triguy1043 - 2012-02-16 1:15 PM Did everyone get thier offical 2012 Lake Placid Ironman email today?  I guess we are realy doing this Ironman thing!!

Got mine and it definitely pumped me up for my swim workout! less than 23 weeks!

I got mine as well. I can't believe I slept in that line up right after the event ended and all I had was two lawn chairs. I was 3rd in the public line up cause volunteering filled up! Question: if you want to do it again next year do you have to sign up the day before? Or can you join the volunteer line up the Monday? So today I changed my pedals on my own to speedplay and what a huge difference it made. I gained 2kph ave speed in ny 45min ride and shaved off 30secs in my pace! Great pedal but it take some getting used to as I have to keep my feet in or my shoes would come off easily.

don't get in line with the VOLS. You need to sign up before the race for next year, or at least I  think that's when. But if you get in line with the VOLS you will be put into another line to wait. There we a few people in that line last year when we were waiting.

[I think i want to finish the race first before signing up for next year. I still have to line up with the general public and not with vols?

Hey all, I follow (stalk/lurk) this thread so I know what I'm in for for next year. I will be in LP June 10th doing the marathon there, before I volunteer and sign up in July. Yesterday I got my volunteer email (yay!). Last night I dreamt I went up to watch the race and suddenly realized I was about to miss sign ups. Oh boy, however did you guys cope with this stuff?! LOL

SEADOCHA - 2012-02-17 3:36 PM Did anyone attend the Endurance Nation camp last year for IM Lake Placid? I'm talking about the one that cost $25 and this year it is $100 (think it's on special for $69 right now). I'm going to LP to train that same weekend. My friend is signed up and I'm debating on whether to pay the money or just go and train on my own. I was just wandering if I will really benefit from paying the money or if I would just be paying the cash to go ride and run with a group. If you went in the past did you really pick up any helpful hints for IM?

i did it last year.  the head coach (patrick) knows every freaking inch of the course and he will describe it to you and give you tips in painstaking detail.  the strategy he will share for raceday execution is top-notch.  he's KQ'd a few times there including last year.  whether you are an member of EN or not (i was), i think you will get tremendous value IF you are they type of person that soaks in information and will listen closely to the coaches and trust their experience.   plus it was a fun group of people (like most triathletes are) and you'll make some friends.  but it is fairly loose...don't expect a boot camp .  But it is certainly well worth the $69 IMO.

Rode about 35 tonight with the Friday night group of 10 - as we do every week. We had three flats, one lose his brakes and I lost my lights. A night to remember. Running 10 tomorrow and swimming lightly for an hour. Good times.

Hi guys,

long time I didn't jump on this board... Was busy training

Am I the only one having weird/bad dreams when sleeping at night ? I had 2/3 bad dreams this week about IMLP, problems on the swim, problems on the bike... The only area when everything was fine was the run... (Or I woke up before getting there :P)

I think I'm beginning to be scared...

Anybody with the same symptoms ??

My most recurring one (started with IMWI '09).......I forget to take my wetsuit off in T1 and don't realize it until well into the bike!  LOL, can you imagine!?!

My most recent one was I was getting ready to do a HIM, but it was right after doing the one in my plan and was afraid I would be overtraining and maybe injure myself and I kept rethinking whether to start the race or not and why did I ever sign up for another HIM!  LOL!  There will be many more over the next 20+ weeks!

Im going to sign-up for it this morning.  IMLP 2012 being my first full length Im nervous and can use any expert advice I can get.  Ive wasted $69 on much worse.  The only problem with this for me is that the prior weekend is the Rev 3 HIM that I will be participating in.  My legs may be toasty.  Any opinions?

Atleast  this will familiarize yourself with the course. I biked the course last year and there are several areas you can dismount and relax if you need more rest. I will probably end up paying the $69. I too have wasted my money on things much worse! haha

That's exactly what i did last year.  Rev3 on Sunday, drove up to Placid for the camp on Thursday.  I thought it worked out great.  Yes, the legs will be toasty, but in my opinion the timing works out great for a really big training block.  Although, i've never tried any different as it was my first IM, too...good luck!

I am sure the camps are great and I am looking at them as well, but if they don't work out for your schedule don't sweat it. As was mentioned above, you can always go up there by yourself or with a partner. I went up in 2010 on the weekend of July 9/10 and rode the course in full. Was my last real long bike ride before the race as I went into taper shortly after. Was a really good mental picture to have before the race. There are plenty of people up there riding in case you run into any problems. Just take it real easy on the Keene decent as you have cars coming behind you as well. I bet we could get our own groups together if the camps don't work out.

thats probably a good idea.  I wouldnt mind coming back the following week for another lap or 2 the course.  Ive looked around cabins and they look pretty good.  Now just gotta run that idea with the boss, wifey.

I know it is early in the training, as I've been at it for about 2 months now, but I just got some new motivation to ride.  Im picking up my new Specialized Shiv tomorrow.  I had a fitting this afternoon and plan on taking it on its first ride tomorrow...  Very excited!

Rich, it's 60 in Philly today! How do you have time to go for long rides during the week? I'm stuck at the office all day...

Hey all,

Just a heads up. They are holding back the wetsuit folks by 10 minutes in IMTX. If memory serves, you had a mixed race last year as well (wetsuit and non wetsuit). Though you might want to know to plan/prepare if you didn't know already. Good luck with your training.
