Hi Shawn! It's good to hear from you How is the hammy doing? I'm guessing it's better since you got in all that running!

Good job

Still a PAIN in the BUTT but I had to get out and do something.  The kids were so looking forward tot he whole event and couldn't let them down.

I think it is perfectly reasonable that it would be on your short list to consider. Every time I have to travel for work, I always wonder "how am I going to get my work out in?". Same thing happens when we go on vacation. Probably frickin weird to a lot of people.

Frickin' crazy to a lot of people! I think my friends are getting used to it, though -- when I told one of them about the new job possibility, her first question was, "What's that going to mean for your training?" Ha. She knows me too well.

The job thing is tough. If you really want it for career advancement maybe you have to adjust your tri expectations in the short term while you grow to love a morning routine. If you pass it up, will there be another down the road? do you care? Lots to think about, but I am sure you will know what is right for yourself. Remember no regrets with whatever decision you make.

Hm...so maybe the new job would give me an excuse to cut back on the tri training and just focus on running...I hadn't considered that. *g*

This opportunity is pretty rare, I'm just really not sure if it's the right opportunity for me. I'm totally with you, though -- once I make a decision, no looking back, no regrets. It's worked for me so far!

I have some good news on the racing front: Results are finally in from my 10k, and I was 7 seconds faster than I'd thought. Which doesn't sound like much, except it means that this race was 4 seconds faster than my previous 10k, so I get the PR after all. Ha! This racing thing cracks me up. I mean, I know I was faster than my previous 10k (by a little over a minute), but I really wanted the "official" PR after that stupid distance mistake.

Hi guys and gals. I've been lurking and keeping up with you all from behind the scenes (via email notification). I know I promised to post every day but I don't have time I love my new job, except for the lack of online time it provides me during the day. I thought about you all last night while I kept my butt on the bike. I cranked my iPod up and just gritted my teeth and kept on going...for 25 minutes, but it's a start. There's a race here next week which I'm volunteering for. DH has become a 'sponsored' racer this week. He's racing for the endurance team for Miramar Air Station and they're providing uniforms and entry fees. I'm very proud of him considering he's the 'old' man of the group. He's in such great shape, and I'm rather envious! I started looking for a tri 'outfit' for October's race. I have a 2 piece suit that I bought on sale last year, but I know it's going to be too small, so I'm 'shopping.' I love to shop, but this is NOT fun! LOL Keep training....and early happy Independence day to the US folks.

It's so good to *see* you!!!  Great job on getting on the bike and getting it done!  Keep up the hard work and you'll be as fit as DH

That's cool about him being a sponsored racer - have a great time at the race and check in when you can!

Shawn, it's so wonderful to see you again! So sorry you were nursing an injury. You know how much we love you and are cheering you on whether you're being superdad in recovery or back on the training trail.

Erin, congrats on the PR!

Suzy is a CHAMPION triathlete now!

Terri, how wonderful to hear from you again. Been thinking of you here in Indon. Your hubby is a total hottie ... he almost deserves the amazing woman he is with .

Hey Manatees..I am still without a computer regularly so I'm just checking in.  I see that almost everyone is racing...tis the season.  Completed my first Tri and I am running the Peachtree Road Race (me and 55,000 others)  This is not really a "race" but more of an "event".  Very coveted T-Shirt and really a fun time.

Next year is going to be interesting for me.  I run my first marathon in Jan (Disney) and I just signed up for my first 1/2 Ironman (new race in Augusta Ga.) which is Sept. 27, 2009 (ironically...my 58th birthday   )

Hope everyone is racing great and Yanti, I hope your trip and your race is very special and safe.

Be safe everyone and train hard.

Steve

(ps...Remember Erin....Addiction is not always a bad thing.  "Hello,....my name is Erin.....and I am a runner." (then the chorus answers..."Hey Erin."

So, gang, I took the job I was talking about the other day -- it's a promotion, so that's good, but it's going to be some insane hours and almost definitely cut into tri training time, which is a little upsetting. On the down side, it might mean I have to put off training for the oly that I'd sort of/maybe/a little bit been considering doing in November. On the up side, I'll have a decent excuse to just focus on running. I'm really hoping I'll be able to do a sprint in September, and maybe one in November, but I'm not sure that'll be possible.

Still! It's an exciting job -- very high profile, one of the biggest (if not the biggest) jobs at the paper. I'm scared $hitless about it, but I certainly won't be bored.

Hey, Cool Manatees!!!

Erin, super congratulations. You are one of the sharpest and most capable women I know, and you will no doubt not only rise to but supercede the challenge.

HI STEVE!!! So awesome to hear from you again. And what a way to celebrate a birthday. Oh, and FWIW I don't believe you about your age. Not for a minute.

My cinematic (it's got about that many pictures), joyful RR from Bali is up, finally! It's seriously the world's best triathlon!

Thanks for the congrats, Beth and Yanti!

Everyone *must* go and read Yanti's RR. It's SO MUCH FUN! I didn't think I could love Yanti any more than I already did, but I was very wrong.

We had a really fun holiday...two nights of celebrating resulted in two tired out kids (and mama!) but we saw lots of fun displays, did some of our own, bbq'd, road on a boat, saw a parade, drove a lot so we supported the oil companies with our gas purchases....I even went running once, although today just couldn't power out a workout due to yukky weather.  Summer traditionally begins in Seattle on July 5, but not so this year, wah!  Still sleeping with a down comforter on the bed.  Seriously.

I digress.  Erin, congrats on the promotion....what is your new job title?  I am dying to find out more about that.  I think having a running base will give you a way to destress, if it is as hectic as it seems like it will be!

Happy 5th, all!   I signed up to do a tri next weekend, and am looking forward to that!  Also one the following weekend, at which my dad will be attending to cheer for me!

I hope everyone is having a good weekend out there!!!

Erin - contratulations on the decision.  I bet taking on this new role and getting the experience will be worth a "little" sacrificie on the training front.  I have been there and you can definitely come back to it when things settle down.

Dolores- what a great picture.  The swim looks a little frightening to me, but beautiful!

Yanti -Great race report as usual.  You are sooooooooooo full of life all the time.

To the rest of you, I am glad you had a safe and fun 4th.  Our vacation is not over.  The man is staying at our house up north until Monday mid-day so there is more fun to be had.  The lake has been really rough the last few days so no swimming.  I am hoping to find a calmer bay to get some practice in today.  Enjoy your Sunday!

Wonderful pic. For those of you who don't know, I am madly in love with WaterDog66 (Tim) in the picture. I mean, I'm madly in love with Dolores, too, but she got the wrong kind of plumbing for me .
