Quick update on me: I've been avoiding BT.  I'm getting down about the injury, mainly that it's not really healing as quickly as I would like.  It's really hard to stay off the leg with a toddler in the house and I'm probably not wearing the boot around the house as much as I should.  I go back in next week, but I'm pretty sure Ortho is going to tell me I'm not allowed to do anything for the time being.

On the job front: I've had 2 phone interviews.  Got a call this afternoon (a few hours after the second) that they want to bring me up for an in-person interview!  Super exciting.  This is for a job in Philadelphia, so it would be really easy for my family to relocate up there with DH's job.  He'd just transfer offices and they'd pay for our move.

Boo on the injury, HAPPY DANCE on the job front!!!

It just keeps getting better. My son can't stand to leave the place, "Dad said we could stay here all day. It's not even dark yet!", and my girl finds everything amazing. Can't say that I blame her.Laughing

I HATE numbers on my top tube. I always figure out a way to not let it stick all the way around so it doesn't get on my frame.

I like the idea. I wonder how many race numbers would actually fit it though.

From my blog today....asking for thoughts cause I am almost incapable of putting together a coherent sentence at this point.

I am feeling so beaten up.  I wore the calf sleeves yesterday afternoon to help the legs recover and they do feel better for that....Soaked in the jacuzzi with epsom salts for at least half an hour and just feel as if someone took a baseball bat to me.  Looked at this week's plan and it makes no sense.

It reads:Monday 4--Tuesday 8--Thursday 4--Saturday 17.  That is HALF my mileage for the week on one run.  Sounds a bit heavy.

Looked at the other plan I started with and it reads:  Monday 4--Tuesday 8--Wednesday 4--Friday 8--Saturday 17.  I don't think I can do such high volume....that's why I changed plans, it was just too much.  But doing half the weeks distance in the long run is painful in too many ways.  I might take the original plan mileage but drop one of the 8 milers to 5 or 6.  Thoughts?

I saw your query in your blog over the weekend and I had to kind of think on it for a bit.  I'd keep your long run as whatever is in the plan and then figure out how many days you can run and divide up the remaining mileage however suits you -- say 4, 6, 8, 3 for this week plus your long run.   (Really, a running Manatee should answer the mileage part, I've never done a marathon without a crap ton of cross training.)

If you use the jacuzzi, remember to keep water tepid.  Hot water will add to the inflammation.

Judi -- is it possible that you are taking the long run too quickly? Maybe slow it down 15-30 seconds per mile next time and see how that feels??

Just grasping at straws Undecided  . . . since no one had mentioned that yet (that I could see).

I am really considering a power meter. I figure I am going to be indoors alot this winter training for my Full Ironman and a Power Meter would really help boost my cycling. Any thoughts on the new Garmin Vectors? So far the reviews are really good. DC Rainmaker gave his approval

With the wide range of colors in the pants, everything matches. Smile

Sadly I can't race in those things. Way too hot.

Yes, all the races we are doing allow spikes and if for some reason we race one that doesn't, I will just wear my flats.

It just keeps getting better. My son can't stand to leave the place, "Dad said we could stay here all day. It's not even dark yet!", and my girl finds everything amazing. Can't say that I blame her.Laughing

OK. Treadmill. Then some catching up on Pod news and RRs.

Put it on an incline and tell yourself you need this to better hike up and out of the canyons. Wink And yes, it does help.

LOL...I couldn't bring myself to do it. Tomorrow, after the trip magic has worn off.

Checked the air in jogging stroller...checked the temp (97*, not deathly hot?)...filled water bottle with ice...and went for a slow 30min jog.

Looks like a really nice day there! I saw a number of animals, but no snake like you did. Know what type it was? This is the profile of some of the surrounding trails to get up top. When the kids are older, it's well worth getting up higher. The pathways are rather well done, they just go up a lot and do it fast. Have to hike up nearly as high as the Burj Khalifa to do it, but the view is stunning. From what I did, Observation Point is the best spot. The other two overlooks are great when out there, but it's a lot of hiking through what could be any old forest to get there. Ok for me, but most won't want to go that far.

It was gorgeous! A bit cloudy and late flash flood warnings on Saturday evening, then yesterday was perfect.

Here's the snake:  http://dwrcdc.nr.utah.gov/rsgis2/search/Display.asp?FlNm=masttaen      It was going to cross the busy Emerald Pools trail, then my son ran up   We watched it climb back into a shrub and across to a tree and then up 5-6 feet to hang out. I think about 20 people stopped to see it. Not a typical sighting.

We thought about doing the Hidden Canyon trail (850 ft climb within a mile), but after doing the Emerald Pools my son wanted to go down into some of the lower canyons/washes on the east side of the big tunnel. Looks like Observation Point goes on up past Hidden Canyon. Cool!

Observation Point. Angels Landing. The Narrows. Ahhhhh...so tempting, and both my kids are mountain goats. But then there's good parental sense.  Five more years??? I can wait. Sealed

I'd say it's down to what kind of money you want to spend.  you could get a PowerTap for a lot less.  DC Rainmaker did a recent comparison of the rundown of some of the current power meters out there.

I agree that a power meter would make trainer rides more interesting.  I'm not looking forward to the trainer this winter.
