Judi and Kristen, did you see this?  http://beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=478628&posts=1&start=1

first post and a glowing report.  suspicious... Smile

Oh yeah, I saw that.  Made me laugh.  Either the individual has no clue how a race course should be set up or is a flunkie of the RF.  I'm not going to respond to her RR cause I could be banned for asking if she was at the same horrendous race we were at!

Yes -- definately suspicious.

BATTLE OF THE MATTRESS!  -- UTTRIMAN WINS!

That's the epic headline for me today.  Got up and really fought the mattress to get going this morning.  But I won the battle, one worthy of WWF!

Good run, and I'm happy.   Hope everyone has some good workouts this weekend.  How are you all doing on your monthly goals?  Me -- I'm going to make them -- only need 1 more bike, 1 more swim and a little over 2 runs... So barring something drastic, I'll make all mine for the first time in MONTHS!

Have a great day team!

Made it to masters this morning for an ez swim in preparation for my race tomorrow. Roughly 9 miles and 20 obstacles in 85* heat - I probably should have started hydrating a little sooner

Looks like she joined BT just to complete her race report. That's not too suspicious!

Hello Everyone.

I think there was a full moon throughout this week as it's pretty hectic dealing with a few sick kids, being Mr. Mom as my wife had a few evening rehearsals, working on an office re-accreditation survey, another office water main break, and half tapering this week.  The stars however did align so I am off today and next Fri  before both my sprint tri's.

I had a morning open water session today at a local private lake and felt soooo much better. Last week's ows bay class went well as we got a lot of tips and practiced sighting and even being swum over =). Main issues for me since it was my first time was the cold temp (55), not being able to stand, and not being able to see...but pushed myself to do the optional 500m swim at the end of class and though I did stop a few times to catch my breath and re-direct, it was huge mentally.  Today was 100x better and we did three 500m loops along the lake shore...felt so much more comfortable and such a confidence builder.

So picking up the 2 of my kids today and heading to the venue to pick up our race packets. The only difficult part tomorrow will be waking up at 430 with the kids in tow and me waiting for my wave to begin. The kids are doing the junior tri at 730 while I do the regular rev tri at 1000 with 2nd wave. It will also be my wife's first time as a spectator. She still looks at me as if I have antennas growing out of head when I tell we have to pay to r,b,s =) but she does get a chuckle out of seeing me in my tri outfits..

Hard to believe I signed up for my first spring tri about 3 months ago and its already here. I'm unusually calm today but I'm sure I'll be feeling the bats as we get closer to race time. This program has really made me more accountable with my training and I've learned so much. Thanks for everyone's encouragement !

Good luck to all the racers this weekend !

So how did people races go?  I love reading race reports, so get them up!

I'm still feeling a little under the weather, but have had some really fun training sessions recently.  Thursday night we got to the pool to find that they've changed the times of the swimming club session, so that on the ONLY night of the week that we could get in the lanes before 9pm, has changed so that we can't get in till 9.  Not ideal, because I can no longer swim in the evening on any of my shifts.  But we got ourselves a lane at 9, and having got past the frustration of fighting through the public area for the first part, we had a bit of fun practicing drafting, with all 3 of us swimming down the lane at once.  I think some of the other people in the pool were wondering what all the laughing was about, because Kevin (husband) and I kept intentionally hitting and swimming over each other, and generally got to the end of each length in fits of giggles...

Yesterday I met up with a friend who's been off work this week, and cycled to his house.  We then went running in the dene near him.  Around here a dene is a deep valley with a river/stream at the bottom.  It was fun trail running through the mud, in a beautiful setting, but I hadn't realised quite how steep some of the trails would be.  I had to stop and walk a couple of times because my legs quit on me, but I figure even walking up that stuff will make me stronger.  His wife had made a lemon drizzle cake for us, which we enjoyed before cycling home.

I'm back at work this weekend, but don't feel like I'm missing out on too much quality training because I woke up to snow again this morning (I wish the weather would just make up it's mind).  One of the tri club guys is borrowing my mountain bike tomorrow so that he can go out with the group because he only has a road bike and keeps missing out on the long rides because of the weather.

Thanks for the suggestions on running.  I know I need to be patient, it's just frustrating.  Unfortunately I don't have access to a crosstrainer anywhere, so it'll just have to be gentle running.  But I did a bit of maths in my head, and I'm feeling a little more confident about my ability to build up in time for the big race.  I'm considering signing up for a half marathon at the end of april to help focus my run training.  I probably won't be going for a pb, but I think it'll be fun, and I'm trying to mix a bit of single sport stuff in this year just for variety.  Any thoughts?

Have fun everyone!

Summer league is 25 and 50 yards. Megan is 10 and she swam 100 breast, 200 IM, 50 back and 100 free. She has swum the 500 in just over 8' at meets in the past. There was a 10 yo boy from another club who swam 29s for the 50 free and 31s for 50 fly. Those are national levels times.

Those are insane times!  Oh my goodness, not in my wildest dreams can I swim that fast!!
