Question for the group: I bought a new HRM (Garmin, premium soft strap model) after my old one crapped out in August. I have been training without, but really missed that metric. I've now tried twice to use it, and neither time did it ever pick up a signal. The 910x directions say to put the HRM on and then turn on your unit. It will pair when within 3m of the HRM. Done--didn't work. I tried tightening the strap, using electrode gel, changing to a cotton shirt, and wetting the strap down completely. Nothing worked. It also says that you may need to use it for 5-10 minutes before it will display--did that too and nothing. Any suggestions as to what I should try next? I'm more than a bit peeved that I had to buy a new one in the first place. The old one was a warranty replacement from my first. Both lasted less than a year. Personally, I think they should last longer than that. It should work out of the box! I would definitely give them a call - it should last a while. I've been using mine for just over a year at least 3-4 days/week, have never washed the strap and it still works well. Something isn't working for you. It's worth a phone call - maybe they'll at least trouble shoot with you over the phone. Oh, and something totally gross - I've never used electrode gel, I just lick the strap along the front where the sensors are and it's worked every time...TMI? hahaha. Gross, I know. I know this sounds ridiculous for a new strap, but try changing the battery. It not only would fix a battery issue but sort of reboots the HRM, too. |

I was having trouble pairing and read somewhere to place it within 1cm and it paired. After the initial pair I did not have to have it that close. Good Luck! |

2126 Baltimore, Maryland | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society (BDAS) - Open It's good to be back, thanks everyone! DQ, so sorry to hear about all your family and personal issues! Definitely let us know how your brother and father's surgeries go! When it rains, it pours. I will keep you in my thoughts! Also, I love fruit beers! Bring it, Kevin Scott mentioned a race as a group. I would definitely be interested! Preferably in winter and we can go somewhere warm Jenn, are you in PT for an injury or just maintenance? Juan, thanks for the compliment for Raven! I also think she is gorgeous, but I am biased, hehe. I worked out really hard yesterday for the first time since November. My body was completely shocked. I went to this boutique gym where it's basically a group fitness class, and one interval in I felt like I was going to pass out. I made it through, but was fighting the urge to throw up towards the end. It felt good though. The hard exercise that is, not the almost throwing up. I also went for a 3 mile run last night with a friend. Excited for some yoga tonight to stretch out my extremely stiff legs! |

I'm up in Middle River; just moved out of Canton about 2 months ago. I did an interval class (Les Mills' Body Combat) and I thought I was going to die. |

Regular 866 Central Coast, CA | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society (BDAS) - Open First race of 2016 is in the books: Seaside half marathon! My watch time was ~2:03, pretty happy with the result as my usual HM target is: "under 2:10 is good, under 2:05 is better, under 2:00 is awesome". For the most part my training has been running 3x a week along with physical therapy for my shoulder (pinched nerve). The shoulder is doing 85-90% better so I plan on adding swimming and biking back in soon. Work is keeping me pretty busy so I haven't been able to keep up with everyone here. Looks like there is lots of great activity, keep it up! |

Today is supposed to be a 30 min Z2 ride with a quick change to a 15 min run. This may be on hold - outside of the fact that it's snowing/raining/freezing rain outside, my poor little 10 year old has the stomach bug. Poor baby. Every 15 min to 1/2 hour for the last 4.5 hours. Strength to you, my child! |

We have worked through last year's injury but there are still muscle imbalances there to work on. Now he's also making sure I'm maintaining mobility everywhere with the added training - shoulders, etc for swimming. I have a torn labrum in my right shoulder that i was able to avoid surgery for so he's keeping an eye on that as well. He's also been working with me on cycling strengthening exercises and upper back strength. |
