kt65 - 2012-04-17 10:53 AM My splinter was a piece of sharp glass, not wood! No wonder I couldn't see it. A few days to heal and I should be on my way, so thankful!

A piece of Alabama's national championship trophy?  Glad you were able to find it and get it removed.  Best wishes for a "speedy" recovery.

klove13 - 2012-04-17 11:34 AM What's up everyone. Haven't posted in a few days but I see that a lot has happened. Just wanted to post a little update about my training. I have my main race this upcoming Saturday! (USAT Collegiate Nationals down in Tuscaloosa, Alabama). I'm super excited. My team leaves on Thursday morning for a long 14 hours of driving but we'll have all day Friday to hang out and get ready for the race. I've been tapering this last week just taking it easy. Went for a bike ride on Friday and Saturday, took Sunday off, and swam 3000 yards last night. Going to go for a short run today after work - nothing too hard. Any last minute tips or suggestions would be great! The weather looks like it's going to be pretty nasty. Anyone know what happens if there is thunder/lightning?

Dont know if you posted this already but what school do you go to?

I go to Georgetown University in DC. I'm graduating in a few weeks though and moving back up to NY where i'm from.

How can i quote two different people's comments at once? I don't want to have to post multiple times when answering 2 questions.

I believe Roni is our current expert on running in thunder/lightning.

Good luck this weekend, Kevin!

A stranger may convince you to get in their car?

Suzy's post may be more helpful, even though she terpsed it.  Have a great race!

Nice! I am in NY(Brooklyn), went to Rutgers so very familiar with Georgetown since they are in the Big East for sports. If your Major happens to be in technology (Comp Sci, Information systems, etc) and you dont already have a job I will be more than welcome to pass along your resume and put in a word for you with my employer.

Also, I have no clue how to double quote, dont know if its possibble. I usually just answer multiple people in a post like this

Name - answer

Name - answer

and so on and so on, Good luck this weekend

I SWAM TODAY!

Wasn't for very long or very far but I did it!.....  baby steps.
Got the backyard pool rockin' and the water is just warm enough to tolerate, so it's on!

Wake up crew!!

I thought I'd give you an update. I'm recovering nicely.  My muscles and joints are ready to go (slowly) again.  The only issue I'm having is with the big toe on my left foot.  It was blistered under the toe nail and on the inner side of the toe.  I've been trying to hold off on draining it, but it's been throbbing for 3 days and I couldn't take it any more.  It's feeling much better now.  I'm shoe shopping tonight.  I need something better for the LONG trail runs with more room in the toe box and more traction.  I will refrain from grossing you out with pics for a change Smile

Glad to hear you are recovering well... can't believe your not posting pics of that toe!Surprised

cadmus - 2012-04-16 5:00 PM The Cadmus crew gained a new member yesterday.  Nicholas was born at 11:15 am after, in my wife's words, a "very peaceful" labor.  Mom and baby are doing great.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!   Awesomeness!

I hear ya Jayne... my second toes on both feet got beat up pretty good. I drain the nails daily.  I guess the trail shoes will have to be either a half size larger or with a bigger toe box.  My toes don't take this kind of beating on marathons and regular runs.

I will be shopping for trail shoes soon.  I run in Brooks Launch and occassionally in Newton Sir Issacs.  Any recommendations to consider based on that limited information...or should I just let the resident experts at Luke's Locker direct me?

Hey Justin,

I went and tried on some trail-specific shoes tonight, but didn't find anything that suited me.  I'm going to do my next race, a trial half marathon in 11 days, in my New Balance Minimus shoes and see how it goes.  They give me plenty of room in the toe box and good traction.  Should be interesting!

Yo!  It's Wednesday and time to spill your weekend race plans!  I know of at least one dude heading south for Nationals, but who else is giving it a go?  Do you have a strategy? or are you winging it?
