Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Good morning everyone. Chris, it sounds like your batteries are recharged and your mind and body are ready to go. Tracy, the power tap sounds like a great training tool, will you both get one??? I had a good running weekend...I actually pr'ed my half marathon time on my sunday long run! I have my alert to drink water every 15 minutes and at 1:45, I looked down and I was at 13.11 miles! The sad part is that I lost my belly button piercing, I think because of my annoying fuel belt. I have that thing so tight, and still it starts to twist and I have to constantly re-position it! It was my favorite piercing, so that is a bummer. I guess I will wait until after the marathon to put a new one in. This coming weekend is my first 20 miler. Yikes! Have a good week, all! ![]() |

While you are out ripping it up on the road, I experienced my first Z1 run this morning all in the name of rehab. It wasn't the end of the world, but it took me a heck of a lot longer than normal. Ah well, here is to faster speeds in '10. Chris--totally hear you on eating well. When I eat well, my training is so much better. |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() tahrens - 2009-10-27 6:46 AM Hi Chris, glad to hear you are ready to get back in the saddle. I made the mistake of showing Jorge's winter plan to my husband and now he wants a power tap so he can follow it. But to be honest he wants a power tap and has found a million reasons why he needs one. He and my daughter are building a bike together - this is going to be interesting. He found the frame with a few parts included on e-Bay and now the interesting part comes in. Last night he found a pair of $400 HED Jet 50 race wheels and was trying to convience me that we needed to buy these for my TT bike, then move the wheels from my TT to my road bike and give my daughter my wheels from my road bike. I love the logic of men! Your husband like most of us are men of LOGIC! That makes perfectly good sense! |

I always thought the TINY gold ball in the nose (think India styles) was cool, but how do you pick you nose with that in? |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Congratulations Tony and Doug!!! Great job over the weekend! Kim- Congrats on the HM PR! That is awesome, especially on a training run! Sorry about the piercing. I wear a small hoop in mine for training, because I actually got some pretty bad chafing from a fancy non-rounded one during my first marathon. There was blood all over my race number when I finished, pretty gross. Tats and piercings- no tats, belly ring and 3 piercings in each ear although I rarely wear earrings. In the past I've had nose, tongue, and nipple pierced ![]() |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I think I must be the straightest laced girl in the group (except for maybe the thong). I have single piercings in my ear and nothing else. The thought to do more never even crossed my mind....of course I am married to the most conservative guy on the planet. Had my physical today and I have the distinction of having the highest HDL in their database.....117, up 12 points from my check up 4 years ago. That's the good stuff....I'm going live forever. ![]() Edited by SSMinnow 2009-10-27 3:46 PM |

I have never found anything I would want on a bumper sticker let alone permanently on my body, and I figure God gave me al the orafices I need. I wear no jewelry, not even a watch. Congrats on the HDL !!!! Mine was only 70, but over 39 is good. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Serious question....who does races just for fun with NO expectations other than to get out there and kick up your heels? I have been lamenting about two upcoming races. I wasn't expecting a PR in the half marathon, but was planning one for the 10K which is almost an annual event for me. I had given myself from the HIM to mid November to gain more speed, but given my recent ITB issues, I haven't been able to do any speedwork and been running very little. The half may very well be in jeopordy anyway if the leg doesn't heal up in two weeks, but someone tell me how you go out and just have fun in a race you have PR'ed every year you've done it. ![]() |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() dalessit - 2009-10-27 1:02 PM I had one ear pierced when I was in college. It lasted about 2 weeks. Small world Tony....Wife got back from work today and one of her fellow teachers had run a marathon this weekend. Her 1st one and it was the same one you ran. She finished in 4:28 so a little behind you. She told my wife the 1st 5k was unreal how slow it was. Took her 17 minutes to hit the starting mat after the gun! |

Run the 2:10 pace or something! Think of how much joy you would bring to so many people! You will help a bunch achieve their goals!!! |

Actually, I prefer doing races just for fun... it takes the pressure off. It is harder to do in a race that you have PR'd in every year though. It's easier for me to not have expectations in a race I've never run before than in one I have. I think it's pretty hard to not want to do better than last time in a race that you've run before. Unless you could somehow make this time clearly different than the other times you've run it... wear a costume maybe... run with a friend... |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Speaking of crowded marathons, if anyone would like to get away from the crowds just come and run the Columbia River Power Marathon next year. There was 62 of us doing the full Mary. It did get a little lonely at times, but no worries about maneuvering around other runners. LOL |
