I can live with that. th 70 degrees and cloudy is PERFECT, however, I could live without the winds (which are not that bad) and the chance for rain. But if it IS going to rain, I would rather have it on the run than the bike for safety reasons. Weather.com forecast is a little more grim than that...65F and showers all day (60% chance day and evening) and 13 mph winds. (What we don't want is the previous day's forecast to slide back a day: 22 mph winds...yippee!) Sunday we'll have the National Weather Service 7-day forecast...pretty much the gold standard extended forecast...just in time to pack. |

'screw this, I'm going home'. No...but, then again, I'm not going to stuff my T1 bag with gear I'm not likely to use to have to root through to get the stuff I really need if there's not a real chance of significant rain or really cold temps... |

Veteran 192 Southern California | Subject: RE: Ironman St. George - Utah : Official Thread The last two 'workouts' are done for me. Did my first OWS yesterday since Vineman last July and it was my first swim in my new full wetsuit. A little different than the sleeveless I have. Then I went out for a 47 mile ride and felt good although the HR was out of control for the effort, terrain, and performance. Not sure why, but it is an anomaly in my training and I am not going to worry about it. Plan on a short S/B/R session on monday mostly for gear checking and tuesday is packing day and travel on Wednesday. I have decided to not wear my watch on the swim, I think it will only cause my effort to increase and set me up for a tougher day than it will already be. I would like to get over to the get-together, but with my dad, uncle and cousin all racing and a whole bunch of family being there to support us, I might be too busy. Guess we will see though. |

Champion 5781 Northridge, California | Subject: RE: Ironman St. George - Utah : Official Thread First OWS this morning since my last tri Thanksgiving weekend...did one mile in the ocean...felt good. First time wearing my fullsuit since...boy, can't remember when...probably last June (every thing since then was in sleeveless). Two tears in it...have to repair them Tuesday once it's had a chance to dry out. Ran a couple easy miles after...ITBS is getting better, but that might have been my last run before the race. Packing is well under way. |

Extreme Veteran 488 Phoenix | Subject: RE: Ironman St. George - Utah : Official Thread I think someone already asked this question, but I don't feel like going through all 40+ pages to find it. Where are we putting our wetsuits after the swim? I've been looking over and over through the athlete guide, and I can't find any info on it. I know there's the morning gear bag, but it says we have to turn them in before the swim. Does it go in our bike gear bag after we get ready for the bike, and then pick it up later? |

Does it go in our bike gear bag after we get ready for the bike, and then pick it up later? all your swim gear (wetsuit included) goes in your T1 bag after your empty it and same with bike gear going into the T2 bag after you empty it. you will leave the race with all the bags you showed up with (except the special needs bags unless you go looking for them after the race). as for whats in my special needs bags. the bike bag will have a bar and gel, some extra salt, and probably an extra tube and air cartridge. the run bag will have some extra salt, a flask of red bull, and replacement wrist band. this is my third IM and for the first 2 i couldnt wait to get my bike special needs bag and i wanted no part of my run special needs bag. hopefully this time i actually pick up my run bag. I know there's the morning gear bag, but it says we have to turn them in before the swim. Does it go in our bike gear bag after we get ready for the bike, and then pick it up later? In the HIMs I have done where T1 & T2 are not the same location, they gave us two bags that have your race number on them. In the first we put any pre race gear needed up to before the the beginning of the race; warm-up outfits, socks, sandals, gels you did not eat, empty bottles, whatever. We then dropped this off at a designated location right before the race started (our spot was the back of a moving van). The second bag we put by our bikes. After the swim when we got to our bikes, we stuffed anything we wanted to keep into the bag; wetsuit, goggles, towel, etc. Leave the bag, grab your bike and go. They then had workers come around T1 to collect the bags. They made it clear that anything not in the bag at T1 you would not see again. So be sure everything is in the bag. After the race there was a designated location were we could pick up the two bags. It all went pretty smooth. I got both my bags. They might change the process some for this event. However, the structure of this event is the same as the HIM I did last year (T1 is at the lake, T2/finish line are together someplace else). I plan go to the pre race meeting to be sure. In case you cannot make it, they will probably include instructions in your race packet. If you need to ask when you pick up your race packet. |

Master 2404 Redlands, CA | Subject: RE: Ironman St. George - Utah : Official Thread Yesterday was my last swim. I've been fighting a cough for the past 3 weeks and I'm starting to suspect it has something to do with the lake I've been swimming in. From here on its a few short bike rides and a light run or 2. I really don't want to wake up on race day with a fever. |

This is my first full IM, so I'm clueless! Put whatever you might want to have if you stopped at a gas station during the middle of the ride. And anything else you might think you could potentially wish you had had at a gas station, if you stopped in the middle. I've put in chamois butter (in a baggy), more of the usual foods i eat, a couple salt tablets... And then totally decided to not even pick it up. (It just gets trashed later) |
