Hopefully IM has all the bugs worked out - it was a complete disaster for IMNC in October.  My daughter and I spent hours on the course and only saw my wife at the finish line.  The app was down all day, and I was informed at the time it had a history of being like that.

Good luck Andrew!

I'm busy getting an aerobic workout trying to find the correct ear clearing hop position! Thank you to everyone who inspired me. My dog is looking at me like I'm crazy.

Good luck, Andrew!!! What is the forecast looking like for the race?

Ran a mile and played two football games yesterday (we won our league!). We went out to celebrate, which included drinking bud light from Das Boot (our trophy for winning). Got home around 11:30 and woke up at 5:15 for masters practice. 2600 yards. My arms were still dead from boot camp on Wednesday and he crushed us. The meet on Sunday will be very interesting. Still haven't decided what races I'm doing, although I'm thinking 500 fr, 200 fr, maybe 100 fr, and 100 bk. My coach told me to do the 1650 and I laughed at him. I want this to be fun, not torture! Will probably do a relay or 2 as well.

Hope you have a great swim meet!  500/200/100 free are great events -- they can tell you a lot about your "rate of decay" and where your strengths are and where you should focus your efforts.  Can't wait to hear about it!

Hi all,

Thanks for the warm welcome! I have my first n00b question for you :D

Are you all paying lots of attention to what you eat? I'm not a terrible eater, but I'm wondering if I should be eating less processed meat, bread & pasta? I've stepped up my training for the last couple of months and noticed that my body is a little run down

Simply, should I focussing a lot more on what I eat?

Cheers all, Ben!

Ben - I'll write more tomorrow about food. It is definitely the 4th discipline of Triathlon! Be sure you're getting adequate recovery food - protein for sure and some carbs. Eat every few hours but small portions - keeps your energy stable throughout the day. You are correct in that sugar and processed foods are not the greatest options. You get the quick high followed by a crash and fatigue.

Totally agree with Jenn on the food. The more whole food you can get, the better.
Also an app like my fitness pal can help a lot I realizing what your eating habits are like and how changes will affect your caloric/nutritional intake each day.

Andrew-IS-AN-IROMAN!!!!

Extremely happy to see you did it, I´ll try to follow your steps early July, this is highly motivating to stop procrastinating training sessions.
Look forward to read the RR!

A quite complete and easy to read book on this topic was suggested few months ago by DQ (Swim Bike Run Eat) - I found it really useful as I am not a terrible eater either but with an absolute lack of schedule. Sure it would help.
