Okay, I'm back from Cole's doctor appointment.  We got a referral to a very well known pediatric neurologist and I am very excited about this.  I get to call for an appointment tomorrow.  I wonder how long we'll have to wait to see her?

My plan was to run today but it is NASTY outside still.  So, I'll hit the trainer.  I'd rather nap though!

MDHillSlug - 2010-03-15 11:35 AM Good Morning!

It was crazy busy at the pool this morning; I had to wait 20 minutes for a lane. Then, while hauling myself out of the pool when I was done my foot slipped and I fell back in, scraping my leg in the process. What a way to start the week!

Nice dedication waiting for a lane.  I'd have scrapped the swim and gone out for coffee instead!

If I didn't wait and do it, it would never have gotten done.

I think I'm going to have to revise my morning routine on swim days and just get there 20 minutes later.

G'morning and Happy Monday, bEASTies!!

I had a blast at my 5k race yesterday!  I had no clue how fast to run since I'd never done a 5k before, didn't particularly train for it, and had run 18 miles on Saturday.  So I just gave myself a pretty conservative goal time based on my usual speed on my shorter runs, taking into account that I've been mainly training for distance and not speed.  I definitely felt like my legs were dragging during the race, but I made it through with a strong push to the finish and beat my goal time by 14 seconds!  Yay!

Then at the post-race party, they were raffling off a bunch of prizes. . . And I won a free party (open bar for 2 hrs) for up to 40 people at a nearby bar.  Scoooore!

Awesome!!! On both the 5k and the party!!

Ouch! Pool injuries are no way to start the week... especially after having to wait for a lane!

I know it's not nice of me... but waiting for a lane in the morning really makes me grumpy! But in my defense just about everything makes me grumpy before I've had my coffee. I give you lots of credit for sticking around to get your swim in.

So, my week started off last night with my 3 year old puking all over me when I went to check on her when I went to bed. She seemed warm so I spent all night worryng about her. This is the daughter that has had 2 seizures since last New Years from her temp spiking so fast - first from strep, the second from the wonderful swine flu. Fortunately, this morning she seems absolutely fine so maybe she just didn't like her dinner? Needless to say, I'm tired... Then we overslept and my 5 year old can NOT be rushed in the morning or she melts down. So she missed the bus and I had to drive her to school. In my pjs. And she made me go all the way in with her!! Now I am sitting here at work... with no focus... wondering if it's safe to go swimming this afternoon or will that jinx me? It seems like whenever I become unavailable during the day, that becomes the exact moment the school nurses starts hunting me down. But I need to work off these Monday grumpys and get rid of that big goose egg next to my swimming goal!

Happy Monday bEASTies!  Treadmill speed intervals for me at lunchtime.  I have found zone four and can attest that nothing pretty happens there.  But, things are looking up because the weather forecast looks absolutely marvelous for the rest of the week.  We are all sure to max out our goals in the sunshine.  Have a great day.

As expected, I didn't make it to the gym today, so that's 3 days in a row without a "real" workout.  I will force myself to do the treadmill first thing in the morning tomorrow and then do a spin class at lunch.  It's awesome that we're out to an early lead in the challenge, because I haven't updated the spreadsheet in a week or so.  I'll do that tonight.

Got to the pool with no calls about the kids! Of course, when I got there I realized that someone had borrowed my goggles (both hubby and kids like to do this) and forgot to put them back. I was already there so I decided to just swim without. Boy, do my eyes sting now!! But at least I can log some swim yardage.

St. Patrick's Day is coming up! But don't "overindulge" too much because we KNOW you want to keep up with your workouts! (Besides, do you REALLY want to drink Green Beer?) Current Standings: 1st place -- bEASTies - 34.8% 2nd place -- T.W.I.S.T.E.R. - 31.0% Happy St. Paddy's Day! Keep working out (or I'll zap you. I've just purchased a special GREEN taser. It's my personal way of celebrating St. Patrick's Day.) Dee

Dee, sadly... YES. I really want to drink green beer. I won't let it interfere though!

I don't want to go to a bar alone, so there will be no green beer for me

There may be some red wine involved though.

Come on down Ann, I'll go to a bar with you!
Strangely we usually go to the Mexican restaurant on st pats. It is the day they re-open for the summer.

Way to Go bEASTIEs! Lets stay on top.

*Sigh* Truth be told, I've never actually HAD green beer.

I'm not a "beer lover," and the fact that it's green....

So I guess I'll join the 2 of you at that bar.

Um. So your pre-race run was 18 miles? LOL That's awesome!

Congrats on beating your goal time AND winning a Free Party!

Wait, doesn't this mean we now have a place to PARTY? 'Cause we know you're going to invite all your Challenge teammates, right?

I'll bet we can drink lots in a 2 hour period.

So, my Monday is shaping up!! Got my swim in. No sick calls from school. AND we paid off a loan today so hubby wants to celebrate!! His theory is that Wednesday is St. Patricks Day and Thurs/Fri is basketball.. so TODAY needs to be the celebration day. He's bringing yummy food home for dinner after the kids are in bed. Yeah!!

15.75 miles during cycling class today.  I can make my bike goal if I do at least 15 miles during each of the 5 classes left this month (including today's) and Judi's 50 mile bike ride.

My run goal is a little more iffy, although I do have a half-marathon this weekend.

You bet your bippy I'll ask to put on it.

But, to be honest, with all the school he's missed, I wouldn't be broken hearted if we had to wait until the summer.  Maybe I can shoot for spring break.

billsorg - 2010-03-15 10:14 AM Good morning and happy Monday, bEASTies,
Very, very lazy weekend for me.  My only workout was a 15 minute bike ride, but what a ride it was.  I went to the Greater Philadelphia Endurance Expo and got to ride an unbelievably sweet Kestral tri bike.  It was completely loaded, with Zipp wheels, etc.  And it could have been mine for the low, low price of $6,500.  That price doesn't include the cost of my divorce had I decided to buy it.  I'm in a taper week for my half Mary this coming Sunday.  I'll try to get to the gym today, but I have a busy meeting schedule.  Have a great day!
Bill

They should put that on the price tag:

$6500 for the bike
$1000 for attorney fees
$500 a month for child support until they are 21
Priceless - knowing you have a kicka$$ bike to race on
Too funny!

That has happened to me as well. Last time the guard told me to just go grab some from the lost and found.   Worked great since I swim with my hard contacts in and really can't keep my eyes open without goggles.
