery.

been gone for a while,  too much travel.  Home now for a few weeks on account of my own surgery yesterday.  nine more days until training can resume.

I found a t-shirt supplier,  cost is about $45cad.  two small issues though, they can't source hot pink in a mens shirt and would want to see some from of permission to use the mdot and BT logos.

The training camp sounds great but a little too far and costly for me to attend

Headsweats got back to me..looks like if we do 50 hats price would be around $20 per hat...lots depends on what we choose for logo and more could be a little less expensive but variables are hard to predict.

Not sure if we could use the M Dot logo since they work a lot with Ironman.

I see something with BT logo and IMFL 2010 on it. Color ideas?

If we did the shirts like the last couple years we could coordinate with them and I think the color we thought we'd use if we couldn't get hot pink was bright yellow. If we can coordinate orders and have one person send out shirts/hats it would be more efficient. Hats take awhile so we'd need to get this organized and ordered ideally by end of August.

What kind of surgery did you have if you care to share? Hope your recovery goes well and you will be back training quickly..9 days seems fast!

Issue with getting shirts from Canada is duty and time to ship them to the US. I think cost and ease would be better to order in the US, ship via post office all the shirts, and figure out how to handle the folks from overseas and Canada's shirts/hats.

I'm jumping in late but I would much rather have a hat, especially a headsweats hat. I'll still buy the tshirt though it that ends up happening instead. I love my 2008 IMFL shirt.

Can we put something about the friggin oil spill on the hat/shirt?

jumping in late too.  I have a very small head (can easily wear a kids bike helmet.  My visor is too big for my head on it's smallest size.  is there anyone with a head sweats visor that has a small head?  does it fit them?

i just got back from a week in Monterey and am not getting sick.  Ugh.  There goes two weeks of training.  Not sure I'll be ready for my HIM in 4 weeks.

kathy - oh dear, when it rains it pours eh?  Hopefully you will be back on track with your training quickly.  When I had my knee surgery (scoped and ACL reconstruction) I was allowed to swim wen my scar was healed without kicking and biking (easy) within a week (helped with range of motion and getting the swelling down.  I would get an agressive PT that will get you training again quickly.
