Racer #1339 will be there!!!

In other IM races, it seems that someone (maybe a BT moderator/admin?) will post updates and times of BT racers....

The mods quit taking on the responsibility of doing that at some point last year, IIRC...Aaron (JeepFleeb) used to do it for all the IMs...now someone has to volunteer to set it up and update the thread with results.

Looks like the NWS moved the snow out of the Saturday forecast for Veyo...still there for Friday night, though, down to 5200'.

(Looking like the various forecasts are all lining up now:  Probably high 40s for the swim start, mid-to-upper 60s for a high, passing showers, and windy.)

I was not sure how people felt about having their real name, so I didn't look it up and post it.  You can always look it up on the IM website.

I was surprised how many of us will be there.

saquavia was only kidding about the 666...it's actually 965

I usually go directly to the local tv station for the forecast. Right now KSL is saying low of 44 and high of 70. Not sure about the wind though.

KSL doesn't have details.  But NWS, weather.com and accuweather.com are all predicting winds around 15-17 mph Saturday.  NWS graphical forecast calls for wind chill around 38 degrees for the swim start...which will at least make the water seem warmer.

Chance of rain, sadly, is highest during the bike hours, but NWS has that at only 28%, so not looking like a factor...seems like we're more likely to face wind than significant rain.  Still a long way to Saturday, though.

In just a few days the City of St George will be invaded by the worst dressed people since the 1970's.  Lycra, compression socks, and Vibrams will all be on hand and flaunted.  I can't wait!

I got into St. George yesterday. I would be SOOOOOOOO happy if we could have today's weather for the race, but since I don't get to pick.... Went for a swim this morning and it wasn't that bad, well, after 10 minutes or so. I wore a full suit and regular swim cap (disclaimer: I'm from Michigan). I don't know what the temp was but the water was warmer near the rocks (also really fun to jump off). The water gets deep pretty fast.

We drove the bike course in the afternoon and the winds did pick up slightly, but didn't seem terrible. A couple of the hills are eye opening but nothing that we can't do. Go to Veyo Pies. YUMMY!

I like accuweather's forcast.  It looks like it could be a perfect race day.  Now it looks to be calmer, a tad cooler, and cloudy/overcast...  NICE!

Granted, not liking the 30% of showers, but in this region, even if you DO get showers, they are spotty and may or may not even hit the course.  Rain is sort of hit or miss in the desert.  It could be a downpour in one spot, and 5 miles away, you don't see a drop.

What are your thoughts about signing up for NEXT year's IMSG?

I really wish they didn't sell out so quick.  It's going to be hard to drop that kind of money a whole year in advance.  As this year's racers, we have dibs on entry this weekend.  Anyone planing to do it again next year?

Nope.  After two IMs in 9 months, I'm not doing another for at least a couple years.  Might do IMWI in honor of my 30th college reunion year (graduated from U. of Wisconsin in 1982 and lived in Madison for nine years, so there's a strong pull to do that race eventually).

Next year will be 1st IM for my wife (IMAZ) if she decides to pull the trigger on that.

Definitely fine with the 30% chance of showers...anything but steady rain will be fine by me.  I'd honestly rather have moderate wind than a steady rain on the bike.

I think I want to do a FLAT IM for once.  So I will take a pass as well.  I might shoot for IMFL next year.  I will have to make a trip down there for this years and either volunteer or hope to get in on the on site registration.

I have never really been too concerned about the rain as much as the wind.  I just know the wind can be terrible here.  There could have easily been 20-30 mph winds with gusts up to 45.  You never know.

I will take some showers and no wind LONG before a dry day and constant 15mph winds.
