Oh gosh - so much to think about with the new challenge.  Kathy G and Custer - Dream Chaser suggested going right through without a break, so blame him!  Actually, I am really chomping at the bit to get started, I'm not sure I can wait another week, but I'll give it some thought.  Can't blame you guys if you don't want to sign back on right away...I'm daunted by the whole prospect and I haven't even started yet!

Can we be sure to keep the birthday as a non-ding/excuseable day?  Mine is 3/13 and I'm going to have cake!

I posted in the other thread, but can I play too? I have been really bad with eating habits since October (basically after I had to drop out of the marathon) and it shows...I need to drop a few lbs of laziness and I need something drastic to shock me back into eating well again. I'm giving up wheat for Lent, as a sort of experiment, so why not cut sugar too? I know I don't normally post in the weight-loss forum, but I've let myself go a bit, so that needs to change.

Yippie!  We've got good interest again.  A new thread is now open, again in the "Triing For Weightloss" folder.  So as not to clutter up this challenge, let's keep discussion of the "2009" challenge there.....

Thanks D,

The support here has been amazing. Although I am upset I am not logging things as well as I was before. I am going for the last 10 day push here to see if I can win this thing to much weight to lose to win I think, but it won't stop me from trying. I will post my 90 and 60 day picks at the end of the challenge here.

Hey! I'm still here, just hanging on 'til the bitter end...a little bummed because I can't possibly win!

But, I'm proud of myself for not getting any dings and very grateful to DC for this challenge; I have never been this faithful to an eating plan in my life...

I'm anxious to see what happens between you and Kathy!

I'm interested to see the results on this one. No dings for me but no huge weight loss either. I'm interested to see who our winner is.

Thanks again to DC. Cutting the sugar out has really helped with my training and I plan to take the things I learned with me past this challenge. Good luck to the spring challenge folks!

One of my favourite movies of all time!  I recently watched it with my kids and I was thrilled they loved it.

Okay... so I have to figure out who the winner is.  Soon.

Okay... so as posted in the original rules: The contest will end on February 28th at 12 midnight.  Tie-breaker weights must be posted before midnight that night

So either Saturday or Sunday (March 1st) EVERYONE MUST POST THEIR FINAL WEIGHT.  THE DEADLINE TO DO THIS IS MARCH 1ST, SUNDAY AT 6PM ET.  I'd much prefer if everyone posted their final weight on Saturday, but I will give everyone to Sunday night at 6PM Eastern Standard Time.  Sunday night at 6:01, I will sit down and go over the spreadsheet and determine the winner.  Remember -- if you entered the contest and mysteriously disappeared for most of the contest and suddenly reappear 15lbs lighter and with no dings, you will not be crowned the winner.

If you will not have access to a computer, you can post your final weight NOW or anytime this week.  Whatever weight, and dings are logged into the spreadsheet on Sunday night, March 1st at 6:00 ET, will be the FINAL DINGS AND FINAL WEIGHT POSTED.

So again: THIS SUNDAY NIGHT, AT 6PM ET, I AM GOING TO SIT DOWN AND LOOK AT THE GOOGLE SPREADSHEET.  WHATEVER STATS ARE POSTED AS OF THAT TIME ARE FINAL.

If anyone has any petitions, pleas, or problems with the outcome or questions the validity of any results, send me a Private Message directly.  Do not air it on the board.

Please note there is one change to the Prize as originally stated: the $100.00 Gift Certificate will be from Tri Sports ; not Triathlon Lab.  Their site is: http://trisports.com/  They are one of, if not the largest Triathlon on-line sites and have a better, larger selection than Triathlon Lab.  The Gift Certificate will be mailed promptly on Monday, March 2nd.

On a personal note:  I've been extremely disciplined this last week.  I started this contest at 182 and this morning weighed 174.2 -- down 4.2%.  And I hope to be down to 172 by Saturday.  Although I have approximately 100 dings (no joke) for this contest ; if I had not started this contest I would have dinged over 1,000 times.  Since the start of this contest I have cut out 95% of the processed foods in my daily eating, I drink and enjoy my coffee black (I was a die hard sugar and milk guy), and simply put: I enjoy eating natural foods and my training and daily energy have greatly benefited from my new diet -- from my new way of living.

I started this contest as just that, a catalyst to start a new way of living.  I don't plan to go back to the old way.  I want to eat clean and lean.  I want to live a long and healthy life.  For me, this was the best 100 bucks I ever spent.  And I am so humbled and happy to know 100 bucks helped out so many people in this contest ... So if any of you have had the same life-changing experience I have, then you are a winner.  And your health and happiness is a gift priceless gift.

I'm still around.  I haven't been losing much weight, but I haven't been eating sugar.  I can't say that I miss it for the most part.  It's kind of weird, given that I really didn't think I could do this and I was really frustrated at the beginning.

I'm hanging on trying to push to the end see if I can drop a couple more pounds. Last two weeks I ran a 10,000 calorie deficit and only lost a pound

I'm happy with the changes my body has made in last 2 months...all my clothes fit and some are to big. Seriously I'm surprised how much weight I've lost. I've been counting calories in and out with my new GoFit Wear device and CalorieKing. I look forward to this being over so I can not think so much about food and calories.

I didn't eat much sugar before the challenge. Hardest thing to give up was Splenda and Diet Pepsi.

My plan is to have diet Pepsi on occasion but not on a regular basis.

I'm out. After starting HIM training a few weeks ago, I seemed to be in pre or post training mode most of the time so watching sugar intake just wasn't working for me. Congratulations to everyone who has stuck with it, and made lifestyle changes!!! You all are awesome! Thank you DC for putting on this challenge!

Okay ... I know I'm not in the running for the prize but I am proud to say that I had remained sugar free until today. Went out to eat and made and effort to select items without high sugar sauces and so on. Dinner comes and I take one bite and it's clear that the high sugar stuff wasn't removed, I stopped and ate around it. I had made a huge effort to avoid sugar all this time and it was hidden in the food. It's my first ding with less than 1 week to go in this challenge and I'm a tad upset. It's amazing how much sugar is hidden in food ... it still surprises me.

The funny thing about it was I could totally taste the sugar, it was way too sweet.

I will be away from a computer all weekend, so I am posting my final weight now which is 143. I have fallen off the wagon the last 2 weeks and I really don't like the way I feel and the 1 pound weight gain so I am gearing up for the next challenge. This has really been good for me. Thanks again Dream Chaser. I needed it!

I'm down to a final weight of 180 a solid 12 pound weight loss. I did have two dings this week. I'm surprised I lost that last pound I totally fell off the wagon training wise. My wife was in a pretty bad car wreck (she's OK) trying to get that all sorted out has been a real pain. Anyway thanks to DC, this has been a real eye opener to the effect that sugar has on our bodies and life style.

Thanks again
Tim
