Yay! Thanks!

So, I tried to keep up on the posts but 16 pages of posts makes it hard to follow.

What exactly is the numbered/named column doing and are there any requirements of being a part of this group other than being active and logging workouts?

And as for the hot tub question:

Sometimes being in there too long is overwhelming for me too. The extra heat dehydrates you which sucks out more energy form you. I usually do 5 minutes in, 5 minutes out, 5 minutes in with a bottle of water and super hydrate before and after.

I only do a hot tub if I plan on going to shower, home and bed after my workout.

Each day you complete a SBR workout of 30 mins you record a point and tally minutes immediately thereafter. Max is one point per day - winner is most points, tie breaker is time. Just a fun way to log time and accountability.

Hot tubs: I only get in it after I swim, but it feels good. Then again, I get cold easily in the water, so I appreciate the opportunity to warm up. I usually only stay in 10 minutes, but that's usually because I need to get home. It also depends on how hot the water is. When we visit hot springs, I can't stay long in the really hot pools (ones at 104, 105 degrees), but can be comfortable in the cooler (high 90s, 100-101) ones for quite a while. That assumes the weather is good. Our favorite hot springs place is up in the mountains so usually the air temperature is pretty cool. If it's hot outside it's not a fun experience.

Knocked out an hour on the treadmill tonight.

Saturday's DU is in the books. 2nd AG - first podium in a multi-sport race. Weather held up great except for the extreme humidity. Very consistent performance came off the run in 11th place OA and only gave up one spot to a 58 yr old AG Nat champion, who was just a machine on the bike. Wanted to hold sub 7:00 pace on the runs (made the first, but not the second), but the bike course was extremely hilly -1000 vertical feet of climbing in 14 miles. Bombed one downhill and hit 45 mph on a closed road - exhilarating and sketchy at the same time. Held exactly 20 mph so a decent ride considering I was undertrained for the bike.

Happy with the performance and would encourage all of you to race a DU. In some ways, I find them harder than a tri in that you mentally have to prepare for the pain of a second run throughout the race. The first transition to the bike is easy - but finding your legs aft t2 is a challenge.

Happy Mothers Day to all!

LOL great thanks for explaining that! And I served in the USMC from 1993-1997...now serve as a police officer in Northern CA. Always fun trying to get those morning training sessions in when your shift starts at 0530 AM!

Went for my first longer bike ride in a long time on Thursday...42 miles. Felt that the next day for sure! Swam 30 minutes Friday and ran 45 yesterday...today is rest day before next week starts!

Btw...speaking of biking and running...anyone else on Strava? Look me up...I can use all the advice I can get. Plus it would be encouraging seeing some of the workouts you guys do since a lot of you have done triathlon distances much bigger than the one I'm targeting this summer (Olympic length). I'd like to compete in a half Ironman next summer so any advice or tweets to my training would be GREATLY appreciated everyone!!

Just look up Dan Pasquale on Strava (and no that hair is not mine in the pic lol...it's part of the hat!) Thanks everyone!!

First road ride of the year. I broke from the shackles of my trainer! The downside, MDOT is going to force me to find a new route this summer. Construction force me on the same side of the road for the out and back. I have always followed the rule of driving with traffic and I'm glad I do. People do not look right when they turn right. I nearly went face to face with a minivan who decided to turn right, not look right and use the shoulder because they there was oncoming traffic. Then an SUV nearly did the same thing, he saw me stopped waiting for him halfway through his turn and waived me past.

41:35 on the bike.

Joe--nice job on the DU! I did one last year and loved it, especially the second running part! Unfortunately, the duathlon series near me decided to do all their races early this year. I think there was one weekend, which is just too close to the marathon.

Couple of hours of running yesterday; last long run before the marathon. Also? It's snowing here. It's been snowing since about 9 am and is supposed to keep going until sometime tomorrow. Grrr. It's supposed to warm up later this week, thankfully.

2 hours on the drainer Saturday morning - began at 4:30am. My middle daughter was doing a color run 5K and no way to get my workout in otherwise. I did Sufferfest Local hero followed by a sweet spot interval to get me to 2 hours. Those extra sprints on Local hero at the end kicked my a$$!

Took yesterday off for Mother's Day to ensure my wife got an uninterrupted sleep in.

Dan - I'll look you up on Strava. Anyone here who uses Strava feel free to link to me. On Strava I am Tri Suppo. They make you have a first and last name for user name purposes.
