That's so awesome!!

My thesis was part of a really large project of course, but still, it's pretty exciting.  Due to scheduling difficulties and such, I pretty much gave up the idea of publishing my thesis, but with a Nature reference behind it, I am reconsidering.  Perhaps I should talk to my MS advisor and see what he thinks.  It would of course have to wait a few months until I'm done with my coursework.  Hmmm.

Seems like it is definitely worth writing up and trying to submit.  If you get to reference a Nature paper, that is always helpful.  Plus, it's going to be great to have on your CV.

[Vent] So apparently right before my boss signed my customers over to me a year ago he visited with one of them (my 2nd or 3rd largest customer) and told them that we would give them their area to sell in without us supplying any of his competitors, with the exception of one car dealer. My customer has two stores, both in very small towns.  My customer calls me today and asks why he saw our delivery truck at another store in town. I reassure him that it's none of my doing and that I will get to the bottom of the matter.  I call my boss and he says "We did tell him we would give him his area, but these other customers are on national account and if we don't serve them someone else will, and we don't want to lose the business."  Of course, those people are in his name (he gets paid for them and I don't) and my customer is in my name (I get paid for them, as does he, because he's my boss.).  So now I have to call, or go see, my customer and explain why he should stay with us, when we aren't going to stick with our agreement.  This problem is made worse by the fact that, due to his size, our competitors have already seen him and made it perfectly clear that they will be more than willing to do what we said we would do, but didn't.  So, once again, my boss has found a way to screw me while making himself more money.  Thanks, A-Hole.  [/Vent]

Yeah, this is actually my first pub, so I'm excited.  I feel like it's worth a shot, I do still have a good relationship with my old advisor.

Why are you still at this job? Seriously.  It's one thing to have a few annoying co-workers or a project that you don't love.  But a boss that is undercutting his own employees.  Dude.

And the worst that comes out of it is that you'll know how to make your papers better when you want to submit PhD research.

Actually at this point I'll have my first PhD paper submitted before my Master's, which is apparently not unheard of.

A lady just came in and bought a Step2 heavy duty swimming pool for their pet bear.  7 months old...I asked what are you gonna do with him when he gets older?  She said looking into zoo's or build a large habitat.....why would you want a pet bear? also why would you want a pet bear with the intention of trying to place it when it got out of control.

If you find a company interested enough in you they will pay for the broken lease penalty. Just an idea to keep in the back of your head.
