Only Germans win races on the bike.  Remember, it's all about the run.  Chris Lieto comes to mind

c'mon......first one to T2 wins, than any excuse in the book is good for why your run blew up.  right now, I'm going with, something nutrition based.....like, "the coke wasn't flat enough."Smile

That. Is. Freaking Funny!!

Wow. I don't think I was nervous until just now. Mostly I hate watching the seconds tick down while I sit here at my desk thinking, "Ya know, I should really be training right now!"

LP vets...what did you end up doing post-race? Pass out in the med tent? Go and cheer people on until midnight? Go jump in the lake to hose off and use as an "ice" bath?

Went straight for Stacy!  Ran my high for bit and got some food.  Got my gear headed back to the room to get cleaned up.  Stacy was so tired she fell asleep.

As Stacy was sleeping I snuck out back to the race.  I got the top of the hill to see gopennstate (that’s Jenn with 2 N’s) crossing the line.  Ran, well walked down to help her with her stuff, but she disappeared.

Hung around watching finishers until Ben & Jerry’s called my name.  Heading back into town and got the largest ice cream scoop of Cherry Garcia in a waffle cone.  Then headed back to watch the race.  So I put in a few miles after the race.  I should log that.

That's pretty cool that you made the attempt to go out there and support a fellow BT'er. But I am a little disappointed that beer was not a part of your post race plan. I know that beer increases dehydration but 1 can't hurt after the race.

So I'm convinced that after I finish, I want to maybe head back to the hotel and clean up, maybe grab some dinner (and, um, beer) but then go right back to the finish line and watch the late night finishers. I was so moved by that this past year, I want to experience it again.

I've also been told all I'll want to do is crash, but I feel like I can sleep on the car ride home on Monday.

my idea is to be by the finish line until hour 17:00, (after a trip to the hotel and what not) no matter what......

we'll see what happens....

I'm liking Tasr's idea of B&J's.....that will definitely be on the to do list, as long as I can stomach it!

I wasn't hungry at all, on way too much of a high.   Got my stuff, went back to the hotel, a SAINT took my compression socks off, showered and went right back to town.  I don't even think I sat down.  So excited, so much energy.  Went to LP Brewery or whatever it's called near the swim start & had beer, Jambalaya & more beer while watching the runners (pretty sure this is the first beer i'd had in years).  Then Jorge, Bob Stocks & I walked back to the oval to watch the last 20 minutes of finishers.  It was amazing.  Couldn't fall asleep later either b/c I was still so alive!     Then you wake up eventually the next morning and can't bend your legs, that part is nice.

Well played, sir.

Damn straight I'll be having a pop after the race.  If I can't physically put it down the hatch, I'll mainline it.

I'm dry until the race, but after the finish line my wife will meet me with a special cooler containing a Guinness that is a fraction of a degree above it's freezing point.  Scene: me playing the part of Popeye after getting layed out by Bluto (140.6 miles).  I'm flat on my back about to go in to la la land when Olive Oyl (the wife) comes to my rescue with a can of (Guinness) and dumps it down my throat.  Popeye springs up ready to fight again.

If it doesn't go exactly this way, it doesn't matter.  It's my story and I'll be sticking to it.

It took me until my 4th IM to actually make it back to the finish line after finishing my own race.

The first 2, admittedly, where I was staying was nowhere close to the finish area, so it wasn't really in the cards.

The 3rd one, I intended to, but made the mistake of laying down after taking my shower.  Ooops!

Finally made it back after IMWI, and it wasn't as hard or as bad as I thought.  Just make sure you have a place to sit, but keep moving around every now and then so you don't get too stiff.  I was standing too much, and that started to really get uncomfortable by the end of the night.

The real pain doesn't hit until the next day.

I plan to make it back to the finish line for LP.  The enthusiasm and the joy of the last finishers is truly an amazing thing to be a part of.  Staying 2 blocks from the finish should really help make that easy this year too.

Before the race I had all the intentions of going back to the finish at midnight, but after over 12 hours racing in the freezing rain of 2008 I was not crazy about going back and standing in it for another 2 hours. Maybe this year will be a tad drier??

I dunno...legend has it that it rains cats and dogs one year and then dry the next. Swishyskirt and I got a little damp watching the swim, but it dried up. I hope July doesn't see downpours! We watched the finishers at midnight. Seeing Matthew Long finish has been one of the highlights of my entire life: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5k3yo3tRFY I STILL got teary eyed watching the YouTube clip!

I've gone back to the finish line both times and loved it.  There's no way I could sleep after either one I was too pumped up.  My lovely wife has accompanied me both times.  Those scenes have hooked my wife into the sport.  This year we'll be having a family reunion at the race so I'll have a bunch of family to bring back down the the finish line.  Maybe I can hook another triathlete.

Did the internet go down in the U.S.  I didn't check this site for 24 hours so I would have something to read during my lunch break and there's nothing.  Everyone okay?  Crap, you're probably training.
