Subject: RE: SWBKRUN Mentor Group-"Off Season?" What is that?!!

So, now IM is done I am looking at 2010.  It hurts to not be heading to TX in April, but what can I say....can't really bag my sister's wedding for a race.  Can I??? Frown

Anyone have any cool/fun races scheduled in 2010?  My preference is longer races opposed to sprints.

I'm planning on an 8k/Marathon weekend in March, but everything else is open.  Looking hard at Augusta.

Who is looking at Augusta?  I think Doug is in...anyone else?  John, Andy, Barry, Chris, Tracy, ANYONE???

Maybe SWBKRUN kicks off 2010 with Lonestar and closes with Augusta?  just a thought

Glad you had fun Tony.  I'm thinking about one in December... never done one before either.

Go Team Tri Life!  Is this the right one Trevor?  Pretty cool.  And she's mother of two so she probably understands life and training.

depends on brother in laws wedding.  no date yet but supposed to be around there.  wedding will be down in charleston.  but i also have the Long Course Triathlon Halfmax National Championship on the radar.  it's in myrtle beach next year.  week after augusta.  we'll see.

edit. not only can you but you SHOULD bag the wedding for galveston.

dalessit - 2009-11-14 10:56 AM Had a blast running the 8k this morning.  Ran it in 49:59.  Quite a few big climbs, lots of rocks, roots, leaves etc, and 2 stream crossings.  Course was sloppy and muddy due to all the rain we have had in the last few days.

Would have been a bit faster but ran it with my neighbor and his knee got sore at one point so I slowed down to keep with him for a bit then he just told me to go ahead so I took off.

Never done a trail run before, think I will look for more.

Nice run.  Sounds like a nice change to hitting the pavement

That is her for sure. She seems pretty good. Looking forward to it. I sent her an email today and told her she needs to teach me to run that fast by April.

Linda tell your sister to move the wedding. If she is a real sister, she'll understand.

I'd love to have some MG members come do IMCDA with me! There's CF slots open. And, well you did have Lonestar planned BEFORE she had the wedding planned...

Also have Great Western Bicycle Rally scheduled. Doing the century, but staying for the whole rally. Looks like a blast!

Linda, check out the FSSeries. (fsseries.com). They have a open water swim series that I am probably going to do. I believe it is 3 one mile swims and one 2 miler. I am planning on White Lake Half with the hubby, Savage of course, possibly Pinehurst, I should do a marathon some where in there, and hopefully Augusta - as long as it doesn't interfere with my trip to Canada. But this is my main event for 2009. Any ladies interested? It is a Carmichael Training System camp in the mountains of Asheville NC - women only. 3 days of fully supported training rides, support vehicles, instructors, lessons, the whole nine yards. http://www.trainright.com/camps.asp?uid=4445

Tracy, I saw those ows...may do them.  Didn't FSS do some splash-n-dash events last year at TAC?  Wonder if those were any fun and if they are doing them again in '10.

1. are those BT shirt you cute family has on? How did you get them? The shirts not the family.
...

Sorry never answered this....A BT'er had the shirts designed and we just placed our order through him.
I think they do that for most of the IM's.  One note...I AM NOT a fan of orange, but orange never looked so good out on the course.  It really stood out so we never missed any BT support.  If I ever design a shirt I will go with a color that is different and will stand out....just a thought for you Lonestar folks (yes, I am envious.  I want a SWBKRUN mg shirt).

Man it has been a real tough year for us....actually don't remember a year near as bad.  And yes, we are still hurting after yesterday.  Stanford?  Dang!!

And NO, I don't like orange.  And NO, I don't like the horns - may even use the "hate" word (but don't tell my kids)
The only thing, IMO, Univ of Texas has going for it is they do have a fast pool...use to be one of the fastest in the world.

Edited to apologize - sorry to sound so angry   Smile

Linda for a getaway race (I know a little far to travel!), CHECK OUT http://racecenter.com/pacificcrest/

It is a super cool area, and a REALLY well put on race!  I am thinking of doing this 1/2 next year as opposed to Boise.  It is a really sweet, beautiful course!

I have a lot to catch up on here....

Cool pictures.

Those races look fun!  Would love to get out that way.  I love the "temperatures between 38 and 90" and "water temp 63-66.  Wetsuit suggested".  Looks great, think I'll add this to the "consider this one list".  Hubby did suggest destination races this year      Let me know if you decide on it.  Thanks!
