Speaking of bread... Salty, I asked our barista yesterday about the La Boulange. He said we should have it around Christmas time. He said we don't get the bistro packs because they are too hard to ship.

Mmmm - the boulange stuff is deeee-licious!  I've had the pumpkin/cream cheese mini coffee cake thing, the spinach croissant, the butternut squash croissant, the mini lava chocolate thingy (though it was too chocolatey for me so I gave it away) and something else that I can't remember right now.

NOM!

Man, I hate when I miss multiple days of manatee madness, waaaaay too much to catch up on!  So of the little skimming I did:

Jo - take care of that wrist and feel better soon!

Salty - woooooo!!  Boston, baby!!

AK Jon - glad to see ya back, buddy!

Yanti - keep healing!

Everyone else - I'm sure you posted important things but I only went back a few pages and skimmed those quickly, so no intentional slights by not mentioning your goings on.

One or the other? Sleeves.

Then look for a good deal on last seasons sleeveless until you find one for less than $150, then buy it too

Hahaha.  What would you say are your preferred scenarios for either?

Also, picking up a used wetsuit would be fine to do, right?

Well in my whole ONE season of tris...

It's not so much my own experience with this as it is that I have posed this question on a couple of different boards and arrived at this answer.  If a race is wetsuit legal look at the wetsuits the pros are wearing--almost always long sleeved.  Does that mean it's right for the average AGer, maybe maybe not, but sleeves = faster in the water.  When the temps are warm, that extra suit can make you feel kind hot (especially for longer races/slower swimmers), and the sleeves add some time to getting it off.  I only had one race this year I would have really liked a sleeveless, and my full was fine, but if I get a chance to pick one up on the cheap, I probably will.

Used wetsuits are no problem.  I ordered one at the beginning of the season and it was back-ordered all summer.  The company sent me a rental to use until mine was ready.  It worked just fine.

FWIW, I don't feel noticeable fatigue in my shoulders from the suit.  All I seem to think about with it on, is how much effing better my position is in the water, and how I should really be practicing more so it feels like that all the time

I second the sleeveless option.

I have four full wetsuits - oh i lie i've sold two - i keep buying them but even in colder water i prefer the sleeveless.  I find the full restrictive around the neck...  my swim coach says my issue with stroke technique is the depth i'm not getting from my hand entry and i find i'm doubly encumbered in a wet tie.  So sleeveless it is for me.  I have a Rocket Science one and it is awesome.  I bought the full version, not the same at all.

And yes getting a sleeveless off is a hellluva lot easier!

Great weekend info from everyone!

Can we get logistic info for Jo's race start this weekend?

I had a CRAZY weekend. I feel like it's worthy of a report! Short version... I volunteered for packet pickup for one of Coach Andie's races this weekend, then also worked the transition area (slurp). There was a "kid" (19ish) that I spoke with at packet pickup that was going to do this race on a FIXIE! He did it too. I saw him in T2 looking ready to run. In transition I saw some speeeeedy transitioners, shoeshoebeltgone, and some slow ones, shoes off, take a drink, apply deoderant (yes deoderant), apply sunscreen, shoes on, eat a gel, take another drink, put on the hat... go. And we had several people try to bike or run out the wrong way. I ALWAYS walk the bike out run out when I get to a race.

Looking forward to my mud run this weekend. I've decided that the old Solomans (with over 375 miles on them) will be sacrificed for the race. I'm wondering what shorts to wear. My niece is making shirts for us to wear so I won't have to plan that. Those of you who've done these, what kind of shorts did you wear?

Have a great week everyone.

TJ

Hi all

BIB NUMBER IS 564

START TIME IS 6.17AM AUSSIE TIME (QUEENSLAND)

RACE IS IM 70.3 SUNSHINE COAST

It's a sanctioned IM event so should be trackable.  Its an inaugural so lots of attention and Pete jacobs is racing.  Macca's gone quiet, it's up the road for him wouldn't be surprised if the's there..not racing but watching.

WRIST UPDATE

Yesterday was a sore day so much so that i went to the ER to try and get an X-ray,  i chose the evening there was a power outage in the whole of eastern Melbourne some train derailment or some such.  So consequently there was a 6 hour wait for an Xray, unless there was a bone sticking through my skin i wasn't going to bother.  So went home to ice and more anti-inflammatories.

This morning it is half as painful - by my reckoning it will be fine by Sunday.

I can hold a cup today which i couldn't yesterday - i am thinking i will have to be that loser riding with a camelpak on Sunday because of the weakened grip i'm not sure i can do the waterbottle thing on the  bike.

forecast is hot.  I'm happy with that. no wind no rain is my ideal regardless of temperature!

That's great!! I was the 2013 BikeMS spokesperson for CT this year. It was fun but I wish they had me doing more public service stuff. Oh well. It's a great cause. Does this work? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0YMOtGWO5E&feature=c4-overview&... (toots own horn)

You have such a great voice! (and that you are cute goes without saying.) You are a great spokesperson for the cause. Thanks for sharing.

Yup, Janyne and Randee ROCK!!!  Thanks to both of you for being wonderful spokesperson and raising funds and awareness for a great cause.

Oh, and Randee, I LOVE the video of the grayhounds that started playing after the MS bite.  Are they yours? Precious!!

HEH

The black one, Jewell was ours. We had to put her down this past March - she had osteosarcoma (bone cancer). She was a great dog. Now we have a blue pup named Bloo - she's a goofball.

Thanks

I see one downside to buying a used wetsuit - wearing something that someone else has peed in. . That is pretty much all I can contribute to the wetsuit discussion. Oh, one other thing, desoto is having a sale on its wetsuits.

Is a used wetsuit like wearing someone else's underwear?  Probably not as bad.

It turns out that I have  HUUUGE discount on Xterra through a group I'm a part of.  But I'll check out Desoto.

It's an australian comedy from like, 2005 that my friends and I discovered. Chris Lilley plays 3 characters in the show. Anyway, one of the characters has "her" own off-shoot show as well. In fact, that may have come first and then Summer Heights High was the offshoot. Whatever, doesn't matter.

It's effing hilarious though.

You can pretty much youtube all of the episodes, starting @ 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AF0ciPrKzH4

random question here:  those of you that have toggled for email notifications when someone posts to a forum you have posted to - are you getting them?  I switched email providers yesterday and updated my email here.  At first I was getting the notifications, but have not gotten probably the last page worth of posts.  Trying to figure out if it is a me issue or a site issue.  thx
