Yeah, I have made a slow transition over some time to do significantly less meat and more fruit and vegetables, grains etc. It's more for environmental reasons than health but beneficial to both for sure. I don't intend to ever go fully veg and certainly not vegan but I think everyone could stand to shift this direction a little. |

I probably eat 90% veg, but after my long Sunday bike rides (and sometimes brick run) I have a turkey w/ bacon sandwich. I've done the mainly veg thing on and off for a few years, but this time I've lasted the longest. I have many reasons for making the switch, not the least of which is I don't want to put all the crap and nonsense that they pump into animals (anitbiotics, growth hormones etc) into my body. It's not for everyone, but it has been working well for me. |

I love our college chef. He should be on Chopped. But yes -- plant based here, as well. I still eat meat, but I'm also trying for more fruits, veggies, and other proteins. I love that you immediately figured out a training option though At least it's one of those things that is really cut and dry. Cast six weeks and onward. Ya know? Well, shyte. Double up the {MP} I sent you on FB ... maybe literally ... I like Stace Face's idea. Come to Perf! Kingsley is going to buy me and another friend of his giant inflatable hamster balls to live in so we don't hurt ourselves so much. I'll tell him to order a third. Like this?! As long as you can get the Pop Tarts in! |

If you want the Welsh culture 101, watch the films Twin Town and An Englishman Who a went Up A Hill And Came Down A Mountain. For the bookie people amongst us, try reading How Green Was My Valley by Robert Llewellyn (also a book). This got me to thinking, what type of film/book epitomises you're culture, where you're from etc? |

Actually, that is a tough one. I know the books and films that have really resonated with me but whether or not that epitomises my culture or where I am from? Doubtful. I don't even know what that would look like. Great question. |

I'm sad with you that you can't race this weekend but I know that with the time on the trainer you will become so strong! Do you use Sufferfest? They just came out with some training plans. I just pray that you won't lose your outside bike confidence. It was so rewarding to read! |

I am not sure what I think, but I feel like I will run faster. They are tiny and light. I am a little nervous to run in them, actually. Ah schnap just got confirmation I'll be racing my first XC meet on Saturday.
*Actually, I need to decide what shoes I should wear. I'm not going to buy XC spikes/flats for now. I assume I probably want to run in whatever I have that is both light and has the most aggressive tread? Not sure if anyone knows much about this or not. Did you get them for xc or something else? I got them for some of the dirt road races I do. Trail shoes are over kill. And I was buying a pair for my 12 year old, and thought, "Why not???" Impulse buying at its finest. |

That clip is eerie, the way it's so quiet, and the tension building. I haven't seen it, I will have to search it out. Welsh industry was built on the back of coal mining, and iron ore, and the book I mentioned earlier is based around that time. Generations of my family have been coal miners, I was the first to not go down the mines, and I give thanks to maggie thatcher for that. |

![]() | ![]() There is such a dramatic difference between the lives of my grand-parents and parents and my life that I can hardly even find some sort of theme other than the fact that we all love eachother very much. There are certainly characteristics we share. But our every-day life couldn't be more different. I don't know that I have ever really given it much thought, but I wonder if everyone feels this way or if it's typical of my generation or what? |
