Also! Arm warmers can be for running, too.  So maybe pants, short-sleeves, and arm warmers.  Then I can cool off by taking off the arm warmers and running in pants and short sleeves.

GO MANATEES!!

GO ME!

GO KRISTEN!

I'm running an 8k tomorrow, and Kristen is running a half marathon tomorrow (so is Judi for those of you who know her).  Then we are having brunch!!

It is supposed to be 34 when the race starts at 7 am, 43 at 8, and 47 at 9.  I will finish in 1:15 to 1:30.  Thinking of wearing: pants, long-sleeved shirt, winter-style hat, and gloves.  Does that sound reasonable?

GO EVERYONE!!!!At 34*, I would probably wear gloves and arm warmers and maybe a pair of light Capri length tights. However, in the 40s I am generally ok with shorts and a short sleeve T (maybe the gloves too, because my hands are always cold). So, I would probably just suck it up for the first part of the race and wear shorts, a short sleeve T with arm warmers and gloves. As it warmed up, I would roll down the arm warmers and remove gloves as needed.

I think arm warmers are one of the best inventions of running. Plus, if you absolutely have to take them off they are much easier to store that the ol' tie your long sleeve around your waste trick. That's so 2010.

2407.12

And because of the discussion of running clothes choices for this weekend's races, I've decided to rock my abnoxiously bright Sock Guy arm warmers with short sleeves, capris, gloves, hat/headband for my 5K.  I think.

Yes. I think you should do anything that starts with obnoxiously ...

I still need to decide what to wear for our event tomorrow. It's obstacles and mud and all that jazz but it's been in the low 30's here. It's Hawaiian themed so I am trying to decide if I want to do the whole coconut bra thing or not. Yes, I have one lying around ...

So, I'll be the first to ask --- who's racing this weekend?

I think I am going to try the 25k on Saturday morning. I'm feeling pretty good. I could play it safe and do the 15k, but I feel like pushing it a little. I'll be doing a run/walk strategy, so I really expect to be fine. I'll take a PB&honey with me. At the 15k point, we're back at the start, and there will be soup and all kinds of goodies. I'll grab a cup of chicken noodle soup, and head back out with it in hand for the final 10k. The weather is going to be amazing. Clear and 55-60 degrees.

ETA: I'm hoping for under 3 hours, but I will take 3 hours on the nose.

Good Luck Felicia. It looks like you have a plan in mind, stick to it and you'll be golden. Enjoy it, it looks like the weather will be cooperating quite nicely.

DOOOOO EEEEEEEET

Go Felicia!

Go Salty!

Who else?

Kristen - American Family Fitness Half Marathon
Felicia - One Hill at a Time - 25K
Salty - Pineapple Classic (Adventure)
Jen - HCA Virginia 8k (Run)

Go Jen!

Go Salty!

Go Felicia!

Go Kristen!

So you all know the costume contest I was in?

Well I have been leading it and lately my lead increased (thank you all!!!) I had like 80-something votes and the second place person had like 50-something.

All of the sudden last night this dude (in a boring banana costume mind you) gets like 500+ votes

come to find out, he used a thing called getonlinevotes.com where you solicit strangers to vote for you if you vote for them.

What do you guys think? Valid or cheating?

Is his name Lance? Sorry, I couldn't resist. That is both lame and cheating. It seemed like it was just a fun local deal, with friends and such involved. A little self promotion in one of those deals is expected. An online plea to complete strangers is a bit over the line, IMO.

Agreed. I have my own opinions on the whole PED thing, but the reality to me is that rules are rules. Stick to them and work within the system to change the antiquated ones and the whole will be greater. But now we have an entire sport that is the laughing stock of the world sporting environment. And that is a shame.

I am done, off the soapbox for me.
