The 910x directions say to put the HRM on and then turn on your unit. It will pair when within 3m of the HRM. Done--didn't work. I tried tightening the strap, using electrode gel, changing to a cotton shirt, and wetting the strap down completely. Nothing worked. It also says that you may need to use it for 5-10 minutes before it will display--did that too and nothing. Any suggestions as to what I should try next? I'm more than a bit peeved that I had to buy a new one in the first place. The old one was a warranty replacement from my first. Both lasted less than a year. Personally, I think they should last longer than that. It should work out of the box!
I would definitely give them a call - it should last a while. I've been using mine for just over a year at least 3-4 days/week, have never washed the strap and it still works well. Something isn't working for you. It's worth a phone call - maybe they'll at least trouble shoot with you over the phone. Oh, and something totally gross - I've never used electrode gel, I just lick the strap along the front where the sensors are and it's worked every time...TMI? hahaha. Gross, I know.

I know this sounds ridiculous for a new strap, but try changing the battery.  It not only would fix a battery issue but sort of reboots the HRM, too.

I've never used the gel either--first time. With my last two I just licked the strap too!!

Gretchen- did you hold your watch right up to the sensor when pairing? I was having trouble pairing and read somewhere to place it within 1cm and it paired.

After the initial pair I did not have to have it that close.

Good Luck!

Nicole:
1) Make meals 4/5 nights this week
2) Do something active everyday (I am doing a 1 month trial at a boutique gym in Baltimore and plan to go 4-5 times a week until this month is up. Also do yoga every Tuesday, will swim Thursday and Saturday and hope to get 1-2 more runs in this week...I ran yesterday for the first time in ages!)
3) Lose 2 lbs

It's good to be back, thanks everyone!

DQ, so sorry to hear about all your family and personal issues! Definitely let us know how your brother and father's surgeries go! When it rains, it pours. I will keep you in my thoughts!
Also, I love fruit beers! Bring it, Kevin

Scott mentioned a race as a group. I would definitely be interested! Preferably in winter and we can go somewhere warm

Jenn, are you in PT for an injury or just maintenance?

Juan, thanks for the compliment for Raven! I also think she is gorgeous, but I am biased, hehe.

I worked out really hard yesterday for the first time since November. My body was completely shocked. I went to this boutique gym where it's basically a group fitness class, and one interval in I felt like I was going to pass out. I made it through, but was fighting the urge to throw up towards the end. It felt good though. The hard exercise that is, not the almost throwing up. I also went for a 3 mile run last night with a friend. Excited for some yoga tonight to stretch out my extremely stiff legs!

Hey, Nicole.  What part of B-more do you live?  I'm up in Middle River; just moved out of Canton about 2 months ago.

I did an interval class (Les Mills' Body Combat) and I thought I was going to die.

Today was 75' Z2 on the trainer - felt really good even in the harder, 80% FTP interval.  Followed that up with "The 300" which is a core workout I call "The $%^#$! 300".  I also watched the UCI Time Trial Championships from last October; OMG those guys are beasts.

#69 - 2.5 mile run. last moderately (according to the weather guessers) nice day for a little so did some more outside....can still feel the chest cold is there a little bit...but getting better.

First race of 2016 is in the books: Seaside half marathon! My watch time was ~2:03, pretty happy with the result as my usual HM target is: "under 2:10 is good, under 2:05 is better, under 2:00 is awesome".

For the most part my training has been running 3x a week along with physical therapy for my shoulder (pinched nerve). The shoulder is doing 85-90% better so I plan on adding swimming and biking back in soon.

Work is keeping me pretty busy so I haven't been able to keep up with everyone here. Looks like there is lots of great activity, keep it up!

Mark-
Strong work on the early season half marry.

I'm drinking a Hales Mongoose IPA in true BDAS honor. I stepped on the scale at 197.0 after dinner tonight after a long day at the office. I started this carp fest at 212.2 8 weeks ago. It's nice to see things going for the healthier.

I'm going to take an extra day off, the hit my interval run this thursday with renewed vigor.

It's encouraging to see.all the effort and encouragement here. Let's keep on rolling!

Great race...it must be stunning there.  I think a destination race is in order.

Also a good time on only 3x/week running; that's tough to do an HM on that kind of training.

Awesome race, Mark!!!

Kevin - great job on the weight loss!!

I got my 2500 yd swim in and 45 run yesterday. Today is supposed to be a 30 min Z2 ride with a quick change to a 15 min run. This may be on hold - outside of the fact that it's snowing/raining/freezing rain outside, my poor little 10 year old has the stomach bug. Poor baby. Every 15 min to 1/2 hour for the last 4.5 hours. Strength to you, my child!

You lose wieght - you get to continue to drink the hoppy IPA's which you love. Start puting it back on and I'll be knocking at your door with a fruit beer in hand...

Kick @$$ today on those intervals!

First and foremost - hope your bambino feels better ASAP! Nothing worse than having a sick kid.

Good on your for your work in the pool yesterday! I hope you are able to get in your ride.

Are you signing up for the season opener - it's not on mother's day. If you do - I will do!

Tomorrow is my personal birthday race - the Bucket List Half Marathon. Thanks to my father's knee replacement surgery and my brother triple bypass (and my lack of a job), I'm out here in Cleveland (my hometown) and plan on running from the hospital where I was born, to my house, to all the schools where I went to some of my favorite stores and hangouts when I was a kid.... Should be a blast and since it'll be a long (around 15 miles), I plan on walking and running the whole thing.

I'll give you a report tomorrow!

Prost!

More maintenance than anything. We have worked through last year's injury but there are still muscle imbalances there to work on. Now he's also making sure I'm maintaining mobility everywhere with the added training - shoulders, etc for swimming. I have a torn labrum in my right shoulder that i was able to avoid surgery for so he's keeping an eye on that as well. He's also been working with me on cycling strengthening exercises and upper back strength.
