Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Way to go racers! You guys rocked it today. My neighbor finished in 14:27. The brothers from here finished in 10:51 and 11:50. The fourth guy from here had to withdraw at about 18 miles into the run - his knee wouldn't allow it. Great job guys. |

![]() Chet, You are an awesome (and fast)Ironman. Way to go! Congrats!!!!! Tracy, can't wait to hear about your day. I thank you guys for all the support you've given me! I can honestly say I thought about you a lot out on the course. I will do a race report soon, but here is a quick and dirty. Swim - seeded myself about forth row middle (forth row - I thought I was a pretty decent swimmer, middle - I don't know, someone has to be there). Cannon goes off and we run into the water. I trip and go down, and basically get run over by three (I think) people. I had a panic attack getting run over and couldn't catch my breath and when I tried it was just water...I really wanted to get out of the water, but couldn't since so many people were running at me. Ended up swallowing a lot of water. Breathed every two strokes, breathing on my strong side, just to calm down....and it took a long time to settle down. 1st lap was crazy, other than being run over I was hit, kicked in the face, all kinds of stuff. Second lap was a little better - I swam very wide. Saw a lot of jellyfish out there, but didn't get stung this time. Oh, nice swells....no pancake flat swim this year. Bike was ok. I am happy with the bike except for one point where we had a lot of rolling hills. You can not tell this black&white girl that it is flat and then throw in some rollers. I never rode that section of the course, but we did drive it so I did know they were coming. Run felt good starting off. Mile 4 started feeling sick to my stomach and that continued to get worse through mile 14. I walked alot those 10 miles - I was really sick. Literally got sick and then hit my special needs bag at mile 14. Got something for my tummy and also for my headache (I threw these pills in at the last minute Friday night) and I was good to go. Negative splitted the marathon as I ran the last 1/2 only stopping for the port-o-let. Happy to cross the finish line! I was suprised I didn't cry at the finish line (I cry at Hallmark commercials) but I think I was just so happy to be done. Not sore now, my biggest ache is the big rub I got from my wetsuit during the practice swim Wednesday, which of course wasn't helped yesterday. But I really have no complaints. I heard about several bike accidents, and saw one (car hit a rider). That's it for now. Thanks again you guys, you are the BEST! |

![]() God luck today John and Sam! |

![]() Oh, one more IMFL note. Best sign on the course was at the end of the bike: "Kickoff is in 4 hours...HTFU" I loved it! |

CONGRATULATIONS CHET AND LINDA! Can't wait to read your race reports...it appears that everything went really well for both you IRONMEN. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hey everyone. I had a great day. Almost an hour faster than Lubbock. 6:51. I don't have my splits yet but from what I remember the they were in the neighborhood of.... s: 43:xx b: 3:30 r: 2:30 I was 4th out of the water in my AG. And it was 200m long so somewhere a little faster than 1:55 / 100. Not you know who over there in Florida but I'll take it. I'm cool with the bike. Constant rollers w/ almost no flat. I passed a few people, that was odd. I'm cool with the run. My one long shot goal was to PR the half marathon, 2:13. Was in the 9:40 range for the first 3 miles but I sh+t the bed at at mile 5. HR was good just no legs. Suzy your advice played a big role today. Thank you. Overall the bike course was a little bit easier than Lubbock but the run was almost right there with it. Some great improvement! And I'm feeling it a lot more than I did up there. My legs and butt were hurting so bad at the end of the run and for few hours after. Bottom line, I left everything out there. I did go by medical after the race because I was seeing weird spots. My BP was good and no fever so they think it was because I was spent. Started feeling better about 20 minutes later after just sitting and doing nothing. And that's my first season... 1/4 IM, sprint, 1/2 IM, sprint, sprint, 1/2 IM. I love the 1/2. You really find something out about yourself. Most of it is good. I can't wait for Lone Star and racing the 1/2 with some of you. I wish somehow all of you could be here for it. I'll get a RR up tomorrow. Thanks everyone. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Great Job John!!!! I cracked up this morning reading your comment to Suzy. Those were the best beers I have ever drank! Travel day yesterday back to my brother in laws then back to Vegas tomorrow. I am working on the race report today though. B2B results page seems a little messed up. About a third of us didn't get our swim or bike splits so I will try to be as close as i can. Anyway 53 minute swim, 5:54 bike, and 4:45 run. Yes I was running ![]() Special moments of the race: Sun coming up over the Atlantic 10 minutes before the swim, guy pulling off to pee fell over clipped in and rolled down a hill with his bike (I stopped to make sure he was ok and he was laughing too), Sunset over the Battleship (most emotional moment of the day for me) and shortly after the finish with my family all there and the Battleship in the background. More details later. Linda, it was motivating to know you were going the same time as us. I thought to myself a bunch of times "I know Linda isn't slowing down". It was one of the things that kept me going. |
