Wow I could never be a stay-at-home mom or dad! My mother-in-law who normally watches the kids 3 days/week, is out of town , and my wife had to go into to work , so I came home and 'parented.' No foraml workout, but danced in the basement with them for 30 minutes, and cleaned up non-stop. I hugged my wife when she got home!!

You'll have to come up some weekend and I'll show you around Galbraith, either bikes or on foot.

Remember I am a seahawks, mariners, used to be sonics fan also... Sad that the last championship for a team I rooted for was the Sonics in 79 over the bullets...

Enough bitter Seattle fan talk.  Very nice looking trail run.

Also, I need to be better about bringing a camera on my runs, rides.

My last run from work I did:

Past Arlington Cemetary
Over Memorial Bridge
Past Lincoln Memorial
Past Reflecting Pool
Past WW2 memorial
Past Washington Monument
Near Vietnam memorial
Around National Mall
Past a bunch of the smithsonians and a few other museums
Almost to the Capital
And back

This was my 7mi tempo run.  I will take pic's next time but not on the tempo run Laughing

amazing views, i'm very jealous.  in NYC most of our energy is trying to avoid the traffic.  though central park isn't bad but nothing like your pics..

I did most of that run during my army 10 miler. We started at the Pentagon, went over the bridge and turned left towards Watergate, back down along the river, past the WWII memorial, and did the up and back behind the mall and infront of the capital and returned to the Pentagon. But I got to run down the center of the street, ha ha ha.

Yeah I get to dodge tourists on the sidewalk.

Karen I think you just like to stir the pot!!!!???!

Hey, I resent resemble that statement!!! Laughing

Bob, did we make up?

Okay, I finally went back to the gym last night! (And posted my workout - nothing impressive, but I was there!! I still can't view or post to the logs from home, I have tried several suggestions, but nothing has worked. I will have to wait until the day after when I have some free time at work) Anyway, here is what I learned when you have been away from the gym for some time:

- Remember to pack socks for your workout

- Remember the checkbook to pay for a new month (They let me in without paying last night!)

- A new running treadmill is a good thing (Hey, it is winter, there was always a line for the running TMs they had, and I am a wuss about the weather!)

- The creepy guys who always tried to hit on you still do even though they haven't seen you in a while

- Don't get on the scale your first night back ('Nuff said Cry)

- Remember your asthma inhaler

- I really missed going to the gym and the good way I feel after

- Most importantly shave your legs before you go!! (Again, it is winter. I think I have worn pants to work every day since Thanksgiving. In the summer they get shaved every day. In the winter, not so much. This is one of my charming qualities that my husband has grown to love over the years! Lucky him! But, when you will be wearing shorts, in public, a quick shave will make everyone happy!!)

Aloha from rainy Kauai (do you feel sorry for me yet?)

Made it through three days of consecutive running wearing nothing but shorts, a bra top and shoes!  The leg kind of bugged me, but being outside next to the ocean is FAB!   It has been the usual rainy weather so most of my good hiking trails are not doable.  Phooey!  Think tomorrow I am taking a day off to R&R the leg.  Perhaps tonight I will go out and drink too much knowing the only thing I need to do tomorrow is sit in a launch chair and dodge raindrops!

What a coincidence that is what I wear while running at the beach also...

Sounds like you are having a great time even with the rain, still nice and warm though.

Isnt it called a manziere??

I guess i can called this a "PB ALERT"

1:06 and 13 seconds......I just ran 10k for the 1st time in my life!!! Probably could have ran it faster, but was more concerned about actually doing the distance. I am amazed. I swam 1km this morning and just finished running 10k. A year and a half ago, I couldn't imagine runing 1km then driving 10km later.

I really like this forum. It can become a way for us to celebrate and talk about successes with people that understand where we are coming from. And really, gloat if you will. But in a positive way. Know what i mean?

Awesome job!  That is what these groups are great for, brag all you want.  I don't have a lot of friends that do this kind of stuff and my wife hears it all day so I love to come here and tell you guys what kind of training or racing I am doing at the moment.

Absolutely! Cool

Great job getting back to the gym - the first time back is always the hardest step!

I've forgotten everything that there is to forget either for the workout or for work afterwards.  Luckily there's a 24 hour Walmart on the way to work that is good for buying various clothing items!

Karen... The nice thing is that those creepy guys looking at you mean you "STILL GOT GAME!!!"  Coming from a male triathlete who shave's his legs.... I understand... My wife and I often compete who can get their legs the smoothest!  ..... I think I take the cake for smoothest, but I miss more spots... She has years of practice on me!!
