I have a swim question that I'm trying to formulate...forgive me if it takes a couple of tries to narrow it down and get it "right".

I'm slow. For now. And I'm ok with that. I'm really trying to work on my form first, then endurance, and I figure speed will start to improve as I get more time in the water (at this point pool time is limited by daycare and kids' school/nap schedule). Am I wrong in assuming this?

But as I do ponder the idea of speeding up some day, one thing I am definitely noticing is that my turnover rate is slow as I'm thinking about where all my body parts should be. But another reason (I think) it's slow is that I'm comfortably breathing every 4 strokes (b-L-R-L-b), and it's the length of time it takes to exhale fully in water to get a good breath again. So to speed up stroke means my breathing is thrown off....lungs not empty/not full breath, etc. (I hope this is making sense Surprised)

Do I not even worry about this now? Anyone else have this issue in the beginning? Is bilateral breathing something I should start playing with?

(hahahaha! I just re-read these paragraphs and found it giggle-worthy to know that 6 months ago none of this would have crossed my mind...let alone be written down for a Pod to see.)

Are you comfortable breathing on either side? That's an important skill.

Can you speed up but breathe every 2 strokes?

I wanted to get one of these for my back window of my truck and my wife said no that it's cheesy and tacky. What do y'all think? I thought it was cool

You're asking the Manatees if you should do something that might be considered cheesee and tackee? I'd say that's a plus for us

DOOOO EEEEET

Lol, I guess I'm asking if y'all have 70.3 or 140.6 sticker on your vehicles. My wife says that I'm showing off (look at me...) I tried to explain to her I'm not trying to show off it's displaying the lifestyle that I have chosen.

I had a 13.1 magnet on my car.  Then I added the 70.3 magnet.  Then I replaced the 13.1 with a 26.2 and replaced the 70.3 with a 140.6.  Then I started to buy myself necklaces for races completed (Jonathan, you may want to skip this last step.)

Ladies, the necklaces are inexpensive but fun.  I have two from Lift Your Sole (http://www.liftyoursole.com/, 26.2 and similar charm one that I made up after Vineman last year) and one from  Endorphin Warrior (140.6).  After Myrtle Beach, I got myself the run charm that I got for my Secret Santa.  Just fun stuff.

This is a store we went in to the last time we were in Moab. They have all kinds of tri art/jewelry/ornaments as well as stuff for each of the individual disciplines. Earth Studio Moab

ETA: apparently they are moving to THIS SITE

Bookmarked it!

This is the spare tire of my Jeep.

LIKE!!!!

I'm planning out races for this year, so I may have a 5150 on there before the end of the year. If I ever go further then that, you know the stickers will be on there. I may never get a tattoo, but I sure will put stickers on my spare tire cover.

That's pretty awesome!  What's a 5150?

OK, TW and I took a couple of days off from work. Today we went to Tree-Umph. It was awesome, a ropes course/zipline through the trees. What a blast!

Oh!  Fun stuff!

Yowza, went on the Sam Adams Brewery tour yesterday... by the end of the night I was in a drag bar, surrounded by drag queens and people who love them. Notably, a young man with a tattoo on the inside of his lip that said "eff you" that will be in the lovely cast of the Jerry Springer show on Monday. You just can't make this stuff up.

I'm supposed to be racing on Saturday (tomorrow), but I'm having some fairly serious girl problems.  I'll spare the guys the details....but it's been miserable.  Of course, the day I try to call the nurse to get in, they have phone problems and I can't get through.

Yanti, tell us about your medical film usage.

I have only had very bad chaffing when my zipper pull came loose early in the swim.  That hurt!

Even so, it's always good to have this info in the mental toolbox ;-)

Yes. It's the clinic at the hospital where I work.  As soon as my sleepy butt daughter gets up and I get her to daycare, I'll go over there.

Well, that was a long night! I could not fall asleep last night, my mind kept going at about 80mph...I did eventually crash, but it was after midnight. I woke up still feeling off--not as bad, but I am thinking it is going to be another day of hydration only. Of course now I am exhausted too...I can't even call in to work, so off to it I go. Frown

Finally got through on the phones. The midwives (who I see for everything OB/GYN) are gone today. My options were to see my midwife on Monday or see one of the OBs today.  I opted for Monday because I'd much much rather see the midwife.  The OBs were pretty rude to me the two times I saw them during my pregnancy.
