What a great day!  Our team co sponsored a kids tri today.  These kids were awesome.  Two age groups, first was 6 - 9 then 10 - 13 I think.  We started as human buoys in the water.  About 20 of us formed a line in the water and the kids swam by us.  We then ran up and helped in transition.  Oh my gosh, what a bunch of cuties!  So polite!  My favorite was Team Cupcakes.  Little girl and her younger sister.  Probably 6 and 9.  They swam together, went out on the bike together the ran side by side.  If I ever get another chance to work a kids tri again, I'll jump on it.

I had as much fun today as I will at our sprint tomorrow.

Oh yea, just saw my training plan and I have a 6 hour ride the weekend after Augusta. Can't wait

enjoy,

Duane

Hey guys, what do you recommend. Full wet suit or sleeveless. For Florida?

Full.  A full suit is always faster assuming it fits properly.  The only time I'd wear a sleeveless is if the water temp is warm (around the water temp wetsuit limit) and the air is also warm.  I'll sacrifice some speed for comfort at that point.

Weekend was GOOD.

FINALLY got a long ride where I didn't have to spend a lot of it on the trainer.

Augusta this weekend. Really just a long brick workout though.

How about you K? I'm sure you've said, but are you back in the hunt?

Good week for me too. Ran my fastest 10k ever early in the week. Mid-week I swam my longest distance ever, 4250 yards, and was going for my longest bike ever (120 miles) on Saturday. Had some discomfort in my knee so I stopped at 96 miles, but still a good long ride.

How is everyone else doing with their training?

Bone Scan for me on Thursday.  I tried running Friday and I could feel something every step. I guess my fate for IMFL will come down to the bone scan.  I am feeling pretty good now (post 1 week HIM).  I am hoping it was a muscle strain and I can jump back into things fairly quickly.  I haven't ran since Friday but feel like I should try it one more time.

I am going to rent a couple this weekend to try out before I buy. I tend to get cold too, but the last time I tried a buddies full I about lost it, I was so claustrophobic. Too tight I'm guessing. I got through the race but it was tough. I have had farmer John type suits with jackets for scuba but this completely different.
Thanks again

I've had pretty good last 3 weeks of training. Working on walking fast and walking frequently during the week. I'm still not sure walking 26.2 in the amount of time I should have off the bike will be enough.

My right shoulder has been hurting doing certain movements last couple weeks which is a new thing. I'm getting symvisc injection in my knee to see if that will reduce the pain.

I'm doing ChesepeakMan IM AB this weekend. I did it last year and had fun...and negative split the bike by 10'. This year my plan will be different seeing if I can do harder effort on bike and be able to walk okay since over biking is not really a concern since I won't be running at FL.

I've been having some doubts recently of the wisdom of racing.

I am using the BT Beginner plan based on HR and last week was a building week, this (18-24) week peaks and then I get a break again. For about 6 weeks now I've been dealing with a tender piriformis on the right side and backed off of the long runs and have done some stretching and strengthening and it is finally getting much better. Did my 1st 16miler last Thursday.

Weekend workouts have been pretty solid..during the week is a different story. Work and life stress leaves little motivation left but I feel better with 3-16 mile runs, a 95 and 102 mile bike and 2 mile ocean swim under the belt.

I started seeing my chiropractor weekly for maintenance and she mentioned that at this phase because the body is under such stress that you nagging injuries might creep up...for me it is ITBS which sure enough flared up on Saturday's run.  So just a reminder to be nice to your body; get your sleep, good food and hydration and try to minimize the outside stress.  (easier said then done I know!)

We normally set up swims on the days prior to race at 7am or 8am  at race site.

We have a couple of meals that we have place and time, that you can show up if you want.  Day after race we often go to great Pizza place lunch time.

Monday we plan on renting pontoons, look for dolphins and go out to beautiful beach/key that has no development. People brought drinks and snacks last year.

Last two years I organized the meet ups.

2nd in AG in 40-44 is impressive!

You'd have to take a long nap somewhere as you are faster on s/b than I.

Company would be good for run.

Coming together for me at the moment - with a big couple of sessions last weekend.  Previous week I nailed The Nation's Tri (turned into a Du because the Potomac was in flood) and came 9/412 in the M40-44 AG.  All the Ironman training seems to have helped my speed.

I'm also doing the Chesapeake Aquavelo - so might see you there Kathy.

Now all I need to master is copying and pasting from my training log into the forum page.  Sorry if this looks a mess.
